METER READERS. Notwithstanding any other provisions of this Agreement to the contrary, policies and practices relating to hours of work of the meter reading personnel of the Board of Water Supply, City and County of Honolulu, which are mutually agreed in writing by the Employer and the Union shall be retained and made a matter of record and filed with the Employer and the Union.
METER READERS. The Company hereby withdraws the letter of June 18, 2003, titled “Article 4:04 – Operations and Office Collective Agreements” on a without prejudice or precedent basis. The parties have discussed this matter further, and it is agreed that the Company will not post any Meter Reader positions that become vacant, and that the work will be contracted out. Employees being laid off will be able to displace contractor meter reading staff, except as noted in the last paragraph of this letter, as long as there remains at least one employee who is regularly classified as a Meter Reader, even if that employee is on layoff. For example, assume that a Local has two regular employees classified as Meter Reader. If one of these positions becomes vacant, the Company will not post the vacancy and the work will be contracted out, even if there are employees on layoff. When laid off employees are recalled, and then subsequently laid off, the employees being laid off will have the opportunity to displace the meter-reading contractor. When the remaining Meter Reader position becomes vacant, that is there are no longer any employees active or on layoff that are regularly classified as Meter Reader, the position will not be posted and the work will be contracted out, and employees being laid off will no longer have the right to displace the meter-reading contractor, as there are no longer any regular employees classified as Meter Reader. LETTER OF INTENT #12 The foregoing ability of an employee being laid off to displace a meter-reading contractor will not apply in cases where a Meter Reader has elected voluntary severance, and been replaced by a meter- reading contractor, under the terms of a voluntary severance agreement negotiated during renewal of the Collective Agreements that expired January 31, 2003.
METER READERS. If it becomes necessary to do future mass meter readings, the Union agrees that such work may be assigned by the City to other personnel provided that no meter readers will lose any work as a result of such decision.
METER READERS. Thirty (30) days prior to the commencement of each contract year, the WSD management shall post a sign-up sheet for the WSD Utility Workers for the purpose of filling the openings for meter readers. The sign-up sheet shall remain posted for a period of fifteen (15) calendar days and the position will be filled by April 1st of that year. If more Employees sign up than needed, seniority shall govern the selection. If openings are not filled, management shall fill the remaining openings by inverse seniority. Appointment to these positions will not inhibit a bargaining unit employee’s chances for future promotions. If management believes the number of meter readers should be increased or decreased during the Contract year, then the posting procedure shall be used and seniority or inverse seniority shall control.
METER READERS. Receive the flat amount as outlined above. NOTE: The foregoing monthly rate to be paid all year round, but to be subject to reduction for that period of sick leave or leave of absence which is in excess of five (5) consecutive working days.
