Miscellaneous Assignments. 3.05.1 Assignments to study halls shall be made by the building principal. A full hour study hall shall be equivalent to one class assignment. Paraprofessionals may be assigned to 3.05.2 The Board may employ paraprofessionals to supervise the cafeteria, homerooms and similar ½ hour supervision assignments to the extent permitted by law. This provision will not be utilized to effect a reduction-in-force of teachers. 3.05.3 A teacher shall not be assigned to search for suspected explosive or dangerous devices except when evacuating students from his/her room(s). Any sighting or observation of objects not normally found in his/her room(s) shall be reported to the proper authorities. 3.05.4 After a teacher has taught for 5 years in the District, it is highly desirable to obtain the permission of the teacher before the teacher is transferred to another school. The Board may transfer a teacher to another school without his or her permission only for just cause. When involuntary transfer is required, the Board shall consider as one factor the availability of volunteers in addition to other factors which are required to be considered under section 24-1.5 of The School Code (i.e., certifications, qualifications, merit and ability, including performance evaluations and relevant experience). It is understood that when the alternative to being transferred to another school is termination of employment due to a reduction in staff, the employment of the teacher who refuses such transfer will be terminated. Miscellaneous Assignments. 1. When a pilot is away from his home domicile at Company request for temporary flight duty, he will receive the standard allowances provided in Paragraph 4-A of this Section from the time of the departure of the trip on which he deadheads to begin the assignment until the time of the arrival of the trip on which he returns to his home domicile at the completion of the assignment, except that such expenses will be discontinued during any period of days off during which he returns to his home domicile or residence. Additionally, the pilot will receive twenty-five dollars ($25.00) per day for the entire duration of the TDY assignment. For purposes of this paragraph, a TDY assignment begins one day prior to the pilot's first required day on duty and ends one day after the completion of his last duty period. The pilot will be provided suitable single lodging accommodations paid for by the Company or be reimbursed for reasonable actual hotel expenses if he is required to secure his own accommodations. The pilot shall also be furnished transportation to and from his temporary domicile, plus transportation between the lodgings and the airport or expenses therefor if such transportation is not furnished by the Company. Such expenses shall be claimed on a regular Company expense account form and must be submitted within ten (10) days after incurring the expenses. The Company will allow actual and necessary laundry and cleaning expenses when temporary duty is for more than five (5) consecutive days. 2. When pilots are away from their home domicile on special assignment for the Company other than those provided for in Paragraph 4-E-1 above, reasonable actual expenses will be allowed for meals, transportation, laundry and lodging when not provided by the Company. All such expenses will be claimed on regular Company expense account forms and must be submitted within ten (10) days after incurring the expenses. Upon application, a pilot will be given an advance by the Company to cover such expense while on special assignment and within five (5) days after returning to his domicile or at the close of each week in the event a pilot is away for a period longer than one (1) week, he shall submit an expense account for such advance in accordance with Company regulations and if he has returned to his domicile, such expense account shall be accompanied by the balance of any money advanced and not accounted for on such expense accounts. 3. The first denial will be deemed a denial for all successive opportunities and there will be no repetition of calls to inquire about interest in successive call-out opportunities during that shift. b. If an employee is called by telephone and an answering machine is contacted, a message will be left on the machine and the next appropriate person will be contacted for the call-out. If the next person is contacted and accepts before the previous employee returns the call after receiving his/her message on the answering machine, the succeeding person is awarded the call-out assignment. If, however, the person calls before the succeeding person accepts, then the first person is awarded the call-out assignment for that shift.
