School Leadership Team. 1 Each school will have a School Leadership Team (SLT) consisting of the principal, the association representative, a teacher appointed by the principal, and a minimum of 3 teacher representatives who should represent a cross section of the faculty including grade levels, specials, department chairs and special service providers. These (SLT) members are elected annually by a majority of the faculty voting by secret ballot. The SLT will seek to operate in an environment marked by mutual support and respect.
School Leadership Team. Each school shall have a School Leadership Team as described in 5-5. The SLT will be responsible for making decisions as noted in Article 8.

The SLT will make decisions by consensus. A consensus is either a unanimous decision or a majority decision that the entire SLT, including the dissenters, will support. If consensus cannot be reached, the matter shall be referred to the Instructional Superintendent who shall consult with the Association prior to making a decision. The SLT will meet regularly. Their responsibilities shall include:
a. Review data and collaborate in the development of the School Improvement Plans;
b. Review and collaborate on the design of and schedule for the professional development plan within the 40 hour work week. The SLT shall take into consideration other professional development and teacher obligations in scheduling this time;
c. Review and collaborate on the implementation of the District’s instructional program as it specifically applies to classrooms and grades at the school including prioritizing and sequencing activities within the teacher work week;
d. Collaborate to identify strategies for increasing enrollment at the school;
e. Collaborate to develop communication strategies for regularly reporting student progress to parents;
f. Collaborate to implement best instructional practices;
g. Perform additional duties as outlined in Article 8.
School Leadership Team. 1. The School Leadership Team (SLT) shall be representative of all stakeholders in the school community. The School Leadership Teams shall consist of exactly thirteen (13) members:
a. The school principal and a vice principal;
b. The elected chief Association representative and four (4) additional elected by building peers, and two (2) members selected by the principal all serving staggered two (2) year terms and preserving a teacher majority;
c. Two (2) parents or family members of students in the school, to be chosen annually by the parents of the school;
d. One
(1) STA member that is not a teacher, chosen by the eleven (11) members of the School Leadership Team listed above.
e. One
(1) representative of the local community with a connection to the school who is not a parent of a student in the school, to be chosen by the eleven (11) members of the School Leadership Team listed above. The Association and the District shall execute a Memorandum of Understanding detailing the terms, conditions, and methods of planning and training required for implementing the School Leadership Teams.
School Leadership Team. The School Leadership Team shall be established at the school level and have no more than twelve (12) committee members, consisting of, but not limited to, Principal, Assistant Principal (if applicable), DFT Building Representative and four (4) Teachers. Participating schools shall select School Leadership Teams based upon a peer selection process. Any schools with a team in place as of September 1st will have an opportunity each October to change the composition of its team. Decisions in accordance with the established policies and practices for shared decision-making shall be made by consensus. The implementation of the decisions will be carried out by the principal and other members of the school staff, as necessary.
School Leadership Team. The School Leadership Team will be comprised of all PARs within a school, the Principal and the Vice Principal and other relevant staff at the discretion of the school administration. The School Leadership Team will meet on a regular basis (as agreed by the membership), throughout the school year and will be responsible for the following:
a) Develop and influence school specific goals for School Improvement Planning, student achievement, and making connections between Ministry, Board and school goals;
b) Assist with the coordination and development of exams and assessment practices to ensure consistency with Growing Success;
c) Provide input into school organization (staffing, calendars, course offerings, budget, capital projects);
d) Assist with transitions planning to and from secondary school;
e) Participate in the planning of school/department professional development;
f) Facilitate and support the curricular work of departments, including the development of long range plans for programs and courses;
g) Develop the PAR/AD Structure for the school for submission to the JRC.

The School Leadership Teams shall be represented based upon the following matrix: Elementary School No more than eight (8) STA members Middle School No more than eight (8) STA members K-8 School No more than ten (10) STA members High School No more than thirteen (13) STA members Each school may determine the constitution of this team above and beyond the following minimum required members:
a. The school principal and administrative team;
b. The elected chief Association representative and at least three (3) other STA members elected to staggered two (2) year terms and preserving a teacher majority;
c. Two (2) parents;
d. Additional representative membership, preserving a teacher majority and determined by individual building staff. Additional members will be selected by their constituent groups and serve two (2) year terms. The Association and the District shall execute a Memorandum of Understanding detailing the terms, conditions, and methods of planning and training required for implementing the School Leadership Teams.
