PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT FUNDING AND CONTROL. 1. The Board and the Association agree that funding which promotes and fosters the professional development of teachers shall be covered by this clause.
2. The Board and Association shall establish a fund for the purpose of promoting professional development of the teaching staff of the school district.
3. The Board and the STA, in recognition of the role of the Sooke Teachers Association Professional Development Committee having control of the Professional Development Fund, agree to the transfer of funds for teacher professional development.
4. The Professional Development Fund shall be controlled by the Professional Development Committee.
5. The Board agrees that its annual contribution to the Professional Development fund shall be one hundred ($100.00) per teacher, subject to the Association contributing forty ($40.00) per teacher annually. The transfer of funds by the Board to the Association will take place by October 31st of each year. October 21st will be the cutoff date to establish the number of teachers in the district for funding purposes. The Association will provide to the Board confirmation of the Association‘s per member contribution of forty ($40.00) per member by December 31st of each year. The Board shall also contribute five hundred ($500) per year to the Professional Development Fund for Teachers Teaching on Call.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT FUNDING AND CONTROL. 1. The Board and the CTA recognize that a. providing opportunities for professional development is a shared responsibility;
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT FUNDING AND CONTROL. F.21.1 The Board and the BVTU agree that the professional development of teachers covered by this clause shall include programs, services, courses and funding which will promote and xxxxxx teacher professional growth and development.
F.21.2 The Board shall establish a fund which, together with funds provided by the BVTU shall be used for the purpose of promoting the professional development of teachers in the school district.
F.21.3 The Board's share will be $240 per FTE.
F.21.4 The Board shall contribute one hundred (100) days Teacher-Teaching-On-Call time to assist with professional development, and any Teacher-Teaching-On-Call requirements beyond one hundred (100) days shall be borne by the BVTU or be a charge against the shared fund.
F.21.5 The professional development fund and policies shall be controlled and administered by the professional development committee.
a. The financial accounts shall be open for review by the Board and the BVTU at any time.
b. The professional development committee shall present an accounting of the disbursements from the fund to the Secretary Treasurer on October 7 and January 16 each year for the preceding period.
c. The closing balance shall be forwarded from one fiscal year to the next.
F.21.6 The professional development committee shall be chaired by the BVTU's professional development chairperson and shall comprise:
a. one teacher elected representative from each school, b. one Principal/Vice-Principal, and

The Employer shall pay two hundred fifty dollars ($250.00) per teacher and the OSTU shall pay sixty two dollars and fifty cents ($62.50) per teacher to establish a fund for the purpose of professional development. The fund shall be controlled and administered by the District Professional Development Funding Committee.
a. The Employer shall pay six thousand four hundred dollars ($6,400.00) into a fund for Teachers Teaching on Call. The fund shall be controlled and administered by the District Professional Development Committee.
b. 50% of the Employer funds shall be transferred to the Union on October 15, with the remaining 50% transferred on December 15 of each school year.
2. The District Professional Development Funding Committee shall be chaired by the Union's professional development chairperson, who shall have voting rights.
3. The District Professional Development Funding Committee shall be comprised as follows:
a. three (3) representatives of the Union in addition to the professional development chairperson;
b. three (3) representatives of the District.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT FUNDING AND CONTROL. 1. The Employer and the Union shall establish and maintain a District Professional Development Committee.
2. The Committee shall be comprised of:
a. one teacher-elected representative from each elementary school;
b. one teacher-elected representative from each secondary school;
c. the Union's professional development chairperson;
d. one teacher-elected representative from the teachers teaching on call; and
e. three representatives of the Employer.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT FUNDING AND CONTROL. The Board shall establish a fund for the purpose of the professional development of the teachers of the school district. Effective July 1, 1993, the Board will provide annually, the sum of $340.00 per full time equivalent teacher (based on the staffing on each September 30) for the Professional Development Fund.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT FUNDING AND CONTROL. [P/L]
1. The Board and the SEPF recognize that:
a. providing opportunities for professional development is a shared responsibility;
b. activities which promote and foster professional development of teachers shall be covered in this Article.
2. There shall be a professional development Fund which is jointly administered by the Superintendent or designate and the SEPF Professional Development Chairperson or designate.
3. There shall be a Joint Professional Development Committee comprised of four (4) SEPF members and two (2) representatives of the Board, chaired by an SEPF member.
4. This Joint Committee shall administer professional development activities.
5. This Joint Committee shall be guided by the following principles:
a. teacher participation in professional development activities is voluntary, except during non-instructional days set aside for professional development.
b. a needs assessment is the most appropriate starting point in planning a professional development program.
c. professional development programs shall include adequate resources, time and organizational support.
d. opportunities for professional development shall be distributed as widely as possible.
6. It shall be the responsibility of the Joint Committee to allocate available funds for school- based professional development, to set aside a contingency fund to meet special needs, to consider requests for additional funds from schools in which all allotted funds have been used, and requests from teachers on call in the employ of the Board. The Committee shall establish its own guidelines in these matters.
7. Each school shall have a Professional Development Committee of which a principal/vice principal or designate is a member and which is chaired by an SEPF member. Where practicable this Committee shall be elected.
8. The School Committee shall adhere to the principles in Article F.30.5.
9. The School Committee shall plan school-based professional development activities and approve expenditure of allocated professional development funds.
10. The Board will annually provide fifty-three one hundredths percent (.53%) Category 6 Max per FTE (as of September 30) to increase the Professional Development Fund to offset substitute or other professional development related costs.
11. The SEPF recognizes that the principal/vice principal or designate has the authority to authorize teacher absence from regular duties for professional development.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT FUNDING AND CONTROL.
F.20.1 The Board and the Union shall administer a separate professional development fund for the purpose of promoting the professional development of teachers.
F.20.2 The Board’s annual contribution to the fund during this Agreement shall be 0.5% of the annual operating budget, and the Union’s contribution shall be $1500.00.
F.20.3 All professional development costs, including the costs of teachers teaching on call for teachers granted professional development leave and the cost of meetings of the Professional Development Committee shall be charged against the professional development fund.
F.20.4 Funds not expended within the life of the contract shall be retained in the fund and shall be added to new funding.
F.20.5 The professional development fund, as established under Article F.20.2, shall be controlled and administered by the Professional Development Committee.
F.20.6 The Professional Development Committee shall be chaired by the Union’s Professional Development Chairperson and shall comprise of:
a. one (1) rural representative;
b. the Superintendent or designate;
c. one (1) teacher-elected representative from each school;
d. one (1) Administrator;
e. the Union’s Professional Development Committee Chairperson;
f. a teacher representative of the Curriculum Implementation Committee.
F.20.7 The Professional Development Committee shall adhere to the following principles:
a. Teachers shall participate in professional development on a voluntary basis, except during non-instructional days.
b. A needs assessment process shall be the starting point of a professional development program.
c. Opportunities for professional development activities shall be distributed as equitably as possible.
d. The professional development fund will not be required to finance curriculum implementation in the District.

3. During each year of this contract the Board shall contribute $100.00 per teacher subject to the association contributing $40.00 per teacher. The Board shall also contribute $500.00 per year to be applied for the Teachers-on-call for Professional Development.
4. The Professional Development Fund, as established by the Board, shall be controlled by the Professional Development Committee.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT FUNDING AND CONTROL. 1. The Board shall establish a fund for the purpose of the professional development of the teachers of the school district. 2. The professional development fund will be used to fund workshops, seminars, extended non-credit courses, inservice training and refunds for credit courses to the audit fee level only. The fund will not normally be used to fund implementation of new or revised Ministry Curriculum.
3. In the event that the sum of money provided by the Board in a given fiscal year is not spent, the remainder of the money will be allowed to accumulate in the fund to be used in the succeeding year. The total amount of the fund in any given year is not to exceed 3.0 (three) times the money agreed to in F.20.1.
4. The administration of this fund is to be in the hands of the Professional Development Committee, which shall include at least one school trustee representative, the Superintendent of Schools or representative, one teacher representative from each school, and one person named by the SSTA.
5. The Professional Development Committee shall be responsible for:
a. facilitating teacher identification of individual professional development needs through a needs assessment;
b. designing, implementing and evaluating professional development programs;
c. distributing professional development funds;
d. ensuring that professional development opportunities are distributed as equitably possible.
