S abbatical Leave. 1. A teacher who has achieved professional or established status with the School Corporation may be granted a sabbatical leave by the Board for a period not to exceed one year. The leave shall be granted without pay but the time of leave shall accrue as experience for retirement benefits.
S abbatical Leave. The Employer will establish a sabbatical leave. The purpose of a sabbatical leave is to provide an extended period of unpaid leave from an employee’s customary work to acquire new skills or training. The sabbatical makes available the necessary time to pursue significant professional development activities, e.g., full-time academic study, participation in research projects, foreign travel to examine alternative health care options, providing health care in underserved areas, publishing. Employees are eligible for their first sabbatical after working a minimum of ten (10) calendar years of regular employment with the Employer. An employee who qualifies may request (1) sabbatical of up to six (6) months or (2) a sabbatical of up to one (1) year after working thirteen (13) years. Employees granted a sabbatical will receive medical, dental and life insurance benefits consistent with their FTE level, subject to the availability of insurance coverage, and will retain their seniority. The total number of sabbatical leaves that may be granted during any one calendar year will not exceed three (3). An employee granted a sabbatical agrees to return to regular employment with the Hospital following sabbatical for at least one (1) year. Employees returning from sabbatical leave of no more than six (6) months shall be reinstated to their prior position. Thereafter, employees will be reinstated to the first available position in their job classification (or lesser paid job in the same classification series) for which they are qualified, unless a more senior employee in the classification and in the unit or department applies for the position. Within forty-five (45) days of returning from a sabbatical leave, the employee will provide a report(s) regarding the knowledge gained while on leave to the manager of the department and their co-workers in a format mutually agreed upon. An employee is eligible to apply for another sabbatical only after seven (7) years have elapsed after the original sabbatical leave. The ABC Committee shall recommend criteria for selection of the candidates and other guidelines for administering the sabbatical leave. The final decision to grant or deny a sabbatical will be made by the Employer.
S abbatical Leave. 7.081 Upon presentation to the Superintendent and Building Principal, of a plan for professional growth, sabbatical leave may be granted to a bargaining unit member for a period of no longer than one (1) school year pursuant to Section 3319.131 of the Ohio Revised Code. A member on sabbatical leave shall receive part pay as defined in Section 3319.131, and shall be permitted to continue his/her insurance coverage at his/her own expense by making monthly payments as directed by the Treasurer. The request for sabbatical leave must be received by the Superintendent in writing not later than March 1 of the school year preceding the school year for which the sabbatical leave is requested. The Superintendent shall act on the request by April 1.
S abbatical Leave. Pursuant to Section 24-6.1, as amended, of the Illinois School Code, a member of the faculty who has completed at least six (6) years of contractual continued service to Xxxxxxx-Xxxxxxxxxxx Community High School on a full-time basis may be granted a sabbatical leave of absence for a period of at least four (4) school months but not in excess of one (1) school year for resident study, research, travel, or other purposes designed to improve the school system.

  • Family Medical Leave or Critical Illness Leave a) Family Medical Leave or Critical Illness leaves granted to a permanent Teacher or long-term Occasional Teacher under this Article shall be in accordance with the provisions of the Employment Standards Act, 2000, as amended.

  • Casual Leave (a) Employees may be granted casual leave with pay to a maximum of two (2) hours for the following purposes:

  • Medical Leaves of Absence When recommended by an employee's personal physician in writing, a medical leave of absence for a three (3) month period will be granted by the Sheriff. Such leave may be extended for a like three (3) month period or shorter period, within the sole discretion of the Sheriff, up to a maximum of one (1) year. Such extension, if granted, shall be based upon the written certification by the employee's physician that the continued illness or disability precludes the employee from working and the continuation of the leave of absence is necessary. Such leave, up to a maximum of three (3) months, if granted, will be allowed and credited as continuous county service, i.e. seniority continues for the three (3) months only. The employee shall be entitled to his former position or a position for which he is able and capable of performing upon return to work. A medical leave of absence shall be without pay and other fringe benefits, except an employee may use his accumulated sick leave time and accumulated vacation time to avoid loss of wages during such leave.
