SHIFT AND WEEKEND WORK. 18.1 Employees shall be paid the following percentages in addition to their ordinary pay, and where applicable, the 20% casual loading, for shifts rostered as follows:
(a) 10% for afternoon shift commencing after 10:30 a.m. and before 1:00 p.m.
(b) 12.5% for afternoon shift commencing at or after 1:00 p.m. and before 4:00 p.m.
(c) 15% for night shift commencing at or after 4:00 p.m. and before 4:00 a.m.
(d) 10% for night shift commencing at or after 4:00 a.m. and before 6:00 a.m.
(e) Laundry staff working afternoon or night shift continuously from 30 September, 1993 shall be paid 20% in addition to the ordinary pay for such shift.
(a) Notwithstanding sub-clause 18.1, employees working less than the hours prescribed for a full-time employee within Clause 14 - Hours shall only be entitled to the additional rates where their shifts commence prior to 6:00a.m. or finish subsequent to 7:00 p.m.
(b) The employer may agree to the written request of an employee to work what would normally be a day shift job outside of day shift hours and not be paid any shift or weekend penalties.
(i) No employee shall be coerced into requesting such a pattern of hours.
(ii) An arrangement agreed under this subclause must not change or affect any other employee's number or pattern of working hours.
(iii) The employee may opt out of an agreed arrangement under this subclause at any time by providing two weeks' written notice, in which case the employee shall revert to the original day shift roster and pattern of hours.
18.3 Employees shall be paid the following penalties for ordinary hours of work occurring on a Saturday or a Sunday:
(a) for work between midnight on Friday and midnight on Saturday - time and one half.
(b) for work between midnight on Saturday and midnight on Sunday - time and three- quarters. These extra rates shall be in substitution for and not cumulative upon the shift allowances prescribed in the preceding sub-clauses 18.1 and 18.2.
SHIFT AND WEEKEND WORK. 19.1 Employees shall be paid the following penalties, calculated on their ordinary pay, for shifts rostered in accordance with the following. Provided that part time and casual employees shall only be entitled to the additional rates where their shifts commence prior to 6:00a.m., or finish subsequent to 7:00 p.m :
(a) 10% for afternoon shift commencing after 10:30 am and before 1:00 pm.
(b) 12.5% for afternoon shift commencing at or after 1:00 pm and before 4:00 pm.
(c) 15% for night shift commencing at or after 4:00 pm and before 4:00 am.
(d) 10% for night shift commencing at or after 4:00 am and before 6:00 am.
(e) Laundry staff working afternoon or night shift continuously from 30 September, 1993 shall be paid 20% in addition to the ordinary pay for such shift.
(f) The shift penalties above do not apply to Directors of Nursing; Deputy Directors of Nursing and Assistant Directors of Nursing.
(g) In addition to applicable shift penalties casual employees will also be entitled to the casual loading calculated on their base rate of pay.
19.2 Employees shall be paid the following penalties for ordinary hours of work occurring on a Saturday or a Sunday:
(a) for work between midnight on Friday and midnight on Saturday - time and one half.
(b) for work between midnight on Saturday and midnight on Sunday - time and three-quarters. These weekend penalties shall be in substitution for and not cumulative upon the shift penalties prescribed in sub-clause 19.1 and the casual loading at sub-clause 13.2(a).
SHIFT AND WEEKEND WORK. 18.1 Employees, other than Home Care Employees and Health Professionals, shall be paid the following penalties, calculated on their ordinary pay, for shifts rostered in accordance with the following. Provided that part time and casual employees shall only be entitled to the additional rates where their shifts commence prior to 6:00 am, or finish subsequent to 6:00 pm:
(a) 10% for afternoon shift commencing after 10:00 am and before 1:00 pm.
(b) 12.5% for afternoon shift commencing at or after 1:00 pm and before 4:00 pm.
(c) 15% for night shift commencing at or after 4:00 pm and before 4:00 am.
(d) 10% for night shift commencing at or after 4:00 am and before 6:00 am.
(e) The shift penalties above do not apply to Directors of Nursing; Deputy Directors of Nursing and Assistant Directors of Nursing.
18.2 Home Care Employees shall be paid the following penalties, calculated on their ordinary pay, for shifts rostered in accordance with the following.
(a) 12.5% for afternoon shift which finishes after 8.00 pm and at or before 12 midnight Monday to Friday.
(b) 15% for night shift which finishes after 12 midnight or commences before 6.00 am Monday to Friday.
18.3 Where the ordinary rostered hours of work of a Health Professional, who is a shift worker, finish between 6.00 pm and 8.00 am or commence between 6.00 pm and 6.00 am, the employee will be paid an additional loading of 15% of their ordinary rate of pay
(a) For the purpose of clause 18.3 a Health Professional is a shift worker if they are regularly rostered to work their ordinary hours outside the ordinary hours of 6am to 6pm, Mon-Fri.
18.4 In addition to applicable shift penalties, in clauses 18.1, 18.2 and 18.3, casual employees will also be entitled to the casual loading calculated on their ordinary rate of pay.
18.5 Employees shall be paid the following penalties for ordinary hours of work occurring on a Saturday or a Sunday:
(a) for work between midnight on Friday and midnight on Saturday - time and one half.
(b) for work between midnight on Saturday and midnight on Sunday:
(i) time and three-quarters for employees other than Home Care Employees; and
(ii) double time for Home Care Employees.
18.6 Weekend penalties in clause 18.5 shall be in substitution for and not cumulative upon the shift penalties prescribed in clauses 18.1,18.2 and 18.3.
18.7 Weekend penalties in clause 18.5 shall be in substitution for and not cumulative upon the casual loading at sub-clause 12.2(a) for all employees other than As...
SHIFT AND WEEKEND WORK. (a) Where an Employee works a rostered afternoon shift between Monday and Friday, the Employee will be paid a loading of 12.5% of their ordinary rate of pay.
(b) Where an Employee works a rostered night shift between Monday and Friday, the Employee will be paid a loading of 15% of their ordinary rate of pay.
(c) The provisions of this clause do not apply where an Employee commences their ordinary hours of work after 12.00 noon and completes those hours at or before 6.00 pm on that day.
(d) For the purposes of this clause:
(i) Afternoon shift means any shift commencing not earlier than 12.00 noon and finishing after 6.00 pm on the same day; and
(ii) Night shift means any shift commencing on or after 6.00 pm and finishing before 7.30 am on the following day.
(e) The shift penalties prescribed in this clause will not apply to shiftwork performed by an Employee on Saturday, Sunday or public holiday where the extra payment is prescribed by this Agreement.
(f) Where an Employee is rostered to work ordinary hours between midnight Friday and midnight Saturday, the Employee will be paid a loading of 50% of their ordinary rate of pay for the hours worked during this period.
(g) Where an Employee is rostered to work ordinary hours between midnight Saturday and midnight Sunday, the Employee will be paid a loading of 75% of their ordinary rate of pay for the hours worked during this period.
(h) Notwithstanding clause 19(d) and clause 22(g) and (h) of this Agreement, where a casual Enrolled Nurse Level 1 is rostered to work ordinary hours between midnight Friday and midnight Sunday, the Employee will be paid at the rates set out at Appendix 1, Table 1, of the Agreement.
SHIFT AND WEEKEND WORK. 29.1 Employees shall be paid the following percentages in addition to their ordinary pay, and where applicable, the applicable casual loading, for shifts rostered as follows: Afternoon shift A: Commencing after 10:30 a.m. and before 1:00 p.m. 10% Afternoon shift B: Commencing at or after 1:00 p.m. and before 4:00 p.m. 12.5% Night shift A: Commencing at or after 4:00 p.m. and before 4:00 a.m. 15% Night shift B: Commencing at or after 4:00 a.m. and before 6:00 a.m. 10% Laundry Staff – pre 1993 Laundry staff working afternoon or night shift continuously from 30 September, 1993 20%
29.2 Notwithstanding subclause 29.1 above, employees working less than the hours prescribed for a full‐time employee within Clause 25 ‐ Hours shall only be entitled to the additional rates where their shifts commence prior to 6:00 a.m. or finish subsequent to 7:00 p.m.
29.3 Employees shall be paid the following penalties for ordinary hours of work occurring on a Saturday or a Sunday:
a) For work between midnight on Friday and midnight on Saturday ‐ time and one half.
b) For work between midnight on Saturday and midnight on Sunday – time and three quarters.
c) These extra rates shall be in substitution for and not cumulative upon the shift allowances prescribed in the preceding subclause 29.1.
SHIFT AND WEEKEND WORK. (1) A loading of 15 per cent of the ordinary wage shall be paid for time worked on an afternoon or night shift of at least eight hours, as defined hereunder:
(a) Afternoon Shift - commencing between 12 noon and 6.00 p.m.
(b) Night Shift - commencing at or between 6.00 p.m. and 4.00 a.m.
(2) An employee shall be paid for ordinary hours worked between midnight on Friday and midnight on Saturday at the rate of time and one half and between midnight on Saturday and midnight on Sunday, at the rate of double time. All work performed on Public Holidays shall be paid at the rate of double time and one half.
(3) The rates prescribed in (2) hereof shall be in substitution for and not cumulative on the rate prescribed in subclause (1) of this clause.
(4) A shift employee who is regularly rostered to work Sundays and Public Holidays and who is not required to work on a holiday which falls on his/her day off, shall be allowed a day’s leave with pay to be added to his/her annual leave or taken at some other time if the employee so agrees.
(5) Unless otherwise provided in this Award, there shall be a minimum break of eight hours for any employee between the completion of one roster by that employee and his commencement on another roster.

a. Full Time Employees, (and Part Time or Casual Employees where their rostered shifts commence prior to 6.00am or finish after 6.00pm) are entitled to the following shift allowances calculated on their basic periodic rate of pay for shifts rostered: Full-Time Part-Time* Casual* Night Shift From 4.00pm and before 4.00am 15% Casual Employees are entitled to the casual loading in clause H1 and the allowances above, where applicable.
b. Employees are entitled to the following weekend allowances calculated on their basic periodic rate of pay for ordinary hours worked on a weekend: Saturday (midnight Friday to midnight Saturday) Time and one-half (150%) Sunday (midnight Saturday to midnight Sunday) Time and three-quarters (175%) Weekend allowances are paid instead of shift allowances and casual loadings, where applicable.
c. Where an Employee works hours which would entitle that Employee to payment for more than one of the allowances payable in accordance with the overtime, public holidays, shift and penalty provisions of this Agreement, only the highest of any such allowance will be payable.
SHIFT AND WEEKEND WORK. 22.1 Employees, other than those providing Community Care Services, shall be paid the following penalties, calculated on their ordinary pay, for shifts rostered in accordance with the following. Provided that part time and casual employees shall only be entitled to the additional rates where their shifts commence prior to 6:00 am, or finish subsequent to 6:00 pm:
(a) 10% for afternoon shift commencing after 10:00 am and before 1:00 pm.
(b) 12.5% for afternoon shift commencing at or after 1:00 pm and before 4:00 pm.
(c) 15% for night shift commencing at or after 4:00 pm and before 4:00 am.
(d) 10% for night shift commencing at or after 4:00 am and before 6:00 am.
22.2 Employees involved in the provision of Community Care Services, shall be paid the following penalties, calculated on their ordinary pay, for shifts rostered in accordance with the following.
(a) 12.5% for afternoon shift which finishes after 8.00 pm and at or before 12 midnight Monday to Friday.
(b) 15% for night shift which finishes after 12 midnight or commences before 6.00 am Monday to Friday.
22.3 In addition to applicable shift penalties, described above, casual employees will also be entitled to the casual loading calculated on their ordinary rate of pay.
22.4 Permanent employees other than those engaged primarily in community services work, shall be paid the following penalties for ordinary hours of work occurring on a Saturday or a Sunday:
(a) for work between midnight on Friday and midnight on Saturday - time and one half.
(b) for work between midnight on Saturday and midnight on Sunday time and three- quarters.
22.5 Permanent employees engaged primarily in community services work, shall be paid the following penalties for ordinary hours of work occurring on a Saturday or a Sunday:
(a) for work between midnight on Friday and midnight on Saturday - time and one half.
(b) for work between midnight on Saturday and midnight on Sunday double time.
22.6 A casual employee who works on a weekend will be paid the following rates:
(a) for work between midnight on Friday and midnight on Saturday - time and three quarters.
(b) for work between midnight on Saturday and midnight on Sunday – double time and one quarter.
