Sick Day Donation. Teachers may donate up to two (2) Accumulated Sick Leave Days per occurrence to another teacher who, in the case of extended illness, has exhausted his/her current year Sick Leave Days and Personal Business Leave Days and his/her Accumulated Sick Leave Days. If the teacher suffers another medical occurrence in a given school year, teachers may donate up to an additional two (2) Accumulated Sick Leave Days to that teacher. The maximum number of Accumulated Sick Leave Days that may be donated to a given teacher in a given school year is sixty (60). A request for such donations will be made through the President of the Association. The requesting teacher will confirm the request through a physician’s certificate provided to the President of the Association and the Superintendent. With the consent of the teacher making the request, the Association President xxxx xxxxxx the request to teachers and will circulate an appropriate form among teachers. Completed donation forms will be submitted to the Superintendent by the President of the Association.

Sick Day Donation. A. Any district employee may become a member of the bank provided that they meet the following requirements: 1. Are a permanent employee of the Hillside Board of Education; 2. Have completed two consecutive years of employment; 3. Have already banked no less than fifteen (15) sick days; and 4. Are willing to donate one (1) sick day and no more than one sick day to the Bank.
Sick Day Donation. Employees will be allowed to donate up to three (3) available sick days per year for the purpose of assisting another employee in the same classification who has exhausted all sick leave and where it has been determined that said employee has a catastrophic illness. A catastrophic illness shall be determined at the sole discretion of the Superintendent of Schools. This article shall not be grievable at any level and ay decision by the Superintendent shall be deemed to be final.
Sick Day Donation. When a bargaining unit member is absent due to a catastrophic or long-term illness or disability and has exhausted all of his/her sick and personal leave, the Association may upon written request from the member, request other bargaining unit members offer the donation of sick days. The donation of sick days shall be confidential and on a non-precedential, case-by-case basis. The provisions of this sick day donation shall not be subject to the arbitration or grievance procedures. The donation of sick days shall be limited so that it does not extend a person’s leave beyond the limits of FMLA leave.
Sick Day Donation. In the event an employee or their immediate family suffers a serious illness and has exhausted accumulated sick and personal leave, the other employees shall be allowed to contribute a maximum of three (3) sick leave days to said employee per school year. If multiple employees or their immediate family suffer a serious illness, the other employees shall be allowed to contribute a maximum of three (3) sick leave days to each of these sick employees or their immediate family per school year. A. Employees entitled to an approved Family Medical Leave Act leave who exhaust their available sick, personal, and (if applicable) vacation days may apply to use days donated for their colleagues’ identified needs. Approval to access donated sick days will be reviewed with final approval by the Superintendent. B. Upon approval of an employee’s request to access donated days, the Superintendent will inform staff of the request. Employees may choose to donate up to 3 sick leave days to offset the need identified and approved in (1) above. All days donated will be documented in a log with donor name and number of days donated. C. When an employee on approved medical leave accesses the donated days, days will be taken in first offered, first deducted order with one (1) day taken from each donor at a time. Additional days will be deducted in this same fashion until all donated days are exhausted. Should additional days be needed, another request for donations will be made by the Superintendent. D. Any sick days donated but not used by the employee will be returned to the donating employee at the end of the leave or the last day of the contract year, whichever comes first.
Sick Day Donation. A Unit II employee may donate up to fifteen (15) hours1 of his/her accumulated sick leave to another Unit II Employee who has used (or shall use) all of his/her sick leave and is facing personal long term illness or death of a family member (as defined in Article 14 of the contract). A transfer of sick leave is only allowed if the donating employee’s wage is greater than or equal to2 the recipient’s wage. A Unit II employee may not receive more than a total of seventy-five (75) donated hours during the period of a school year. An employee shall not receive more than two hundred and twenty-five (225) hours during the employee’s duration of employment at the WISD. An employee’s participation is strictly voluntary. An employee who wants to transfer earned sick leave to a Unit II employee of their choice may apply to do so by completing the Transfer of Sick Leave form and submitting it to the Human Resources Department. Any employee that wants to utilize sick leave (donated or otherwise) must complete the standard leave of absence request form furnished by Management and follow the procedure set forth in the Unit II contract. The Sick Day donation provision will sunset at the end of this contract term unless renewed by the parties. 1 One workday equals 7.5 hours. 2 It is not an even exchange if an employee donates time to an employee who receives a higher rate of pay.
Sick Day Donation a. The Association shall be solely responsible for administering and coordinating the following Sick Day Donation Procedures: 1. No member receiving Worker's Compensation benefits will be eligible to apply for a Sick Day Donation. 2. All applications for such donation will be sent to the Association President accompanied by a required physician's statement as to the nature of the illness and the need to be off work. 3.   • Sick Leave Donation 10.3.1 A worker may donate days of sick leave to individual District workers who, due to a serious health condition, have exhausted all accumulated sick leave. Donating workers must retain a sixty (60) day balance of sick leave after their donation. No worker may receive more than 40 days of donated leave per year. 10.3.1.1 A “serious health condition” is defined as an illness, injury, impairment or physical or mental condition which involves inpatient care in a hospital, hospice, or residential health care facility, or continuing treatment or continuing supervision by a health care provider as defined in 29 USC 825.114(a) and as certified by a worker’s physician or other qualified medical practitioner. 10.3.1.2 The Vice Chancellor of Human Resources and the Chief Stewards by mutual agreement will verify the certification for eligibility. If the certification from the worker’s physician is insufficient, a certification by a physician of the District’s choosing may be required, at District expense. The District may require additional medical opinions. 10.3.2 Donated leave must be in one-day increments (no less than 8 hours). Recipients of donated sick leave shall be solely responsible for any state and federal taxes on the donated time. Such taxes shall be withheld at the normal rate for the recipient worker. In the event that the state or federal governments rule that tax liability is due other than as taxed, the recipient shall be solely liable for such liabilities. 10.3.2.1 The donated sick leave may be used only when the worker has exhausted accumulated sick leave and either is not eligible for long- term disability or is eligible but has not begun to receive the long-term coverage. 10.3.2.2 The Vice Chancellor of Human Resources shall be notified of solicitation of donations. Solicitations of donations may be made by the individual or his/her representative(s). 10.3.2.3 Donation of sick leave shall be authorized by a signed pledge form prepared by and filed with the District Office of Human Resources. In the event several workers donate sick leave, the sick leave shall be used in the order in which the signed pledge forms are filed with Human Resources. 10.3.2.4 If the worker does not use all donated sick leave, the sick leave shall be returned to the donating worker(s).

  • Holiday During Vacation If a holiday, named under Article 7 of this Agreement, falls within the vacation period of an employee, he shall be granted an additional day's pay in lieu of the holiday.

  • Leave Donation An employee may donate vacation leave, sick leave, or personal holiday to another employee for purposes of the leave sharing program under the following conditions: A. The College approves the employee’s request to donate a specified amount of vacation leave to an employee authorized to receive shared leave; and 1. The full-time employee’s request to donate leave will not cause their vacation leave balance to fall below eighty (80) hours. For part-time employees, requirements for vacation leave balances will be prorated; and 2. Employees may not donate excess vacation leave that they would not be able to take due to an approaching anniversary date; except when the request for vacation leave was denied and the vacation leave was deferred. B. The College approves the employee’s request to donate a specified amount of sick leave to an employee authorized to receive shared leave. The employee’s request to donate leave will not cause their sick leave balance to fall below one hundred seventy-six (176) hours after the transfer. C. The College approves the employee’s request to donate all or part of their personal holiday to an employee authorized to receive shared leave. 1. That portion of a personal holiday that is accrued, donated as shared leave, and then returned during the same calendar year to the donating employee, may be taken by the donating employee in full day increments. 2. An employee will be allowed to split the personal holiday only when donating a portion of the personal holiday to the shared leave program. D. No employee may be intimidated, threatened, coerced, or financially induced into donating leave for purposes of this program.

  • Holiday Premium Pay A Nurse working on a recognized Holiday is entitled to the following compensation for any hours worked on the calendar date of the recognized Holiday: A. A Full-Time or Part-Time Nurse who is regularly scheduled to work on a recognized Holiday shall be paid at the rate of one and one-half times (1.5 x) the Nurse’s regular rate of pay; or B. A Nurse who works overtime (as defined in Article 7.07) on a recognized Holiday shall be paid at the rate of two times (2 x) the Nurse’s regular rate of pay for the overtime worked.

  • Holiday Pay A. On each of the holidays designated above, each full-time employee scheduled to work but permitted to take the day off shall receive pay computed at the employee's basic hourly rate for the number of hours the employee was regularly scheduled to work. B. On each of the holidays designated above, each part-time employee scheduled to work but permitted to take the day off shall receive pay computed at the employee’s basic hourly rate for the number of hours the employee was regularly scheduled to work.

  • Sick Leave Bank The school corporation agrees to, and hereby establishes a voluntary sick leave bank to which certificated persons may contribute unused sick leave days, and from which a contributing individual may draw sick leave days when the individual’s annual and accumulated sick leave days are exhausted, in accordance with the following provisions. Please see the definitions of sick leave under Article IV. 1. The sick leave bank shall apply to all persons employed by the school corporation whose employment requires the holding of a license issued by the Indiana Department of Education, whether or not any such person is a member of the bargaining unit to which this contract applies. 2. A “contributing individual” is one who, within the first thirty (30) days of the contract year, signs a contribution form. Such contribution form shall require the assigning of one (1) day of sick leave to the sick leave bank and an individual may contribute up to five (5) total days if so motivated during any enrollment period. 3. A person shall cease to be a contributing individual upon the failure of such individual to sign such contribution form and such individual shall thereafter not be entitled to draw any sick leave days from the sick leave bank until becoming a contributing member the following year. 4. Present and new faculty members who wish to become “contributing individuals” may do so by following the procedure in paragraph two (2). Staff who hire in after the annual enrollment period closes can still enroll under equivalent timelines as original enrollment period. 5. Use of the sick leave bank shall be subject to the following limitations: a. Sick bank leave shall be used on a teacher’s first day receiving no pay as long as the teacher has exhausted all accumulated sick days, as well as all annual sick and personal days. Days may need to be allotted retroactively to allow time for the sick bank committee to meet and review the request. In the event a teacher on sick bank leave returns to work and then finds it necessary on advice of a doctor to take additional leave for the same disability, no additional days shall be deducted subject to the approve of the Sick Bank Review Committee. b. In the even a teacher is disabled as a result of illness or injury of a different nature during the same school year, any additional sick leave bank time granted is subject to approval of the Sick Bank Review Committee. c. Sick bank leave shall be used for the purposes permitted by the Federal Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and must be supported by a written request by the contributing individual and the appropriate FMLA certification specifying the nature of the illness and prognosis report for the teacher’s return to work. d. Days taken from the sick leave bank shall apply only to those days on which a teacher would receive pay if the teacher were not under disability. e. All contractual leave days shall be waived while drawing pay from the sick leave bank so that a teacher in no case will be drawing double pay for any day. f. This sick leave bank section shall not operate in any manner such that any teacher receiving workers compensation benefits receives more than such teacher’s regular pay. g. Paid holidays, if any, shall not be charged against the sick leave bank, but shall be compensated for under the terms of the teacher’s contract. h. Sick leave bank days shall not be used during summer school employment, nor shall such days be used at any other times except the regular school year. i. Leave from the sick leave bank may not be used for maternity or childbirth leave, but may be used for any physical disability arising out of a pregnancy. j. Teachers who, as of the beginning of the school year in which sick leave bank benefits are requested and used, have accumulated the following number of sick leave days under the sick leave section of this contract, shall be eligible to draw up to a maximum number of days from the sick leave bank in any single year as follows: (1) 0-10: Up to 60 days (2) 11-40: Up to 90 days (3) 41 or over: Up to 120 days k. Teachers may be awarded fewer than maximum days (listed in Section j) at the discretion of the Sick Bank Review Committee. 6. Should the sick leave bank fall to a thirty (30) day balance during a school year, an additional contribution will be requested and will count toward the subsequent enrollment period. 7. A Sick Bank Review Committee shall be formed and shall be comprised of three (3) members appointed by the exclusive representative and one (1) individual appointed by the Superintendent. The committee shall consider and review all requests for use of sick bank days to ensure that all applications submitted, and any grants made, are in accordance with the provisions of this contract. 8. The school district shall notify certificated employees of the enrollment period for the sick bank, including required contribution forms and appropriate deadlines, within the first five (5) school days of each school year. 9. If there are seven hundred and fifty (750) days in the bank at the time of open enrollment, no contribution will be necessary unless it falls below the previously described number of thirty (30) days.

  • Paid Holiday Bank Employees qualify in accordance with the collective agreement. The paid holidays are identified in the Collective Agreement. Credit to the paid holiday bank will occur on the date of the holiday. Drawing from the paid holiday bank will occur at an accelerated rate of 1.25 hours paid for every hour taken (i.e. 11.25 hours worked equals 14.05 hours paid; 7.5 hours worked equals 9.375 hours paid).

  • Sick Days Employees will be provided with 6 sick days per calendar year. Sick days are paid at 75% of the employee’s step rate.

  • Sick Time An employee shall have all of his/her accrued sick leave credits transferred when the employee is transferred to a different State agency.

  • Sick Leave Donation Program A Labor Management Committee will be established for the purpose of proposing rules and procedures for a new, program. The LMC will be to develop consistent, transparent and equitable proposals for processes across all departments within the City. The LMC shall also explore proposals to lower the minimum leave bank required to donate sick leave and permit donation of sick leave upon separation from the City. The LMC must consult with the Office of Civil Rights to ensure compliance with the City’s Race and Social Justice Initiative. Once the LMC has developed its list of proposals, the City and Coalition of City Unions agrees to reopen each contract on this subject.
