Special Education Training Sample Clauses
The Special Education Training clause requires that certain individuals, such as teachers or staff, receive specific training related to special education practices and requirements. Special Education Training. Prior to the Charter Holder’s provision of educational instruction under this Charter, the Charter Representative shall attend the full-day Special Education Training for Newly Chartered Schools sponsored by the Arizona Department of Education, Exceptional Student Services.
Special Education Training. 36 The District will provide Special Education (SLC, , Pathways, One-to-One, RR, TAP, and 37 ECE) Paraeducators with training on a Waiver Day, or one of their allotted in-service days, in 38 the following areas: general mobility training for physically handicapped children, general 39 discipline training, and general restraint training. On an as needed basis, the District will 40 provide individual training to any employee specifically assigned to feed a medically fragile 41 student and/or provide toileting to a handicapped student. 42 43 Special Education paraeducator, who do not have current certification, will be required to 44 register for Right Response training (14 hours) at their time of hire. Training shall be 45 completed at one of the next two offerings by the District. Recertification of this training (7 46 hours) must be completed annually before the expiration of the original certificate. Staff whose 47 certification lapses will not be compensated for the time required to become fully certified, 48 provided the District has offered classes prior to the expiration of the certification. Special Education Training and Inservice
1) The District shall provide teaching staff with resources and technical support, (e.g. time, Program Support Teacher consultation, materials, District courses) to implement new instructional programming strategies for students with disabilities.
2) Annually, by October 1, all members of the bargaining unit shall receive written notice as to whether there have been any changes in special education law and/or District special education policy/procedures changes. Thereafter, all staff will be informed verbally or in writing, on a timely basis, of any changes. All new special education and support services staff (teachers), within the first sixty (60) days of employment, will be provided orientation regarding District special education policies and procedures and current law. For all other new teachers said orientation will be held within the first sixty (60) days of each semester. Staff will be released from their regular duties to attend such orientation or be compensated through extended employment (Section III-I) or Professional Advancement Credit (Section III-H), at the option of the teacher. The inservice program shall be designed by a committee which includes half District and half MTI appointed representatives. Criteria for membership on the Committee will be established by MTI and the District. Bargaining unit members designated to design special education inservice programs shall be released from their regular duties for said purpose without loss of compensation.

Any Teacher responsible for the instruction, supervision, and/or assistance of a special education student shall be provided reasonable in-service and training in the techniques for servicing such student as well as appropriate support all as determined by the Superintendent or designee.

Any employee who is responsible for the instruction, supervision, and/or assistance of a special education student assigned to him/her shall be provided reasonable in-service and training in the techniques for servicing such student as well as appropriate support as determined by the Superintendent or designee. Paraprofessionals may request approval from the Superintendent or designee to attend professional development related to their assignment. The decision to approve or deny by the Superintendent shall be final.

On an 11 as needed basis, the District will provide individual training to any employee 12 specifically assigned to feed a medically fragile student and/or provide toileting to a 13 handicapped student. 15 Special education para-educators will be required to complete Right Response training 16 (14 hours) before beginning their classroom assignment. Effective September 1, 2015, 17 all current special education para-educators will have one (1) year to comply with the 18 requirements of this training. Staff members not 20 complying with this training requirement will be subject to progressive discipline. This 21 paid training is not to be deducted from staff development in-service.

Coursework or employment experiences that provide an individual with the knowledge of (a) the exceptional needs of the disabilities defined under the Special Education Act, (b) the major characteristics of each disability in order to recognize its existence in children, (c) the various alternatives for providing the least restrictive environment for children with disabilities, (d) methods of teaching children with disabilities in the regular classroom, and (e) pre-referral alternatives, referral systems, multidisciplinary team responsibilities, the individualized education plan process, and the placement process.
Special Education Training. 12 The District will provide the following training for Special Education (SLC, Pathways, One- 13 to-One, RR, TAP, and ECE) Paraeducators: 15 • Foundational de-escalation for all Special Education Paraeducators. 17 In addition, Special Education paraeducators who work directly with students who 18 escalate are required to become and remain certified in a district adopted de-escalation 19 certification course. Newly hired staff, who are identified in a position where a student 20 escalates, will be required to register for the next available course upon being 21 hired. After becoming initially certified, staff continuing in said position will be required 22 to recertify each year. On an as needed basis, the District will provide individual training to 23 any employee specifically assigned to support the specialized feeding, positioning, transfer 24 and/or toileting needs of student with a physical disability. 25 26 Recertification of this training must be completed annually before the expiration of the original 27 certificate, as long as staff remain in said positions. Staff whose certification lapses will not 28 be compensated for the time required to become fully certified, provided the District has 29 offered classes prior to the expiration of the certification. Staff members not complying with 30 this training requirement will be subject to progressive discipline. These required paid 31 trainings are not to be deducted from staff professional development extra hours.
