EDUCATION POLICY. The Employer and the Union agree that one of the means of improving the quality of nursing care and the delivery of health-care services is to provide opportunities for nurses to acquire, and put into practice, knowledge and skills essential to this end. The Employer and the Union also recognize that the responsibility for continuing education of nurses is shared by the individual nurse, the professional organization, the Employer, education institutions, and health-care agencies.

EDUCATION POLICY. The parties to this agreement recognize the value of higher educational training and the benefits which accrue to both the individual and to the Canton Fire Department from such academic development. Accordingly, the City of Canton will provide partial tuition reimbursement as specified below to individual members of the Fire Department who participate in University level courses that are related to and useful in Fire Department employment. EDUCATION POLICY. 24.01 The Company recognizes the importance of continuing education and encourages employees to investigate and participate in courses which further job-related skills. Employees are invited to approach the Department Manager and/or Human Resources regarding courses of this nature. All requests will be considered, and if found to be job-related, will not be unreasonably denied. Only courses which have been pre-approved in writing will be reimbursed by the company, upon proof of successful completion with passing grades, including all required texts and tuition fees. The Company will grant adequate time off to employees attending approved courses that are offered during working hours.
