TEACHER’S DAY. 031 TEACHER WORK DAY: The starting and dismissal times for students may vary from building to building provided, however, the length of the teachers’ work day does not exceed seven and one-half (7 1/2) hours and the time for students is within the statutes set forth by the State of Ohio.
TEACHER’S DAY. The teachers’ day shall consist of seven and one-half (7 ½) hours for elementary school teachers and seven and one-quarter (7 ¼) hours for secondary school teachers. This includes a duty-free lunch period. While the above provides for the basic teaching day, the Association recognizes that each teacher has a professional responsibility to his/her students and to the District that may require him/her to devote additional time for careful daily preparation, grading papers, attending staff meetings, school functions, meeting with parents in conference, preparing reports and such work relating to his/her function as a teacher. If circumstances require any deviation from the aforementioned times, the Administration and the Association shall mutually agree on the teaching day for the staff involved.
TEACHER’S DAY. 1. The contract day for all full-time bargaining unit members shall be a continuous period of 7 hours and 15 minutes, scheduled between the hours of 7:20 a.m. and 3:40 p.m., including a 30-minute duty-free lunchtime. Unit members may be permitted to leave the premises during lunchtime with advance notice to the Building Principal or designee. Variations may be made in the regular contract day to allow for different schedules for parent/teacher conferences. 2. In addition to the contract day, teachers shall be required to work ninety (90) floating minutes per month outside of the contract day to be scheduled in increments of no less than thirty (30) minutes. The floating minutes will be scheduled as determined by the Superintendent by the first day of school and shall be used for planning or professional development. The floating minutes shall be scheduled on regular school days. 3. Days on which there is a delay, teachers will not be required to report to work until fifteen (15) minutes prior to the beginning of school. 4. Should any permanent change in the normal beginning and ending times of the regular school day be necessary, the Association-Administration Committee shall meet to discuss any changes prior to implementation of such changes. 5. Each certificated/licensed staff member shall be scheduled so as to receive at least 200 minutes of planning/conference time per normal work week. Planning/conference time shall be scheduled in blocks of time no less than 15 minutes each. Such planning/conference time will be scheduled equitably among staff in each level; high school, middle school, and elementary. All part-time/half-time employees shall receive a planning period. 6. Staff who voluntarily agree to morning supervision duty or bus duty which extends their contractual workday will receive compensatory time on an hour for hour basis. 7. Calamity Days When the Superintendent decides to close the school on account of a calamity or emergency staff shall not report to work, and the following procedures shall apply. a. The first five (5) calamity days of any school year shall not be made up and are without any loss of wages or fringe benefits. b. Upon annual Board approval, calamity days six (6), seven (7) and eight (8), individual teachers shall prepare blizzard bag/Electronic Day (“eDay”) lessons. c. The Board of Education has the right, except as provided below, to schedule classes, determine their length and content, and assign teacher's duties within a seven and one-half (7 1/2) hour day. TEACHER’S DAY. Teachers shall report to work twenty minutes (20) prior to the start of the school day and shall be present in their classrooms when children arrive for the morning and afternoon sessions. Teachers may depart at the end of the school day upon completion of their professional responsibilities. Consistent with past practice, the teacher professional day shall not be more than 5 hours/55 minutes exclusive of a duty free lunch period and faculty meetings as stated in Paragraphs B and C of this Article.

TEACHER’S DAY. Non-instructional time is considered a regular part of the school day and is subject to the supervision of the principal or administrator. It is the responsibility of each faculty member to attend all called and regularly scheduled faculty, department or subject area meetings. Arrival and departure times may vary only as the building principal authorizes. Responsibilities or special assignments for this time can be made by the building principal.

The distribution of the total time of 54, 54 or 45 minutes may be adjusted by the building principal after discussion with the building representatives. The work day for special service personnel and specialist teachers shall conform to the teacher's day in the school in which they are working. Exceptions are made on the last day of any school week or on the day preceding a vacation at the discretion of the Building Principal.
