Temporary Pay. When a bargaining unit employee is assigned the duties of an absent employee in a higher pay grade, in lieu of her/his own duties, the employee will be paid at her/his regular hourly rate or the higher pay grade rate, whichever is greater.
Temporary Pay. A. It is understood that the Employer may from time to time assign employees to temporary positions or temporarily reassign employees to regular positions of a higher classification within the bargaining unit. Such temporary assignments or reassignments may be made for any reason deemed by Management to be in the best interests of the Department and such actions are expressly reserved as a right of Management. B. When an employee is temporarily assigned by Management for more than ten percent (10%) of their work hours within two (2) consecutive pay periods to a higher job classification which has a higher pay range, the employee shall be paid and additional five percent (5%) of their established base pay rate. This additional compensatory adjustment is subject to prior approval of the Department Head and the Director of Human Resources and this authorization must be formally communicated in writing to the employee prior to performing the additional duties. C. The Department Head and the Director of Human Resources reserve the right to award an amount less than the five (5) percent temporary-duty pay in those instances where only a portion of the higher-level work is assumed by one employee or those cases where multiple employees assume some portion of the higher-level responsibilities that would justify additional compensation. In the latter case, the aggregated total of temporary pay awarded to multiple employees may not exceed five (5) percent.

If the Director in their absence takes the substitute calls, coordinates substitute coverage, and performs the planning duties, no teacher will receive a stipend. The stipend amount is to be added to the teacher’s regular pay.

Part-time employees used to replace a full-time employee on a temporary basis shall not receive over-time pay, but shall get the rate of pay for the higher classification for the hours so worked. When a nine (9) month employee works additional time during the summer in a similar position as they are employed during the school year, that employee will be paid their contracted hourly rate for any hours worked during the summer.
