Unplanned Leave. (a) (i) In the event that an employee requires an unplanned leave it is the responsibility of the employee to both advise their Supervisor and to make up for any missed class and lost time that was missed. When making up the class(es) is a practical impossibility, an alternate arrangement, approved by the Supervisor, will be made. An unplanned leave is without loss of pay, subject to Articles 18.01 (b), (c), (d) and (e). Unplanned leaves may include, but are not limited to; sickness leave; bereavement leave; court leave; jury leave; family responsibility leave; domestic violence leave, and any exigent circumstances preventing access to classrooms.
Unplanned Leave. When making up the class(es) is a practical impossibility, an alternate arrangement, approved by the Xxxx, xxxx be made. An unplanned leave is without loss of pay. Unplanned leaves may include, but are not limited to, sickness leave, bereavement leave, court leave, jury leave, as set out earlier in this Article and any exigent circumstances preventing access to classrooms.
Unplanned Leave. Unplanned leave requests will be submitted as soon as the need for leave is known. The supervisor will respond within three (3) working days from the date of the request, or as much notice that was provided to the supervisor, allowing time for the supervisor to make a decision. Unplanned leave will be on a first come, first served basis.

(i) In the event of a death of a member of an employee’s immediate family the employee is entitled to bereavement leave up to a maximum of 1 calendar week provided the employee promptly contacts their Supervisor to make arrangements to make up the missed class(es) and lost time. When making up the class(es) is a practical impossibility, an alternate arrangement, approved by the Supervisor, will be made. Such leave will result in no loss of pay. Please see Article 3 for the definition of "immediate family".
(ii) If bereavement leave is required in the event of the death of a person significant to the employee and not specifically named in Article 18.01(b)(i), or additional leave is required in circumstances covered by Article 18.01(b)(i), it may be granted up to a maximum of 2 consecutive business days provided the employee promptly contacts their Supervisor to make arrangements to make up the missed class(es) and lost time. When making up the class(es) is a practical impossibility, an alternate arrangement, approved by the Supervisor, will be made. Such additional bereavement leave will result in no loss of pay. Such request will not be unreasonably denied.
Unplanned Leave. 20.01 If an Employee refuses a work opportunity because of accident, bereavement, family emergency as set out in Section 50 of the Employment Standards Act, 2000, illness, jury duty or Union business, the Employer will record such reason and will not count such refusal within the scope of Article
Unplanned Leave. Twice a year (by June and December) management will ask employees to advise their supervisor if they are seeking a workload adjustment for any other forms of leave taken by the employee, to be addressed in accordance with sub-clause 30.60 and 30.61.

When making up the class(es) is a practical impossibility, an alternate arrangement, approved by the supervisor, will be made. An unplanned leave is without loss of pay. Unplanned leaves may include, but are not limited to, sickness leave, bereavement leave, court leave, jury leave, family responsibility leave as set out below and any exigent circumstances preventing access to classrooms.
(i) In the event of a death of a member of an employee’s immediate family an employee may use unplanned leave to a maximum of one calendar week. Immediate family shall mean spouse, son, daughter, mother, father, sister, brother, mother-in-law, father-in-law, sister-in-law, brother-in- law, grandmother and grandfather.
(ii) If unplanned leave is required in the event of the death of a person significant to the employee and not specifically named in 17.01(b)(i), or additional unplanned leave is required in circumstances covered by 17.01(b)(i), it may be granted up to a maximum of two (2) consecutive working days by arrangement with the employee’s supervisor. Such request will not be unreasonably denied.
Unplanned Leave. 5.1 When an employee experiences a situation in which unplanned time off from work (such as an illness) is required, they will be permitted to use their accrued Paid Time Off.
5.2 In case of prolonged illness, or where time without pay may be needed, the employee should contact Human Resources to apply for a leave of absence per the Leave of Absence Policy in the Employee Handbook.
5.3 Unplanned time off may be granted if member(s) of an EMPLOYEE'S immediate family as defined in Article 2.7 or as required by Minnesota Law are ill and require the EMPLOYEE'S presence, within the limits of the accumulation.
5.4 EMPLOYEES may be required to furnish a return to work form from a licensed medical professional for any absence due to illness or injury after five (5) consecutive working days, or for absences which are patterned, which shall specify the illness or other disorder, and that it is disabling in order for time off to be considered approved time off.
5.5 All EMPLOYEES must notify their immediate supervisor as soon as possible, but not later than 90 minutes prior to their normal scheduled starting hour of the working day of a request for unplanned time off. Failure to do so may result in the loss of pay for said period.
5.6 In the employment of new staff members, the passing of a satisfactory physical exam may be required. Periodic health examinations may also be requested at the expense of the EMPLOYER, using a licensed medical professional to be selected by the EMPLOYER.
Unplanned Leave. If a Casual Cleaner refuses a work opportunity because of accident, bereavement, family emergency as set out in Section 50 of the Employment Standards Act, 2000, illness, jury duty or Union business, the Employer will record such reason and will not count such refusal within the scope of Article 29.01(g). The Employer has the right to require Casual Cleaners to provide documentation to verify any such absence as it deems appropriate.
Unplanned Leave. When needs arise and the employee requests annual leave, employees must contact their supervisor or designee to request the leave. During operational hours of the Agency, there shall always be someone available who is authorized to receive and act on such a request.
