SAFE AND HEALTHY WORKPLACE. 6.1 The Employer will maintain a safe and healthy work environment.
6.2 The Employer agrees to make reasonable and proper provisions for the maintenance of appropriate standards of health and safety in the workplace, to promptly review unsafe conditions brought to its attention, and to correct them as necessary. The employees acknowledge their responsibility to observe safety policies and procedures established by the Employer or mandated by state or federal laws or regulations related to the employee’s job or work area. The Employer acknowledges its responsibilities to appropriately train all employees regarding the Employer’s safety policies, procedures and state and federal laws and regulations.
6.3 The Employer and the Union agree that employees have the right to give input into the Employer’s safety program. In the event an employee believes an unsafe working condition exists, they will bring the situation to the attention of their supervisor. If, after bringing the situation to the supervisor’s attention, the employee believes the problem still exists, the employee may report the condition to the Manager of Clinical Quality Improvement.
SAFE AND HEALTHY WORKPLACE. The Employer, the Union, and the individual Employee shall cooperate in encouraging the maintenance of a safe and healthy work place. The Employer shall comply with all Federal, State and local laws, including recently adopted OSHA pathogen standards. The Union shall agree to cooperate in encouraging such rules as are necessary to comply with such laws.
SAFE AND HEALTHY WORKPLACE. 1. The District and Federation agree to the objective of a workplace that is free from abusive conduct, harassment, violence, or the threat of violence. The District shall endeavor to maintain safe and healthy working conditions in accordance with established Board policy, OSHA, IDEA, Federal and State regulations. An employee shall have the right to refuse to expose themselves to immediate danger created by an unsafe working condition when such danger threatens substantial bodily harm. When appropriate, PPS will work with the employee to develop (or review) and implement a safety and/or behavior support plan for the student. Safety and behavioral support plans will be reviewed for fidelity of implementation prior to any location changes for the student or employee. The employee shall give notice of the condition to their supervisor and shall be subject to assignment to another location or duty while the condition is being investigated and/or corrected.
2. The District shall comply with all state and federal OSHA requirements to post notice when non-routine cleaners, paints, sealants and other chemicals are to be used at the worksite and shall take all reasonable steps, in good faith, to post such notices as required by state and federal OSHA. This will include required postings about injury reporting and safety committees in the building.
3. The District shall assure that there are emergency protocols at all worksites, including non- district worksites where PFSP employees work. These protocols shall include procedures for supporting employees who experience Physical Attack/Harm and/or Threat/Causing Fear of Harm.

SAFE AND HEALTHY WORKPLACE. Section 11.1. The District will continue to make reasonable provisions for the maintenance of safe working conditions and health protection for all employees, including those covered by Local 73. The Union will cooperate towards this end and will encourage all employees to work in a safe manner. It will be the responsibility of both employees and supervisors to report unsafe and unhealthy work conditions. Employees shall comply with safety work rules and regulations and supervisors and employees shall report accidents promptly to their supervisors and to the Medical Department. Supervisors shall assist employees in seeking medical attention and shall complete accident reports within twenty-four (24) hours of the incident. The District will train each employee in the proper use of tools, equipment and machinery. Each employee has the responsibility for following the correct safety procedures at all times and for informing his supervisor if further training will be helpful. The District will issue the appropriate safety equipment for each job; this includes proper physical equipment and lighting. The District will instruct employees on the use of safety equipment. Employees are required to wear the prescribed safety equipment at all times, where such equipment is required. The District will impose sanctions on any employee who does not wear the safety equipment or on the supervisor who does not follow the procedures herein. These sanctions may include one of the following: oral reprimand, written reprimand, suspension or discharge.
A. The District agrees that all facilities will be maintained in accordance with all governmental codes and regulations regarding lead and asbestos building components and materials. To that end, effective upon ratification and to be completed before the expiration of this Agreement, the District shall begin an inspection regime to ascertain that all facilities are within compliance of this Article. The District agrees to provide information regarding the inspection process upon request. In addition, the District agrees to respond to complaints of indoor pest infestations (rodents, roaches and so on) as soon as practicable after receiving a complaint through the proper channels, or within seventy-two (72) hours where there is a significant health and safety threat (for example a wasp nest at a building entrance or rodent infestation in a fieldhouse).

2. The Employer shall provide safety and health training for all Employees on work time. Employees shall receive annually an updated training session. The Union Health and Safety Department will work with the Employer on course content and determining the appropriate number of hours of training.
3. A Safety and Health Committee composed of an equal number of Union and the Employer representatives shall be formed to implement this Article. The Safety and Health Committee shall cooperate to investigate, identify and remove conditions which are hazardous to an Employee’s safety and health. Depending on the size of the institution the Union representatives will vary from three (3) to six (6). Said committee may meet monthly. It is agreed that the Union’s safety and health committee, and the Union representatives to the joint committee, act hereunder exclusively in an advisory capacity and that the Union, Union safety and health committees, and their officers, Employees and agents shall not be liable for any work-connected injuries, disabilities or disease which may be incurred by Employees.
4. Employee members of the Union-Management Occupational Safety and Health Committee will be paid at their regular rate of pay for conducting inspections, or performing any other function designated by the Safety and Health Committee. Furthermore, an Employee who accompanies a Federal, State or local occupational safety and health inspector on an inspection tour will be paid at his/her regular rate of pay for this time.
5. In the event that any Employee shall be exposed to any communicable disease, the Employer agrees to promptly review proper procedures to be followed by Employees exposed to such commu nicable diseases.
6. Where an Employee comes in contact with blood and other body fluids as a result of his/her job duties, the Employer will provide Hepatitis B vaccine to the Employee at no cost to the Employee.
SAFE AND HEALTHY WORKPLACE. 4.01 The Employer and the Union recognize their joint obligation to: Provide and maintain a safe and healthy workplace that promotes employee personal safety and respect and dignity within the workplace; Support and promote an environment that is free of disruptive workplace conflict, significant incidents and disrespectful behaviour, and; Comply with all duties and responsibilities under the Occupational Health and Safety Act as may be amended from time to time.
SAFE AND HEALTHY WORKPLACE. Both parties in this agreement are committed to work 20 toward a safe and healthy workplace. Nurses and administration are obligated to create 21 an ethical environment and culture of civility and kindness, treating patients, colleagues, 22 co-workers, employees, students, and others with dignity and respect. 23 Similarly, nurses must be afforded the same level of respect and dignity. Violence is not 24 tolerated.
