Workday/Hours. The number of annual instructional minutes for each teacher will be approximately the same as the number of instructional minutes existing in the current contract for other Middle Schools.
Workday/Hours. Workday hours shall be established by the Employee’s immediate administrative supervisor. The scheduled hours of work shall consist of a regular starting time and regular ending time. Any revision of an Employee’s workday hours will require one (1) week notice prior to implementation of the revision.

The BOARD recognizes the principle of a standard continuous seven hour and 42-minute teacher workday, which may be altered due to emergencies, changes in State of Michigan or Federal requirements, multi-level teaching assignments, or other contractual obligations such as staff or collaborative meeting times (see Article XV, Section C). The exception to this standard workday is understood to be Niji-Iro, where the teacher workday will be 7 hours and 30 minutes. At the secondary level, no more than five (5) hours and 12 minutes will be required in the classroom supervision of students. This excludes passing time. At the elementary level, no more than six (6) hours in any workday and no more than 1573 minutes in any work week will be required in the classroom supervision of students. The normal weekly classroom teaching load for all teachers and specifically including media specialists, counselors, special education classroom teachers, and art, music, physical education, LMC, reading recovery, and learning disabilities teachers, excluding Niji-Iro and Young Fives teachers, shall include 1573 minutes for elementary and twenty-six (26) hours for secondary of teaching or supervised study or equivalent functions in specialized roles and five (5) periods for conferences, preparation of instructional materials and similar instruction-related activities. It is understood that Niji-Iro and Young Fives teachers will continue with the minutes required each week for their individualized programs of instruction. In the secondary schools, the twenty-six (26) teaching and supervised study hours would normally be divided into five (5) approximately equal periods per day. In addition to the above, teachers may be expected to spend some time in conferring with parents and/or students, collaborating with colleagues, supervising bus duty, homerooms, halls, and similar responsibilities. These additions may be either before or after the student day, but shall be within the teacher's workday. The District will seek to fill bus duty needs with staff outside the bargaining unit. If the District is unable to fill such needs in this manner, the District will seek volunteers from among teachers who will be paid at the rate established in Appendix B (in 15-minute increments). (b) Where two (2) or more employees are working the same number of hours per week, the opportunity shall be first offered to the employee with the longest continuous employment in that Post Office save that an employee who was formerly full-time and whose hours were reduced in accordance with Clause 12.05(a)(i) shall have priority. (i) In the application of this Clause, it is understood that a Part-Time Assistant shall be granted an opportunity to work extra hours provided that the extra hours do not conflict with her regular schedule, and provided she does not work more than eight (8) hours per day, or forty (40) hours per week. (ii) Subject to Clause 20.13(c)(i) the Part-Time Assistant who is granted the first opportunity to work extra hours should, while the opportunity lasts, end up working a total number of hours that is not less than the total number of hours worked by the Part-Time Assistant who accepts the second opportunity, and so on for each subsequent opportunity granted. (d) Where all the extra hours to be worked cannot be covered by application of the principle expressed in (a), employees may be assigned to work the extra hours that cannot be covered, and/or those hours may be covered by other means. (e) Application of this Clause entails no obligation on the part of the Corporation for equal distribution of extra hours.

  • Ordinary Hours (a) The ordinary hours of work of full-time Employees shall be 36 hours per week and may be worked in accordance with this clause. (b) The ordinary hours of part-time and casual Employees will be in accordance with clauses 5.3 and 5.4.
