Recognition of Previous Experience. (a) The Employer will recognize recent related RN experience on the basis of one (1) annual increment for each one (1) year of service up to the maximum of the grid. Part-time service shall be recognized on the basis of fifteen hundred (1500) hours paid in previous employment equals one (1) year of service. It shall be the responsibility of a newly hired employee to make a claim of recent and related experience within the probationary period in order to be considered for a salary increment. If she/he fails to make a claim in the specified time period or fails to provide reasonable proof of recent related experience, she/he shall not be entitled to recognition.

Recognition of Previous Experience. When a Nurse has produced proof or evidence of his/her previous satisfactory recent nursing experience, placement on the salary scale in Appendix "A" shall be in accordance with the following provisions. Recognition of previous experience will only be deemed as satisfactory and recent where the Nurse has not been away from active nursing for more five (5) years. One year of satisfactory recent nursing experience for the purpose of initial placement of a Nurse on the salary scale shall be equivalent to 1950 regular hours paid. (a) A Nurse with less than one (1) year of satisfactory recent nursing experience shall be placed at the start rate of the salary scale of Appendix "A". (b) A Nurse with a minimum of one (1) year of satisfactory recent nursing experience shall be placed at the one (1) year rate of the salary scale of Appendix "A". (c) A Nurse with a minimum of two (2) years of satisfactory recent nursing experience shall be placed at the two (2) year rate of the salary scale of Appendix "A". (d) A Nurse with a minimum of three (3) years of satisfactory recent nursing experience shall be placed at the three (3) year rate of the salary scale of Appendix "A". (e) A Nurse with a minimum of four (4) years of satisfactory recent nursing experience shall be placed at the four (4) year rate of the salary scale of Appendix "A". (f) A Nurse with a minimum of five (5) years or more of satisfactory recent nursing experience shall be placed at the five (5) year rate of the salary scale of Appendix "A". (g) A Registered Nurse with twenty-five (25) years or more of satisfactory recent nursing experience shall be placed at the twenty-five (25) year rate of the salary scale of Appendix “A”.
Recognition of Previous Experience. 27.01 When an Employee has experience satisfactory to the Employer, the Employee’s starting salary shall be adjusted as follows: (a) Experience prior to a five (5) year lapse will not be recognized. (b) All experience satisfactory to the Employer shall be recognized on a one-for-one basis, up to the top increment in the salary scale. (c) If a Registered Nurse or Registered Psychiatric Nurse has completed a nursing refresher course within the past 12 months, the Employer will recognize experience that is more than five (5) years old. 27.02 Additional time worked and not credited for purposes of initial placement on the salary scale, shall be applied towards the calculation of the next increment.

Notwithstanding the above, the Employer reserves the right to exceed the above guidelines where it is deemed necessary. Where previous experience has been obtained through recent service in other than full-time employment, recognition of such previous experience will be based on the number of hours paid. One (1) year experience will be recognized for each full year of recent service, according to the full-time hours for that classification as defined in Article 15. An Employee promoted to a higher classification in accordance with Article 21.10 will have their salary determined in accordance with the above provision or article 21.10, whichever is greater.

Recognition of Previous Experience. (a) Upon successful completion of the Employee's probationary period, the Employer will recognize retroactively to date of hire prior recent and directly related clinical experience for Employees on the basis of one (1) annual service increment level for each year of prior experience. In the case of prior part-time or casual experience the Employee's prior recent and directly related clinical experience shall be calculated on the basis of 1725 hours worked equals one (1) year of full-time service. Any claim for recognition of such experience must be made in writing by the Employee at the time of hiring or prior to completion of his probationary period. The Employee shall co-operate with the Employer by providing verification of previous experience so that his recent and directly related clinical experience may be determined and evaluated during the probationary period. If a period of more than two (2) years has elapsed since the Employee has occupied a full-time or regular part-time position, then the number of increments to be recognized and paid as provided above, if any, shall be at the discretion of the Employer.
