ARTICLE BEREAVEMENT. When death occurs in a seniority employee's immediate family current spouse, parent. child, brother, sister. mother-in-law, father-in-law. grandparent, grandchild. or legal guardian of the employee). the employee. on request, will be excused for four (4) consecutive working days commencing on the first working day after the date of death or commencing with the date of receipt of news of death by the employee. An employee will be excused for two (2) working days on the first working day after the date of death or the date of receipt of news of death by the employee. in the event of the death of the employee's sister-in-law or brother-in-law. In any event, the employee shall not be entitled to receive any pay hereunder for any day upon which would not otherwise have been scheduled to work for the Company except that if the bereavement occurred during an employee's scheduled vacation or leave of absence, the employee may extend the vacation or leave of absence by the number of qualified days. Payment will be based upon the hourly day rate exclusive of premiums. If additional time is required for travel outside the province. an unpaid leave of up to two weeks duration will be granted to the employee requesting the leave.
ARTICLE BEREAVEMENT. In the case of death in the of a full-time or regular part-time employee covered by this Agreement, such employee will protected against loss of regular pay for scheduled work up to a maximum of three (3) consecutive days inclusive of the day of the funeral. "Immediate family" means parent or step-parent, grandchildren, spouse (including same sex spouse), sister, brother, son or daughter, step-children, father-in-law, mother- in-law, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, brother-in-law, sister-in- law, father and mother of common-law spouse. In the case of death of a spouse and/or children, the employee will be protected against loss of regular pay for scheduled work up to a maximum of five (5)consecutive days inclusive of the day of the funeral. The Hospital will consider any reasonable requests for unpaid leaves of absence to grieve the loss of relatives and personal friends not covered by the preceding clause. The Employer, at its discretion, may grant paid bereavement leave in such circumstances. Where an employee's scheduled vacation is interrupted due to a bereavement, the employee shall be entitled to bereavement leave in accordance with Article The portion of the employee's vacation which is deemed to be bereavement leave under the above provisions will not be counted against the employee's vacation credits.
ARTICLE BEREAVEMENT. In the event of the death of a spouse or child the bereaved employee will be allowed time off to a maximum of five (5) working days without loss of pay. In the event of a death in the immediate family of an employee, the bereaved employee will be allowed time off to a maximum of four (4) working days without loss of pay. Employees who travel outside of North America for a funeral of a relative of a type named above will be allowed to schedule available vacation with the bereavement leave, providing that the Company is able to maintain an adequate qualified work force at all times. The Company will consider a request for leave of absence which coincides with the above leave. The employee will be required to provide satisfactory proof of death.
ARTICLE BEREAVEMENT. In the case of bereavement in the immediate family, leave with pay shall be granted to regular employees to a maximum of five working days. Any additional leave is without pay or as a charge to vacation leave. family is defined as an employee's father, mother, spouse, partner, brother, sister, son, daughter, common-law child, or xxxx, grandparent, grandchild, father-in-law, mother-in- law, sister-in-law, brother-in-law and any other relative permanently residing in the employee's household or with whom the employee permanently resides. One day's leave with pay will be allowed to attend the funeral of other friends or relations and where employees have been asked to be a pallbearer they shall, at the discretion of their immediate supervisor, be allowed sufficient time off from their duties to meet those obligations. If employees are on vacation leave at the time of the bereavement, they should, upon their return to duty, present their supervisor with sufficient proof of bereavement and receive a day or days off to compensate for time lost during their vacation. Auxiliary employees will be granted leave without pay consistent with the provisions in this Article. In the event of the death of an husband, wife, child, parents, brother or sister, mother or father- in-law or grandchild, an employee who has completed the probationary period shall receive up to three (3) consecutive days leave of absence in order to attend the funeral and will be paid for time lost up to a maximum of eight hours per day for each regularly scheduled work that comes within such three day period. One of the three days must be the day of the funeral. A full time employee who has completed his probationary period shall be entitled to one day leave of absence to attend the funeral of a grandparent of the employee at no loss of regular scheduled earnings. It is also agreed that in the case of a death in the family defined in Article outside of Canada, where the employee does not attend the funeral, the Company shall grant a one (1) day leave of absence without loss of pay. Where the employee does attend the funeral, the Company will grant a leave of absence of up to three (3) days, without pay, in addition to the employee's entitlement pursuant to Article

Common Law spouse as defined by the Income Tax Act will be deemed to be included under Article provided the employee has notified the Company in writing for at least a period of one (1) year of the common law relationship. Two (2) working days will be allowed for Brother-in-law, and Grandparents if the employee cannot attend the funeral. In the event of the death of a grandchild the bereaved employee will be allowed time off to a maximum of one (1) day to attend the funeral.
ARTICLE BEREAVEMENT. Such leave shall be without loss of pay from regular earnings. Immediate family shall mean spouse, spousal equivalent, child, stepson, step- daughter, parent, stepfather, sibling, stepsister, stepbrother, mother-in-law, father-in-law, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, grandparentor grandchild. ARTICLE BEREAVEMENT. When death occurs to a member of an employee's immediate family, that is an employee's father, mother, wife, husband, mother-in-law, father-in-law, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, children, brother, sister, grand-parents, the employee will be granted leave and shall be paid for eight hours at his regular straight time rate for time lost up to a maximum of three days. An employee will be granted an extra two days leave without pay in the event of the death of his/her spouse or children.
