Christmas and New Year’s Schedule. An employee shall have Christmas or New Year's Day off, save and except in cases of an emergency when it is not possible. Time off at Christmas shall include Christmas Eve, afternoon shift, and Christmas Day. Time off at New Year's shall include New Year's Eve, afternoon shift, and New Year's Day. An employee who qualifies to receive pay for any holiday or a lieu day will not be entitled, in event of illness, to receive sick leave benefits in addition to the holiday pay or a lieu day in respect of the same day.
Christmas and New Year’s Schedule. (a) The usual scheduling requirements of Article 18 and the limitations on the use of agency staff will be waived from December 15th to January 15th to accommodate this special arrangement for time off during the holiday season. (b) Except in a case of emergency or extraordinary circumstances beyond the control of the employer, the employer will provide full-time and part-time staff with four (4) consecutive days off at Christmas or New Year’s and will endeavour to schedule 5 days off except for: (i) areas which normally are not scheduled to work on weekends or paid holidays; (ii) staff who are already receiving an accommodated regular work schedule. (c) Time off at Christmas will include December 24th, 25th, and 26th (this also includes the overnight shift that comes into work on December 26th). Time off at New Year’s will include December 31st and January 1st (this also includes the overnight shift that come into work on January 1st) unless otherwise mutually agreed. (d) Time worked at Christmas will include December 24th, 25th, and 26th (this also includes the overnight shift that comes into work on December 26th) and at New Year’s will include December 31st and January 1st (this also includes the overnight shift that come into work on January 1st) unless otherwise mutually agreed. (e) In addition to the time scheduled off as per 18.08(b) above, requested vacation may be granted to full time staff between Christmas and New Year’s subject to operational requirements. Preference will be given to staff who did not take vacation during the Christmas and New Year’s period in the previous 2 years. (f) Staff must provide their preference for either Christmas or New Year’s Schedule to the Clinical Manager in writing, by September 1st. When a scheduling conflict arises amongst staff requesting the same time off, priority will be given to staff whose requested time off was not granted in the previous year. When a conflict still exists the deciding factor will be seniority. (g) The employer will endeavour to post a schedule indicating Christmas and New Year’s time off as well as regularly scheduled days off and scheduled shifts to be worked by November 1st, but will have the schedule posted by November 15th at the latest. (h) Staff who have not indicated their preferences by the stated deadline in (f) above will have their time off assigned at the discretion of the Employer.
Christmas and New Year’s ScheduleAn employee shall be scheduled off duty on either Christmas Day and Boxing Day or New Year's Eve and New Years' Day. If this is not possible, an employee shall be paid at two and one half times her regular hourly rate for all hours worked on New Years' Day and up to and including four (4) hours worked on New Year's Eve.
Christmas and New Year’s Schedule. The Christmas and New Year’s schedule shall provide for three (3) days off at either Christmas or New Year’s on an alternating basis unless mutually agreed otherwise. Where requested by an employee to do so, the Employer may change the schedule within the pay period and it will not count as a shift change to accommodate the request. It is understood that the three (3) days may be composed of unpaid time off, unscheduled days off or the Christmas, Boxing Day or the New Year’s Day statutory holiday if the employee qualified for it, or any combination thereof. In order to ensure we can give staff their three (3) days off at either Christmas or New Year’s, no vacation time will be granted to any employee during the period of December 15th to January 15th in any year. It is understood that the employee(s) with the most seniority shall be granted the two (2) holidays off, where possible, before the least senior employee in the classification, should the employee so wish.
Christmas and New Year’s ScheduleAll staff will work on a rotating basis Christmas or New Years. The Union will be given notice as per Article 18.04. In the event the master rotation needs to change in order to meet the requirement of employees under this article: Christmas will consist of: Christmas Eve 3:00 p.m. to Boxing Day 2:59 p.m. New Years will consist of: New Years Eve 3:00 pm. To January 2nd, 6:59 a.m.

  • HOLIDAY COMPENSATION FOR TIME WORKED Employees required by their respective appointing officers to work on any of the above specified or substitute holidays, excepting Fridays observed as holidays in lieu of holidays falling on Saturday, shall be paid extra compensation of one additional day's pay at time- and-one-half the usual rate in the amount of 12 hours pay for 8 hours worked or a proportionate amount for less than 8 hours worked provided, however, that at the employee's request and with the approval of the appointing officer, an employee may be granted compensatory time off in lieu of paid overtime as provided for elsewhere in this contract. 127. Executive, administrative and professional employees designated in the Annual Salary Ordinance with the "Z" symbol shall not receive extra compensation for holiday work but may be granted time off equivalent to the time worked at the rate of-one-and-one-half times for work on the holiday.

  • List of Holidays The Employer recognizes the following paid holidays: New Year’s Day Labour Day Family Day Thanksgiving Day Good Friday Christmas Day Easter Monday Boxing Day Victoria Day Civic Holiday (deferred to Christmas Shutdown) Canada Day Plus, any other day(s) declared or proclaimed as a Statutory Holiday by the Federal or Provincial Government. The Employer shall post a list no later than December 15th of each year stating on which day the Civic Holiday and any other deferred holiday will be observed.

  • Christmas Day Melbourne Cup Day (or alternative days in regional areas);

  • Four on, Two off Schedule In an effort to maximize full-time employment opportunities, the local parties may agree to a “four on, two off” innovative schedule, subject to the following principles: (a) The introduction of such schedules and trial periods, if any, shall be determined by the local parties. Each Home must have the majority agreement of the full-time and part- time employees who vote on the issue to agree on a trial period of up to six months. Once the trial period is complete, each Home must have a minimum of 66⅔% agreement of the full-time and part-time employees who vote on the issue to continue with the new schedule on a permanent basis. (b) The implementation of such schedules shall be established only by mutual agreement of the Employer and the Union. (c) Notwithstanding the definition for full-time employee under Article 2.02, employees who participate in this schedule will normally be scheduled for thirty-five (35) hours per week on average and will be considered a full- time employee for all purposes of the collective agreement. i) Notwithstanding Article 16.01, for the purposes of bi-weekly overtime, the normal weekly full-time hours shall remain at seventy-five (75) hours per bi-weekly average over a six (6) week period. In each bi-weekly pay period the employee will be paid for all hours worked. At the end of the six (6) week period, entitlement for bi-weekly overtime will be calculated and paid. ii) Notwithstanding Article 16.01, for the purposes of daily overtime, the normal daily hours shall remain at seven and a half (7.5) hours per day. In each bi-weekly pay period the employee will be paid for all hours worked including daily overtime, if any. (e) For the purposes of vacation entitlement, the current collective agreement provisions shall apply using thirty-five (35) hours per week. (f) Each facility/unit must have eighty percent (80%) agreement of the full- time and part-time employees who work in the facility/unit. (g) The Four on, Two off schedule, may be discontinued by either party upon receipt of twelve (12) weeks’ notice to the other in writing of its desire to terminate. A meeting shall be held within two (2) weeks of receipt of such notice to discuss the reasons for the discontinuation. The Four on, Two off schedule, may be discontinued by the Union in any facility/unit when sixty percent (60%) of the employees in the facility/unit so indicate by secret ballot to the Union.

  • Work on Holidays An employee who is required to work, or works with prior approval, any part of a holiday shall receive holiday compensatory time for up to eight (8) hours, on an hour for hour basis, for the actual non-overtime hours worked in addition to their regular rate of pay. An employee who works overtime on a holiday shall be compensated in accordance with all applicable pay and overtime provisions. An employee must use holiday compensatory time within one (1) year after having accrued that time.

  • Holiday Falling on a Scheduled Workday An Employee who works on a designated holiday which is a scheduled workday shall be compensated at the rate of double time for hours worked, plus a day off in lieu of the holiday; except for Christmas and New Year's when the compensation shall be at the rate of double time and one-half (2½) for hours worked, plus a day off subject to this Agreement.

  • Saturdays, Sundays, Holidays, etc If the last or appointed day for the taking of any action or the expiration of any right required or granted herein shall not be a Business Day, then such action may be taken or such right may be exercised on the next succeeding Business Day.
