Only the Superinten- dent can make such a request of teachers. All requests will be in writing. In these instances the District will reimburse to the teacher the full cost of tuition and books. At least a C must be earned in the course. Receipts must be present to verify enrollment and book purchases.

Coursework Reimbursement. Building principals may recommend to the superintendent that teachers take additional coursework to enhance the school program. All coursework and coursework reimbursements will be mutually agreed upon by teacher, building principal, and superintendent. In these instances the district will reimburse to the teacher the full cost of tuition and books. A grade of at least a “C” must be earned in the course. Receipts must be presented to verify enrollment and book purchases.
Coursework Reimbursement. Based upon the availability of funds, the Board shall reimburse bargaining unit members (employees) expenses incurred in taking coursework or continuing education units required for recertification or directly related to the duties and responsibilities of their individual position descriptions, not to exceed Fifteen Hundred Dollars ($1,500) per qualifying individual per program year. Employees must receive prior written approval from the Superintendent (see form in Appendix E), in accordance with this contractual language, in order to be eligible for reimbursement. Employees are responsible for all costs incurred if prior approval is not obtained. Requests for approval must include the cost of the coursework, and a course description in order to ensure that the course directly relates to the duties and responsibilities of the employeescurrent position. Costs for registration, books, lab fees, lodging, meals and/or transportation shall not be reimbursable. Reimbursements will be approved contingent upon receipt of proof of completion of the course with a grade of at least 2.0 (C) or passing in a pass/fail course. For the purposes of coursework reimbursement, the program year would begin June 1 and end May 31. Tuition reimbursement will be reduced if the staff member receives any other financial aid that does not have to be repaid (i.e., GI bill, scholarships, and grants). The staff member is responsible for notifying the Board if he/she receives any other financial aid. Failure to notify the Board may result in loss of tuition reimbursement eligibility and re-payment of tuition reimbursement funds already paid to the staff member. Approved coursework shall be completed on the employee’s own time (i.e., nights, weekends, personal or vacation time). Tuition reimbursement is considered taxable under the IRS guidelines and will be reimbursed through the employee’s regular payroll check. By virtue of accepting reimbursement, an employee agrees to remain employed by the Board for a period of at least one (1) year after reimbursement. Reimbursement shall not occur if, prior to the Superintendent’s approval, the applicant requesting this is in process to terminate employment for any reason, such as, but not limited to resignation, retirement or disciplinary action. Coursework Reimbursement. Xxxxxxx is entitled to reimbursement, for coursework approved by the Superintendent of Schools. Such reimbursement will be limited to the current S.U.N.Y. Albany graduate (non-MBA) program rate. Reimbursement shall be paid upon the successful completion of the course as verified through semester grade reports. In the event Xxxxxxx should separate from service with Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake Central School District earlier than three (3) years after receiving reimbursement from the district he shall be required to pay the district an amount equal to the amount of such reimbursement.
Coursework Reimbursement. A Coursework Reimbursement Program will be made available to all PSMs. Tuition is defined as cost per credit hour. The school district will set aside twenty-two thousand five hundred dollars ($22,500) to fund the Coursework Reimbursement Program with a maximum of twelve (12) semester hours per year per PSM. Procedure: A. Applications must be pre-approved by the Superintendent or designee before the first- class session is held. The Superintendent's approval is final. B. Transcripts must be submitted indicating successful completion with a minimum grade of "B-" for each class or a pass in a pass/fail course. C. The PSM must be currently employed by Xxxxxxxxx Exempted Village School District at the time of reimbursement. D. The amount in the coursework reimbursement program will be divided equally by the total approved graduate semester hours of all PSM. E. Coursework reimbursement will be granted from graduate courses in educational methods, areas of instruction, or curriculum, or educationally related fields, or as approved by the CPDC certified/licensed renewal or upgrade. F. Reimbursement will not exceed actual tuition expenses of the PSM. G. Part-time PSMs will be reimbursed at a rate of fifty percent (50%) of the full-time PSM’s rate. Timelines: 1. Reimbursement year is from September 1st through August 31st. 2. An official transcript is due by October 15th following the reimbursement year. Receipts accompanied by a course description of other document indicating required book/material supplies will be due November 15th following the reimbursement year. 3. Reimbursement for tuition will be paid by the second Friday in December. Reimbursement for book/material expenses as required by the course will be paid by the second Friday in January. 4. Reimbursement will be paid on the number of semester hours successfully completed.

The CCBDD will reimburse staff members for tuition fees, training materials and books for approved courses and/or training to a maximum of $4,000 per contract year, including distance-learning courses per Section D, below. There will be a limit of $40,000 for the entire bargaining unit for each contract year. B. Courses, including graduate courses, will be approved if they are job-related. C. The CCBDD will reimburse at the rate of 100% of the costs to the limit per Section A, above, for approved coursework taken at colleges or universities under the control/supervision of the North Central Association of Colleges & Schools, except any on-line coursework. Hybrid coursework will be reimbursed at 100% to the appropriate limits. D. For coursework that is not offered in the traditional classroom format at local universities, approved on-line coursework will be reimbursed at the rate of 100% of the costs per Section A, above. For other approved on-line coursework, the CCBDD will reimburse at the rate of 50% of the costs to the limit of $1200 per contract year. E. Staff members are encouraged to submit coursework for pre-approval (Appendix I. Application for Educational Benefits – ACCESS Staff) with the Human Resources Department. If the staff member does not request and receive pre-approval, coursework reimbursement cannot be guaranteed. Requests for approval and reimbursement must be submitted within three months of course completion. F. The staff member must receive a letter grade of "B" or "pass" or documentation of completion in order to be reimbursed for any coursework.

Employees must submit an application on the Coursework Reimbursement form to the Human Resources Division. The application shall be submitted three weeks prior to the first class, if possible, but not later than five days following registration. Authorization for payment shall be made upon presentation to the Human Resources Specialist of the bottom portion of the Coursework Reimbursement form with original receipts and grade slips. Approval or rejection will be received in ten (10) days. D. The employee must receive a letter grade of "C" or better or Pass in P/F option in order to be reimbursed. E. Courses approved for coursework reimbursement do not necessarily receive approval for advanced pay column credit. However, advanced pay column credit will be consistently applied based on programmatic consideration on the value of the courses taken. F. Nurses may utilize Coursework Reimbursement moneys to pay for Certification Testing/Training.
