Department Chair Compensation. The rates and methods for compensation of all department chairs and other faculty leadership positions will be established by the college administrations depending upon the varying administrative workloads, institutional responsibilities, and complexities of assignment. Department chair compensation will be no less than two thousand dollars ($2,000) and no less than three (3) instructional workload hours reassigned time per academic year. Maximum compensation will be no more than five thousand dollars ($5,000) and no more than ten (10) instructional workload hours reassigned time per academic year. Maximum compensation for the summer will be no more than three (3) credit hours or less than one (1) credit hour equivalent salary, if administrative duties are assigned. The compensation rates paid for department chairs will be communicated to all department chairs on campus when contracts are issued.
Department Chair Compensation. Chairpersons will be compensated according to the number of full-time and part-time faculty in their department. Chairpersons who have a combined total of 1-19 full and part-time faculty will receive a 3 contact hour reduction in teaching load. Chairpersons who have a combined total of 20-39 full-time and part-time faculty will receive a 6 contact hour reduction in teaching load. Chairpersons who have a combined total of 40-49 full-time and part-time faculty will receive a one hour of overload in addition to a 6 contact hour reduction in teaching load. Chairpersons who have a combined total of 50-59 full-time and part-time faculty will receive two hours of overload in addition to a 6 contact hour reduction in teaching load. Chairpersons who have a combined total of 60 or more full-time and part-time faculty will receive three hours of overload in addition to a 6 contact hour reduction in teaching load. Additionally, Department Chairpersons shall receive an annual stipend equivalent to 1.333 credit hours of overload pay in recognition of their summer work responsibilities.
Department Chair Compensation. 1. Effective in the spring semester of 2012 and thereafter, subject to agreement between chair and appropriate xxxx and approval by the appropriate Vice President, chair duties will be compensated by stipend or reassignment or a combination thereof. If a chair accepts reassignment, he or she may not be assigned classes as overload while he or she serves as chair with reassignment. Chairs with reassignment may still accept large lecture OSH. Chairs with reassignment may, in exceptional circumstances, have a portion of a class compensated as overload as necessary to make load.
2. Compensation for department chairs will be based on OSH. Stipend compensation will be paid based upon the highest OSH rate from the Regular Term Hourly Schedule (Appendix A).
3. The amount of OSH to be provided for each department chair shall be based on an averaging formula, using data based upon the first census of the fall semester from the preceding year, and incorporating the four main components of chair duties, as described in Appendix G.

d. Activity directors will receive up to ten (10) extended contract days during the summer at mutually agreeable times with prior administrative approval.
e. Counseling department chairpersons and high school athletic directors will receive up to twenty (20) extended contract days for work in the summer for the days following the end of the school year and preceding the opening of the school year with prior administrative approval.
f. Media chairpersons will receive up to ten (10) extended contract days during the summer at mutually agreeable times with prior administrative approval. Media chairpersons responsible for the building textbook depository will receive three (3) extra extended contract days during the summer at mutually agreeable times.
g. Department Chairpersons will be assigned to a preparation period in addition to their regular contractual preparation period.

Department Chair Compensation. The intent of the Association and the District is to assure that Department Chairpersons shall be compensated annually for all faculty who serve in the department. For compensation purposes, department members shall be defined as the number of all full-time and associate faculty members who have served in the department as of April 15.
