Early Childhood Teachers. The provisions of this Agreement shall apply in relation to Teachers employed in a preschool or other early childhood service subject to the specific provisions of Attachment D - Particular Conditions of Teachers in Preschools and other Early Childhood Services.
Early Childhood Teachers. The early childhood teacher is responsible for the planning, preparation and delivery of programs to achieve specific child outcomes consistent with the National Quality Standard and the Learning and Development Framework. Level 1 teachers are new entrants to the teaching profession who have been prepared in their pre-service training to be competent teachers. The focus of a Level 1 teacher is on implementing an effective educational program that supports children’s learning and development. They utilise their knowledge of pedagogy, child development and curriculum, teaching, learning and assessment theories. Level 1 teachers also focus on the further development of their knowledge, skills and competences to refine their practice to become effective practitioners. They will actively seek support from colleagues to assist the development of their knowledge, skills and competencies. • Plan and deliver an early childhood education program which meets the needs of children and the group and is in accordance with the relevant frameworks. • Develop and maintain positive relationships with parents and encourage their participation in and contribution to their child’s education. • Provide meaningful information to parents about their child’s progress and ensure accurate records are maintained for each child. • Work positively with other staff and provide supervision and support, where required within the organisational structure. • Work collaboratively with colleagues, other members of the profession and others in the community who contribute to the child’s educational or developmental progress and wellbeing. • Identify the relevant local community linkages and resources and commence to form contact with these links. • Complete organisational and administrative duties as required. • Ensure the service’s policies and procedures are adhered to. • Have responsibility for fulfilling their legal responsibilities and accountability requirements. • Contribute appropriately to the effective management of the service including the service’s Quality Improvement Plan. • Actively seek support and advice from the Educational Leader, peers and other early childhood professionals. • Ensure a safe environment is maintained at all times. 30. NOTICE OF TERMINATION OF EMPLOYMENT
30.1 Employment shall be terminated:
30.1.1 without notice in the case of conduct by an employee which justifies instant dismissal including malingering, inefficiency or neglect of duty in which case wages and other entitlement shall accrue up to the time of dismissal only; or
30.1.2 by the employer or the employee giving four weeks’ notice or such other period of notice as may be agreed upon. Such notice shall be given in writing;
30.1.3 by the payment by the employer or the forfeiture by the employee of four weeks’ wages or such other amount of wages as may be agreed upon, provided that employment may be terminated by part of the period of notice specified and part payment in lieu thereof. In calculating any payment in lieu of notice the wages to be used and shall be those an employee would have received in respect of the ordinary time he/she would have worked during the period of notice had his/her employment not be terminated. Subject to financial obligations imposed on an employer by an act, if an employee fails to give notice the employer shall have the right to withhold monies due to the employee with a maximum amount equal to the ordinary time rate of pay for the period of notice;
30.1.4 In addition to the notice in 30.1.2 or 30.1.3 hereof, employees over 45 years of age with not less than two years continuous service shall be entitled to an additional week’s notice.
Early Childhood Teachers. The teacher duty-free lunch period shall not be less than forty (40) minutes per day or more than sixty (60) minutes in such day and shall be scheduled during student lunch periods, if applicable. Early childhood teachers shall be granted a minimum of five (5) forty (40) minutes per week of continuous, unscheduled and unassigned time for the purpose of individual planning. Early Childhood teachers may be assigned to a team. Teachers may be scheduled for a maximum of one team planning meeting per week. Each team shall meet for forty (40) minutes to address District and school priorities. Team planning will begin the second week of school and will conclude one week prior to the last week of school. Supervisors will be judicious about the scheduling of meetings during planning time. Every reasonable effort will be made to limit the number of IEP, 504, Intervention Team and RTI meetings for a given teacher to once a week. During District designated parent-teacher conference weeks, early childhood teachers shall provide a total of six (6) hours of parent teacher conferences times. Included in the six (6) hours shall be: one block of three (3) hours following regular school hours, two (2) hours following regular school hours, and an additional one (1) hour outside of regular school hours that is determined by the teacher. Evening conferences will end by 8 PM and teacher shall have a non- attendance day on the day designated for parent-teacher conferences. Within the first week of the school year, building Council representatives shall conduct a vote of building DEC members to determine the date of the three (3)-hour block to be used during the designated parent-teacher conference week. Teachers shall provide a schedule of the days and times of the non-three (3)-hour block.
