Elective Training. Elective training consists of those courses, curriculums, or certifications, which are job related but not mandated or required for the employee’s assigned position. Employees attend elective training for the purpose of personal enrichment or for advancement in the Fire Department. Leave from duty may not be granted to Department personnel for attendance at elective schools, unless otherwise approved by the Fire Chief in a specific instance. Personnel attending elective schools shall do so on their own time; however, tuition costs, registration fees will be provided by the City in accordance with provisions in the Employee Policy Manual and approved Municipal Budget.

Elective Training. Refers to training programs and educational opportunities that are not deemed “sanctioned” by the Fire Chief. Any employee who desires to attend an “elective” training program or educational opportunity will be solely responsible for ensuring that any hours said employee is scheduled to work during the program are covered if, and when, necessary. The employee may elect to use accrued holiday or vacation time to cover said hours. Employees attending elective training will not be paid for travel time and will not be reimbursed for any expenses incurred. The City acknowledges that many elective training programs require the Chief to complete a form verifying the employee’s position with the Fire Department. The Union agrees that if, and when, the Chief completes such a form, the Chief is not thereby converting said elective training into sanctioned training.

Elective Training. 2.11.3.1 If the Employee elects to undertake further study for higher certification or additional skills or qualifications the Employee may apply to the Company for reimbursement of any fees associated with such study on successful completion of the course. The Company undertakes to reasonably consider the request for reimbursement of such fees. When considering the request, the Company will take into account the requirements for the Employee's current position, future work and career development and progression with the Company as well as the Employee's work performance.

  • Employee’s Representations Employee represents and warrants that Employee is free to enter into this Agreement and to perform each of the terms and covenants in it.   • Principal Investigator The research will be under the direction of (“Principal Investigator”). If, for any reason, he/she is unable to continue to serve as Principal Investigator and a successor acceptable to both UHD and Sponsor is not available, this Agreement shall be terminated as provided in Section 7.
