EMPLOYMENT OF RETIREES. 1. Where an SSP vacancy exists which the Board may fill by hiring a non-teaching employee who is not already employed by the Board, the Board may consider and employ Retirees for a vacancy after Article XXIII, D has been followed upon the recommendation of the Superintendent. For purposes of this Article, a Retiree is an individual who has attained service retirement status with the School Employees Retirement System.
2. A Retiree shall be placed at step zero (0) in the appropriate classification column and thereafter may advance on the schedule on the same basis as other non- teaching employees.
3. A Retiree shall receive a one-year or two-year contract, which shall expire automatically at the end of the stated term. No notice of non-renewal is required. Continuation of the employment of a Retiree is through offering a new one-year or two-year contract recommendation of the Superintendent. The requirements of Article XXVII of the negotiated agreement shall not apply to Retiree contracts. A Retiree is not eligible for a continuing contract regardless of years of employment as a retiree with the Board. A Retiree is eligible for part-time work through the substitute pool only if no other bargaining unit member is interested in such offers.
4. For the purposes of Seniority and/or any reduction-in-force, an SSP retiree shall earn seniority with the District beginning with his/her employment as a non- teaching employee. For those former non-teaching employees employed by the District as a retiree, a new status as a retired non-teaching employee shall be deemed to be a break in service for purposes of seniority. There shall be no difference in the type of seniority between a retiree’s seniority and a regular employee’s seniority should the District effect a reduction-in-force, except that it is recognized that all retirees are employed on a one year or two year limited contract and shall be placed on a separate seniority list by classification area. For purposes of a RIF, continuing contract employees shall have seniority over regular limited contract employees and regular limited employees shall have seniority over any rehired retiree. RIF’d employee’s names shall be placed on a Recall List as set forth in Article XXV of the Agreement and RIF’d employees shall be recalled in the reverse order of layoffs. EMPLOYMENT OF RETIREES. 12.1 Where a teaching vacancy exists that the Board chooses to fill, the Board may consider and employ a retiree for such vacancy upon the recommendation of the Superintendent. For purposes of this Article a “retiree” is an individual who has attained service retirement status with Ohio’s State Teachers Retirement System (STRS) and is otherwise qualified by licensure/certification and background for public school teaching in Ohio.
EMPLOYMENT OF RETIREES. 1. A retiree is defined as a certificated staff member who has retired though State Teachers Retirement System and is receiving a monthly stipend from said retirement system.
2. A newly employed retiree shall be placed in his/her actual educational column at Step 5 of the current contract.
EMPLOYMENT OF RETIREES. 1. This Article governs the terms and conditions of employment of any superannuate or “other system Retirant” (as those terms are statutorily defines for purposes of Section 3307.35 of the Ohio Revised code) whom the Board may regularly employ in a position that falls within the bargaining unit identified in Article I, Section A of this Agreement.
a. For placement purposes on the teachers’ salary schedule, the employee will receive horizontal credit in accordance with the normal rules and will be vertically placed at Step 1 and will not be eligible to advance.
b. An employee employed under this Article will receive a one-year limited contract of employment (if after the start of the school year, such contract will be for the remainder of that school year). If subsequently reemployed, the employee will receive a new one-year limited contract. In no event will the employee qualify for a continuing contract or a multi-year contract.
c. Neither the evaluation procedures resulting from Article IV, Section B of this Agreement nor the procedures appearing in Section 3319.111 of the Ohio Revised Code shall apply to the employee. The Board may choose to evaluate the employee, but is not required to do so. Any limited contract received under Paragraph b. above will automatically non-renew at the end of the year without any notice thereof. The procedures and terms appearing in Article IV, Section H of this Agreement and in Section 3319.11 of the Ohio Revised Code, including the post-non-renewal procedures appearing in Section 3319.11(G), shall not apply to any such contract non- renewal.
d. Upon employment, the employee will be credited with zero (0) years of seniority and will not thereafter accrue seniority.
e. The employee is not eligible to participate in any insurance fringe benefits offered under Article V of this Agreement, except that the employee will be entitled to participate in benefits offered under Article V to the extent the STRS precludes the retiree from participating in STRS-provided insurance fringe benefits.
f. The employee will in no event qualify for leave of absence, for severance under Article V, Section C and will accumulate no more than fifteen (15) days of sick leave per year.
2. The provisions of this Agreement supersede and prevail over any inconsistent terms that may appear elsewhere in this Agreement or in any part of the Ohio Revised Code.
EMPLOYMENT OF RETIREES. Where a teaching vacancy exists which the Board may fill by hiring a properly certified teacher who is not already employed by the Board, the Board may consider and employ Retirees for any such vacancy upon the recommendation of the Superintendent. For purposes of this agreement, a Retiree is an individual who has attained service retirement status with the State Teachers Retirement System and is otherwise qualified by certification and background for public school teaching in Ohio. The Board is under no obligation to consider for employment any Retiree and the parties hereto explicitly agree that there is no expectation of continued employment or re-employment when a teacher retires from the Lake Local Schools. A Retiree shall be paid at the Bachelor’s degree Step 5 salary level regardless of training and years of service in any Ohio public or private school, and so long as employed by the Board shall not advance on the salary schedule based either on years of service or additional training. This section shall expressly supersede Chapter 3317 of the Ohio Revised Code.
EMPLOYMENT OF RETIREES.

Where a teaching vacancy exists which the Board may fill at its discretion by hiring a properly certified teacher who is not already employed by the Board, the Board may consider and employ Retirees for any such vacancy upon the recommendation of the Superintendent. For the purposes of this Article, “Retiree” is an individual who has attained service retirement status with the State Teachers Retirement System and is otherwise qualified by certification and background for public school teaching in Ohio.
EMPLOYMENT OF RETIREES. 12.01 A retiree is defined as a certificated staff member who has retired through a state or privately sponsored teachers' retirement system and is receiving a monthly stipend from said retirement system.
12.02 The Board retains the right to decide whether to hire a retiree and that decision will be made on a case by case basis.
12.03 A newly employed retiree shall initially be placed on Step 1 through 15 of Appendix A or at a step reflecting his/her previous service, whichever is less. Placement may exceed these service criteria if the length and value of prior service warrant such determination to meet the needs of the District. Retired employees currently rehired as of the execution of this contract will move on the salary schedule according to their present placement.
12.04 A newly employed retiree shall be placed in his/her actual education column on Appendix A.
EMPLOYMENT OF RETIREES. The Gallipolis City School Board of Education defines a retiree as a classified staff member who, while an employee of the District, retires from any state retirement system and the District receives notification from the state retirement system of the employee’s retirement. The notification from the retirement system shall constitute the employee being classified as a retiree. If the retiree desires to continue to work for the District, the retiree must submit a written request to the Superintendent. If approved by the Board, the retiree would then be classified as a retire rehire employee.
A. This Article specifically waives the contract sequences and other statutory rights for non-teaching employees under Chapter 3319 of the Ohio Revised Code.
1. All contracts with retire rehire employees shall be for up to one (1) year only and shall expire at the end of their term without Board action for nonrenewal and without any notice required.
2. Retire rehire employees will be laid off or reduced in force prior to any other regular full-time employee in the classification.
3. Retire rehire employees will earn sick leave under Article 9.
4. Retire rehire employees shall be eligible to participate in the District's health insurance program offered to employees.
5. Retire rehire employees are eligible for the insurance opt-out at fifty percent (50%) of the rate paid to non-retirees.
6. Retire rehire employees accumulate no seniority for the purposes of bidding on positions; except that bus drivers who remain continuously employed with the Gallipolis City Schools may keep their route as long as it is economically efficient for the Board.
7. Retire rehire employees shall be placed by the Superintendent in the job classification on the salary schedule of the current contract, and can advance up to Step 9 on the salary schedule.
8. Retire rehire employees are not eligible to receive an additional severance payment upon leaving employment with the District.
EMPLOYMENT OF RETIREES. The Parties acknowledge that they discussed the inclusion of the Memorandum of Understanding changing the length of school day during the most recent contract negotiations. During these negotiations, it was the intent of the parties to include this Letter of Understanding as part of the negotiated Collective Bargaining Agreement.
