Family Emergency Leave. The Corporation, upon reasonable notice, will grant a leave of absence to an employee using an employee’s choice of lieu time, vacation time or unpaid leave for reason of emergency leave as defined by the Employment Standards Act. The granting of such leave shall not be unreasonably withheld.
Family Emergency Leave. In the event of critical illness or hospitalization of an immediate family member, an employee shall be granted up to two (2) days leave with pay per calendar year. A letter of verification from the attending physician may be requested in support of such leave.
Family Emergency Leave. This letter will confirm the understanding reached by the parties during collective bargaining concerning the protocol that the Company will follow when considering an employee’s request for a leave of absence due to a family emergency. The entitlement to a Family Emergency Leave is restricted to requests regarding the care of family members listed in this contract under Xxxxxxxxxxx Leave (spouse, children, father or mother, brother, sister, father-in-law, mother-in-law, grandmother, grandfather, grandchild, brother-in-law, or sister-in-law). A family emergency leave must be a minimum of four (4) weeks and shall be no more than eight (8) weeks. An employee may make a special request for an extension of up to four (4) weeks. An employee’s request for an emergency leave will be granted at the Company’s discretion and subject to the Company’s operational needs. Limits may be placed, at the Company’s discretion, on the number of employees in any one department able to take a family emergency leave during any period of time. The Company may require employees taking a family emergency leave to provide medical, or other reasonable, evidence of the need for such a leave. An employee who has been advanced pay under this letter and who has not completed the repayment of that money before ceasing employment (for whatever reason) will be required to repay the full amount owing to the Company. The employee will sign a direction and authorization to such effect upon the commencement, and as a condition, of the leave.
Family Emergency Leave. In the case of sudden illness or injury of a member of a full-time employee’s immediate family, when no one at home other than the employee can provide for the needs of the ill or injured family member, the employee may take up to five paid days per calendar year to care for the dependent, and shall not be unreasonably refused requests for additional unpaid days off. See Article 16 (d) re part-time employees.
Family Emergency Leave. A leave without pay for the purpose of caring for or supporting a family member who is gravely ill shall be granted in accordance with the terms of the Employment Standards Act, 2000.
Family Emergency Leave. Sick leave or leave without pay may be used by an employee for illness in the immediate family which shall be defined as spouse, child, xxxxxx child, parent and legal guardian, stepchild, adult child, siblings, parent-in-laws, grandchild (to include adopted, xxxxxx and/or step-grandchild), grandparents and stepparents. The District will require a doctor certificate on family care leave claims for more than 5 days. When sick leave is used, it will be deducted from accrued sick leave.
Family Emergency Leave. Upon prior approval by the Chancellor or designee, and upon exhaustion of Personal Necessity Leave, a unit member may be granted a maximum of two (2) days paid leave in any school year to attend to a family emergency which requires the presence of the unit member. Such leave is not cumulative and is granted within the discretion of the District.
Family Emergency Leave. (a) An employee who is required to tend to a family member as defined below for urgent or medical reasons may request a maximum of two (2) employer paid family days in any one (1) calendar year for such absence. The employee shall request such leave from their immediate supervisor citing the relationship of the family member and the nature of the reason for which the leave is being requested.
(b) The request must be approved by the General Manager.
(c) For the purposes of 22.06 (a), family member is defined as:
a. A spouse b. A parent, step-parent, xxxxxx parent, child, step-child, xxxxxx child, grandparent, step-grandparent, grandchild or step-grandchild of the employee or the employee’s spouse
Family Emergency Leave. G.14.1 In cases of unexpected illness or injury to a teacher's immediate family, time off, without loss of pay, will be allowed to attend to family welfare.
G.14.2 Leave granted to persons under this section shall be limited to one (1) day for each situation. The Board reserves the right to request a medical report or certificate regarding the member's situation which necessitated the employee's leave of absence. Immediate family is defined as those members residing in the home of the teacher, or the parents of the member, or the parents of the member's spouse.
Family Emergency Leave. In all cases where there is an emergency situation and/or illness which requires the presence of an employee, that employee may be granted enough time off duty, at the discretion of the Department Manager or Library Director, so the employee may leave and make arrangements to get help to stay with the employee’s family, or otherwise arrange to alleviate the emergency situation. When the emergency situation extends beyond one (1) twenty-four (24) hour period of time, permission to be absent from work will have to be secured from the Library Director or Department Manager for every twenty-four (24) hour period thereafter. In any case where an employee has taken more than three (3) family emergency leave days in any given fiscal year, the fourth (4th) day will be deducted from the employee’s accrued sick leave days. Family emergency leave is not cumulative.
