FUNERAL DAYS. Employees shall be granted a maximum of three (3) working days leave of absence at the regular rate of pay if a death occurs to one of the following: father, mother, brother, sister, spouse, child, grandparents, spouse’s mother, father, brother, sister, grandchildren or other relatives that are members of the employee’s household at the time of death. Additionally, employees will be entitled to Funeral Leave for the employee if they are Legal Guardian of a person who is a member of the employee’s household at the time of death. Employees shall be granted one (1) day at regular rate of pay if a death occurs to his brother-in-law or sister-in-law. Pay shall be granted only for employee's regular work days spent in making funeral arrangements, attending the funeral, and traveling to and from the funeral. Employees must notify Job Xxxxxxx and Superintendent in charge before leave is taken. Upon returning to work the employee shall sign a statement attesting to the time and place of the funeral he attended and the relationship to him of the deceased.

FUNERAL DAYS. A teacher shall be granted up to two (2) days off without loss of pay or sick/personal time for a death in the teacher's immediate family. Three (3) additional days may be granted at the discretion of the building administrator without loss of pay or sick/personal time. Three (3) additional days will be granted to be deducted from sick or personal leave. Such days shall be consecutive, including Saturdays, Sundays, and days of school recess provided that payment shall not be made for any day the teacher would not have regularly worked. Immediate family shall mean: spouse, father, mother, father-in-law, mother-in-law, sister, brother, sister-in-law, brother-in-law, children, step-children, grandchildren, grandparent, aunt, uncle, xxxxx, nephew or others residing with the teacher, related, but being a legal dependent of the teacher. Time off under this section shall be charged to sick days. It shall be a condition of such days that the teacher attend the funeral or provide reasonable explanation for non-attendance. It is recognized that certain relationship of family not set forth above, may, due to individual and personal consideration, justify granting of such days. Further, it is recognized that in certain cases, extension of time off without pay would be necessary to attend to matters arising out of such death. Each of the above two situations shall be subject to specific application and determination by the Board or its designee.
FUNERAL DAYS. (a.) Teachers on a regular school year contract will be entitled to funeral leave as follows: Up to three (3) days leave for a death in their immediate family. Included are spouse, children, xxxxxxx(s), parents, grandparents, grandchildren, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, mother-in-law, father-in- law, brothers or sisters-in-law, and children of the employee’s spouse. Also, up to two (2) days leave for the death of the spouse’s grandparents, his/her brothers-in-law or sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews will be granted. Employees are not expected to use more days than are necessary to meet their responsibilities or obligations. Up to two additional days may be granted by the Superintendent in conjunction with the funeral days if, because of distance, extended travel is necessary or, because the personal relationship of the employee to the deceased requires additional time off. An employee may request the use of a business day for the funeral of a friend or relative not covered by this policy. Administration reserves the right to require verification of death of a relative and proof of relationship of such relative to the teacher. Failure to provide proof in a reasonable time will result in loss of pay of the days taken by the employee, as well as a written reprimand in the employee’s personnel file.

FUNERAL DAYS. The Employee shall be allowed three (3) days of absence, and any additional days approved by the Administrator without loss of pay or sick leave to make arrangements and/or attend the appropriate service (e.g., funeral, memorial service) due to the of death of a member of the immediate family. If additional days are needed, these days may be taken and will be charged to available personal days or be without pay as determined by the employee. Immediate family shall include: mother, father, husband, wife, child, stepchild, adopted child, sister, brother, grandparents, grandchild, father-in- law, mother-in-law, or any relative who is a permanent resident in the Employee’s home. Proof of relationship and attendance may be required.

If the funeral of an immediate family member is held more than two hundred fifty (250) miles from the Township Civic Center Offices, an employee will be granted one additional funeral leave with pay to attend the funeral. Immediate family shall be deemed to be a husband, wife, child, mother, father, sister, brother, grandparent, father-in-law, mother-in-law, stepfather, stepmother, stepchild, and grandchild. The employee shall be entitled to one (1) day with pay when so required in the event of the death of an aunt, uncle, niece, nephew, brother-in-law, or sister-in-law to attend funeral services. Additional days may be taken if needed and approved by the department head to be first charged to personal days, then vacation days, and lastly sick days.

FUNERAL DAYS. The Board of Education shall provide for three (3) non-accruing days per year for attendant services as a result of death in the immediate family (spouse, child, brother, sister, parent, parents-in-law, grandparents).

Employees, at the discretion of their immediate supervisor, may be granted time to attend the funerals of non-family members, other than previously listed. This time shall be charged to sick leave. An employee may save one of the five (5) days mentioned above to attend a memorial service or other business related to the death for use at a later date.
FUNERAL DAYS. PSPO members shall be entitled to up to four (4) days at any one time in the event of death of any employee's spouse, child, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, parent, father-in- law, mother-in-law, brother, sister, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, grandmother, grandfather, stepchild, stepmother, stepfather, stepbrother, stepsister, alternative lifestyle partner, or any other member of the immediate household. One (1) funeral day will be granted for aunt, uncle, and grandparents-in-law. In the event of the death of an employee or student in the Lodi School District, the principal or immediate superior of said employee or student shall grant to an appropriate number of employees sufficient time off to attend the funeral at the discretion of the Superintendent. The parties agree in principle that those days defined as funeral days shall be granted only on those days when school is in session.
