Jury and Crown Witness Duty. ‌ 17.01 An employee who is required to be a witness or to serve as a juror by anybody in Canada with powers of subpoena, shall be paid the difference between their normal earnings and the payment they receive for such service. The employee shall notify the Employer immediately upon their receipt of notification that they will be required to attend court and present proof of service requiring attendance and the amount of pay received.

Jury and Crown Witness Duty. Where a nurse is required to be absent by reason of receipt of a summons to attend as a juror or is required to attend as a witness in a court proceeding in which the Crown is a party, or is required by subpoena to attend a court of law or a coroner's inquest in connection with a case arising from the nurse's duties at the Centre, they shall be paid the difference between their normal pay and the amount paid for such service less expenses, computed at their normal hourly rate for all hours lost from work up to thirty-five (35) hours in a week, subject to the following conditions: (a) nurses must notify the Employer within one (1) working day after receipt of notice of selection for jury duty or subpoena as witness; (b) a nurse called for jury duty or subpoenaed as a witness and who is temporarily excused for attendance at Court, must report for work if a reasonable period of time remains to be worked in their shift; (c) nurses who are on other than the day shift shall be assigned to the day shift for those days they are required to serve as jurors or act as witnesses; (d) in order to be eligible for such payments the nurse must furnish a proper statement from the proper public official showing the date and time served and the amount of pay received.

The Company's obligation to pay an employee for jury duty or Crown witness duty is limited to a maximum of forty-five (45) days in any calendar year. In order to receive payment, an employee must give Management twenty-four (24) hours' prior notice that they have been summoned for jury duty or Crown witness duty and must furnish satisfactory evidence that they reported for or performed such duty on the days for which they claim such payment.

Jury and Crown Witness Duty. Employees serving on a Jury or serving as a witness for the Crown shall be paid in accordance with the Article 17, of the Collective Agreement based on 12 hours per entitlement day. Employees on bereavement leave shall be paid in accordance with the Article 18, of the Collective Agreement based on 12 hours per entitlement day. The equivalent of 24 hours will be the waiting period to qualify for the benefit
Jury and Crown Witness Duty. If an employee is required to report for jury duty or subpoenaed as a witness by the Crown in any court of law, on his regularly scheduled work day, the Company will make up the difference between his regular hourly pay for that day and the jury duty pay or witness pay received by him for that day. Jury and Crown Witness Duty. 21:01 If an employee is called upon to act on a panel of jurists or as a crown witness, the Company agrees to pay to the employee the difference between his/her pay at their regular hourly rate for the regular work schedule and the pay received for the said Jury or Witness Duty. 21:02 Where an employee attends court but is not called for service he/she shall return to complete the balance of their normally scheduled shift, where it is practical to do so.
Jury and Crown Witness Duty. 23.01 The Company will pay the employee the difference between his regular straight time hourly pay and the pay he receives while serving, or being selected, on a Jury, (including Coroner's Jury), or as a Crown Witness. In order to receive the difference in pay, the employee is required to submit his cheque (Jury Duty) or proof of attendance (Crown Witness) received from the Court to his Supervisor as proof of time served and payment received.
Jury and Crown Witness Duty. 32.1 An Employee required to attend for jury duty or crown witness service must advise the Employer of the intended absence as soon as practicable. In the case of an extended absence, the Employee must keep the Employer informed of the anticipated duration of the absence. 32.2 The Employer will pay the Employee the difference between the Employee's rate of pay for ordinary rostered hours and any payment received by the Employee from the court.
