Leave for Union Duties a) It is agreed that designated official representatives of the Union may be granted leave of absence without pay, to attend Union Conventions or perform any other functions on behalf of the Union and its affiliates, provided that prior approval of the Employer has been obtained. Such leave of absence shall not affect the Employee's seniority, benefits or rights contained in this Agreement.
b) It is agreed that any Employee who is elected or selected for a full-time, or temporary position with the Union, or any body with which the Union is affiliated, may be granted leave of absence without pay and without loss of seniority by the Employer for a period of up to one (1) year which may be renewed each year on request during the term of office.

(1) It is agreed that official representatives of the Union be granted leave of absence, without pay, to attend Union Conventions or perform any other function on behalf of the Union and its affiliation, provided not more than one (1) Union representative shall be away at any one (1) time. Such leave of absence shall not affect the employee's seniority and/or benefits contained in this Agreement.
(2) It is agreed that any employee who is elected or selected for a full-time position with the Union, or any body with which the Union is affiliated, shall be granted leave of absence without pay and without loss of seniority by the Employer for a period of up to two (2) years and may be renewed bi-annually on request during the employee’s term of office.
(3) With respect to any leave of absence granted without pay under paragraph (1), the Employer shall continue to pay such representative's regular pay and shall submit an account to the Union for such amount plus an additional flat rate of thirty percent (30%) of the pay to offset the cost of benefits paid by the Employer while such representative is on leave of absence. The Union shall then reimburse the Employer to the amount of the account within thirty (30) calendar days.

(b) It is agreed that any employee who is elected or selected for a full time position with any body with which the Union is affiliated, shall be granted leave without pay and without loss of seniority, and without any other entitlements, benefits, accruals or privileges allowed by this contract to employees, from the first day of their absence until the first day of their return, unless at the discretion of the Employer the duration of the absence is not considered significant and the Employer authorizes no adjustment.
(c) It is agreed that any employee who is elected or selected for a full time position with CUPE Local 498 or its successors shall be granted leave without pay and without loss of seniority by the Employer for a period of one (1) year and shall be renewed each year on request during his or her term of office.
Leave for Union Duties. An employee who is elected to full-time Union office shall be granted leave of absence without pay for a period of up to one (1) year. Such leave may be extended by agreement of the parties.

(a) Effective 2013 March 09: Official representatives of the Union may be granted leave of absence without pay, to attend Union Conventions or perform any other function on behalf of the Union and its affiliation, provided not more than four (4) Union representatives shall be away at any one time and provided the prior approval of the Employer has been obtained. Such leave of absence shall not affect the employee's seniority and/or benefits contained in this Agreement. Union agrees to provide a minimum of two (2) weeks’ notice for union leave to attend union conventions, library related conferences, union sponsored educational workshops, and union financial meetings of an obligatory nature.
(b) Any employee who is elected or selected for a full‐time position with the Union or any body with which the Union is affiliated, may be granted leave of absence without pay and without loss of seniority by the Employer for a period up to one year and may be renewed each year on request during the term of office.
Leave for Union Duties. It is agreed that official representatives of the Union may be granted leave of absence, without pay, to attend Union conventions or perform other functions on behalf of the Union and its affiliations, on the following understanding:
1. Where possible, a request for such leave shall be submitted to the Employer at least 2 weeks in advance.
2. Such leave of absence shall not be unreasonably withheld.
3. Such leave of absence shall not affect the Employee’s earned seniority and/or benefits contained in this Collective Agreement. The Employee will continue to be paid all wages and benefits to which they would otherwise be entitled to, and the Union agrees to reimburse the Employer for all wages and benefits paid by the Employer to the Union official while on leave.
4. Not more than 3 Union representatives shall be away at any 1 time, and the period of absence shall not exceed 5 working days.
5. Union representation in excess of that stipulated in Section 18.02(4) may be permitted to be away, subject to operational considerations, in order to allow Union members to attend retirement seminars sponsored by Canadian Union of Public Employees National.
Leave for Union Duties.

Such leave of absence shall not affect the employee's seniority and/or benefits contained in this Agreement.
(b) It is agreed that any employee who is elected or selected for a full-time position with the Union or any body with which the Union is affiliated, may be granted leave of absence without pay and without loss of seniority by the Employer for a period up to one (1) year and may be renewed each year on request during the term of office.
Leave for Union Duties. Any employee who is elected or appointed to a full-time position with the Local, National Union, or an affiliated body, shall be granted a leave of absence without pay or loss of seniority, for a period of up to one year. This leave will be renewed yearly if requested by the Union. The Employer shall maintain benefit coverage under Article and salary. The Employer will invoice the local union monthly for said costs of benefits and for salary during the period. The President while on leave shall have all rights and privileges of the collective agreement including seniority accumulation as if was at work. Leave of Absence for Union Functions Upon request to the Board, an employee elected or appointed to represent the Union at union functions shall be allowed leave of absence with pay and benefits. The Union will reimburse the Board for the full cost of such pay and benefits. Justified Leave Upon forty-eight (48) hours notice by the Union, release time shall be granted to the Union President to carry out Union activities at the Local level. Such release time shall not exceed two days per month, and the Union will reimburse the Board for all costs of salary and benefits associated with the leave. Invoicing the Union The Employer shall invoice the local union Treasurer for costs related to this article, ninety (90) days after the end of the leave. This invoice shall provide the following information: date of leave, name of employee, purpose of the leave, hours or work and hourly rate. All time while on leave shall be considered as time worked for the purposes of calculating service, seniority, and, any other benefit under the collective agreement. President’s Leave In order for the Local President to perform duties of office, the Employer shall, upon notification by the Union’s Recording Secretary, authorize a full or partial unpaid leave of absence for the Local Union President. The Employer shall maintain benefits under Article and salary. The Employer will invoice the Local Union monthly for said cost of benefits and for salary during the period.
