Maximum Sick Leave Accrual. Sick Leave with pay shall be granted to all full-time regular and probationary employees to a maximum of 2080 hours.
Maximum Sick Leave Accrual a. Any unused balance of sick leave at 100% of full pay at the end of any calendar year shall be carried over and accumulated from one calendar year to the next up to a maximum of 800 hours. However, any unused sick leave at 100% of full pay remaining at the end of any calendar year, which, if added to an employee’s accumulated sick leave at 100% of full pay, will exceed 800 hours, shall be compensated with a cash payment of 50% of the employee’s salary rate current at the date of payment, as soon as practicable after the end of each calendar year.
Maximum Sick Leave Accrual. Sick leave may be accrued to a maximum of 140 days (1120 hours). Sick leave shall not accrue during leaves of absence without pay or suspensions in excess of ten (10) working days per year. When a Unit Member receives Workers' Compensation temporary benefits and is not able to work in his/her position held immediately prior to the commencement of payment of Workers' Compensation temporary benefits, the employee will accrue sick leave on the same basis as if regularly employed, but such accrual is credited to the employee only upon return to work. If an employee separates without returning to work, no payment shall be made for such sick and vacation credit. For absences of more than three (3) days, the Village requires a qualified doctor's note indicating the illness of the Unit Member and verifying the amount of sick leave taken was necessary based upon the Unit Member's illness. "Qualified doctor” shall be a duly licensed doctor of medicine. The Village has the right, at its sole discretion, to verify that Unit Members are using sick leave for the purpose for which it is provided. Full-time Unit Members may use sick leave when ill, when the full-time Unit Member has a doctor's appointment, but not to exceed the extent of time required to complete such appointments, or when an immediate family member (spouse, child, or parent) is ill, and to supplement Workers' Compensation temporary disability benefits as a result of an on-the-job injury in an amount sufficient to equal the employee's regular rate of pay during the period of temporary disability, provided however such supplementary benefits shall not be paid in excess of the accrued sick leave credited to the employee. Extended use of sick leave in excess of three (3) days to care for an immediate family member shall be in accordance with the Family and Medical Leave Act and Village policy. Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) shall run concurrently with employee sick leave usage. Earned sick leave accruals must be exhausted prior to taking an unpaid medical leave of absence.
Maximum Sick Leave Accrual. The maximum allowable sick leave accrual shall be eight hundred (800) hours except for the following conditions: An employee with a sick leave accrual balance in excess of either eight hundred (800) hours or their individual maximum shall receive an annual cash payment of twenty-five percent (25%) fifty percent (50%) of his/her hours over the accrual maximum.
Maximum Sick Leave Accrual. For Eligible Employees, there shall be no limit 7 to the number of sick leave hours that an employee may accrue and carry over from year-to-year. For 8 STT employees, a limit of 40 hours of unused sick leave may be carried over to the following 9 calendar year. On January 1 of each calendar year, all accrued sick leave over 40 hours will be 10 forfeited for STT employees.

No payment of sick leave in excess of such maximum amount shall occur. Effective January 1, 2024, an Excess Sick Payout Pilot Program (ESPPP) shall be created whereby, at the end of calendar years 2023*, 2024, 2025, 2026, 2027, and 2028, any unused balance of sick leave at 100% of full pay remaining at the end of each of those calendar years, which, if added to an employee’s accumulated sick leave at 100% of full pay, will exceed 800 hours, shall, as soon as practicable after the end of each of those calendar years, be compensated by a cash payment of 100% of the salary rate current at the end of the pay period containing the date of December 31. *Any employee who was compensated in January 2024 for accumulated sick leave in excess of eight hundred (800) hours, at 50% of full pay, shall be paid an additional amount equal to the original amount received in January 2024, as soon as practicable following Council adoption and implementation of this 2024-2029 MOU. Upon expiration of the ESPPP, the City shall revert to the payout provision codified in the first paragraph of (B) above, which provides for cash payment of 50% of the salary rate current at the date of payment.
