Music, Games, or Programs. Students are responsible for maintaining the integrity of software required for facilitating academic activities. All software must be district provided. Music and games are not allowed to be played on the laptop during school hours without the permission from the teacher. Violent games and computer images containing obscene or pornographic material are strictly prohibited at any time and will result in disciplinary action.
Music, Games, or Programs. The Sterling High School Acceptable Usage Agreement states that students are expected to comply with ethical-use guidelines and abide by the federal copyright laws. Music, videos, and games may not be downloaded, installed, or saved to the hard drive. Music and games can be disruptive during class and may not be used in school unless the student has permission from the teacher for an educational project. Deleting Files Do not delete any folders or files that you did not create or that you do not recognize. Deletion of files could interfere with the functionality of the tablet. Originally Installed Software/Apps BKHS will pre-configure the iPad with the necessary Apps for school. The software/ Apps originally installed by BKHS must remain on the iPad and be easily accessible at all times. Apps may be installed from the mobile device management (MDM) Catalog ONLY. From time to time the school may add or modify software applications through the BKHS MDM software. The iPad may be inspected at any time to ensure the iPad is configured per school policy. Software/Apps/Upgrades Upgraded versions of licensed software/Apps are available from time to time. Students should ensure that Apps are updated as necessary. Any additional course- specific Apps must be approved by the Academic Xxxx’x Office and if approved can only be obtained through the App Catalog using your school specific Apple ID.

Printing at home will require a wireless printer, proper settings on the iPad and the correct app. MANAGING YOUR FILES & SAVING YOUR WORK Saving Work It is the student’s responsibility to ensure that work is not lost due to mechanical failure or accidental deletion. iPad malfunctions are not an acceptable excuse for not submitting work; therefore, students should back up all work.

Batteries must be fully charged prior to arriving at school each day. Student Acceptable Use Policy for Technology Resources These guidelines are provided so students and parents are aware of the responsibilities students accept when they use District-owned computer hardware, laptops, operating system software, application software, stored text, data files, electronic mail, local databases, CD- ROMs, digitized information, communications technologies and internet access. In general, this requires efficient, ethical and legal utilization of all technology resources. Expectations • During the class period, student use of computers, other technology hardware, software, and computer networks, including the internet is only allowed when supervised or permission has been granted by an instructional staff member. • All users are expected to follow existing copyright laws. Copyright guidelines are posted and/or available in the media center (library) of each campus, as well as posted on the District website. • Although the District has an Internet safety plan in place, students are expected to notify a staff member whenever they come across information or messages that are inappropriate, dangerous, threatening, or make them feel uncomfortable. • Students who identify or know about a security problem are expected to convey the details to their teacher without discussing it with other students. Unauthorized Access (Board Policy) Access to another person’s iPad without consent or knowledge is considered hacking and is unacceptable. iPad Violations If a student is found violating any of the terms mentioned in the Courtenay iPad Agreement, the Chicago Public School Student Handbook and Code of Conduct, including the Student Guidelines for Acceptable Use of Technology, they will be subject to penalties aforementioned in these documents and the loaned Chromebook can at any time be taken away as a result of those actions.
