On-Call Assignment. SECTION 1 – Definition
On-Call Assignment. “On-call” assignment shall be defined as any time when appropriate UCF management has specifically instructed the employee in advance, in writing, to remain available to work during an off-duty period. Only employees employed in the specialty units shall be assigned “on-call” status. An employee who is so instructed shall be required to leave word where the employee may be reached by telephone or by other electronic signal device in order to be available to return to a work location on short notice to perform assigned duties. While on call the employee shall maintain the appropriate physical condition for the performance of law enforcement duties. An “on-call” status employee who is required to be on-call Monday through Friday shall be compensated by payment of a fee in an amount of one dollar ($1.00) per hour for each hour such employee is required to be on-call. An employee who is required to be on-call on a Saturday, Sunday, or University recognized holiday will be compensated by payment of a fee in an amount equal to one-quarter (1/4) the base rate for the classification of the employee for each hour such employee is required to be available. Such additional “on-call” compensation shall remain in effect only so long as the employee is serving in the specialty unit and is performing the required “on-call” assignments.
On-Call Assignment. Designated qualified employees who are assigned to respond during non-scheduled work hours (primarily evenings, weekends, and holidays) at times of emergency shall be subject to on-call pay. The conditions and compensation regarding the assignment of employees to be available on-call are as follows. Consistent with the voluntary opt-in provision listed below, a list of employees assigned to be available and ready to respond to an emergency will be established and updated as needed by the Public Works Department. The Department will consider the following factors in establishing and maintaining on-call duty lists:
On-Call Assignment. “On-call” is an assigned duty outside the normal work week assignment during which an employee must remain where the employee can be contacted by telephone or pager and is ready to immediately respond to perform an essential service for the department. An employee who is assigned on-call duty shall be compensated at the rate of $196.80 per weekly assignment of such duty.
On-Call Assignment. On-call assignment shall be defined as any time when appropriate management has instructed the employee, in writing, to remain available to work during an off-duty period. An employee who is so instructed shall be required to leave word where the employee may be reached by telephone or by other electronic signaling device in order to be available to return to a work location on short notice to perform assigned duties as required.
On-Call Assignment. 6.1.4.1 On-Call Assignments shall be filled between the qualified resource center, department and/or workgroup employees as equitably as practicable; qualified employees are those identified by Management as having the necessary skills to handle emergency response work.
6.1.4.2 If employees are assigned a Company vehicle for the purposes of emergency response when On-Call, travel to and from work is not considered commuting for the purposes of Section 6.1.3.2 nor is it considered paid time. Employees working On-Call Assignment are required to accept any Call-Ins.
6.1.4.3 Employees are responsible for the accuracy of their contact information. On-Call guidelines shall be documented by each department and/or workgroup as applicable.
On-Call Assignment. It is the intent of the Employer that, whenever possible, “On Call” duty will be performed on a voluntary basis. If there are insufficient volunteers available to provide “On Call” duty, the Employer reserves the right to assign Employees. In the event the Employer determines that mandatory assignments are required, the Employer shall provide formal notice of at least two (2) weeks to the intended assignees and provide a copy of the notice to the Association.
On-Call Assignment. With the exception of the (1) Senior Mechanic, (2) Public Works Worker, and (3) the Superintendent of Public Works, all Employees deemed qualified by the Superintendent (or his designee) in his sole discretion will be required to be on- call through the on-call smart phone on a rotating basis. [Such exception does not preclude the Senior Mechanic, Public Works Worker, or Superintendent of Public Works from being called in to assist in an emergency situation in the City’s discretion after the other Union Employees are called.] The Employee will receive $130.00 a week for being on-call. That Employee shall also be responsible for opening the City parks during the related weekends and for cleaning park bathrooms, emptying trash barrels and cleaning park rental facilities. However, that Employee shall have the first right of refusal to open the City parks during the related weekend and for cleaning park bathrooms, emptying trash barrels and cleaning park rental facilities at standard hourly (overtime) rates. If the Employee declines preforming the work, the Employee is responsible for finding a replacement Employee to perform the work, but, in the interest of equalizing overtime, the first option for a replacement Employee shall be the Public Works Worker. Further, Employees who carry the pager on a Holiday noted below, shall receive an additional Floating Holiday as follows: July 4 – 1 Floating Holiday Memorial Day = 1 Floating Holiday Labor Day = 1 Floating Holiday Thanksgiving Day and the Day After = 1 Floating Holiday Christmas Eve Day and Christmas Day = 1 Floating Holiday New Year’s Eve Day and New Year’s Day = 1 Floating Holiday.
