ARTICLE PROGRESSION ON THE WAGE GRID Collective Agreements currently containing a part-time wage grid shall continue such wage grids in effect. Effective October employees shall progress on such grid on the basis that hours worked equals one (1) year of service. Influenza Vaccine The parties agree that influenza vaccinations may be beneficial for patients and hospital employees. Upon a recommendation pertaining to a facility or a specifically designated thereof from the Medical Officer of Health or in compliance with applicable provincial legislation, the following rules will apply: Employees shall, subject to the following, be required to be vaccinated for influenza. If the full cost of such medication is not covered by some other source, the Hospital will pay the cost for the vaccine. \ If an to take the vaccine required under this provision, she or he may be placed on an unpaid leave of absence during any influenza outbreak in the hospital until such time as the employee is cleared to return to work. If an employee is placed on unpaid leave, she or he can use banked lieu time or vacation credits in order to keep her or his pay whole. If an employee refuses to take the vaccine because it is medically contraindicated, and where a medical certificate is provided to this effect, she or he will be reassigned during the outbreak period, unless such reassignment is not possible, in which case the employee will be paid. It is further agreed that -such reassignment will not adversely impact the scheduled hours of other employees. Notwithstanding the above, the Hospital may offer the vaccine on a voluntary basis to employees free of charge. This clause shall be interpreted in a manner consistent with the Ontario Human Rights Code.

In the event the Hospital requires an employee to undergo a medical examination, the employee will be given reasonable paid time off to see his physician or to undergo the examination in the Hospital, whichever the employee prefers. Where the employee chooses to use his own physician and, in the opinion of the Hospital, the physician's report is inadequate and a further consultation is required, then the second visit will be on the employee's time or during working hours without pay.

Payment will be provided only if the employee provides evidence of disability to the and a written undertaking satisfactory to the Hospital that any payments will be refunded to the Hospital following final determination of the claim by the Workers' Compensation Board. If the claim workers compensation is not approved, the monies paid as an advance will be towards the benefits to which the employee would be entitled under the short term portion of the disability income plan. Any payment under this provision will continue for a maximum of fifteen weeks. The agrees that employees who are successful in being compensated for lost wages, benefits, vacation pay and any other employment-related items from a third party as a result any action, lawsuit or whatever will reimburse the Hospital for its expenditures related to the above. The Hospital has the right to verify the details of any such settlement. Any which may arise concerning an entitlement to long-term disability benefits, and which is not covered by the appeal mechanism provided for under the policy of insurance, may be the subject of grievance and arbitration under the provisions of this agreement.
