Service Credit for Sick Leave. All employees shall be entitled to sick leave with pay as specified hereunder.
a. Sick leave for purposes herein is defined to mean absence from work of an employee because of personal illness by reason of which such employee is unable to perform the usual duties of his/her position. Sick leave may be used by employees who are unable to work because of:
i. Personal illness or injury.
ii. Exposure to contagious disease.
iii. Care, for a reasonable period of time of a seriously ill member of the employee’s immediate family. “Immediate family” is defined by N.J.A.
Service Credit for Sick Leave. Employees who retire from the City of San Xxxxxx within 120 days of leaving City employment (excludes deferred retirements) shall receive employment service credit for retirement purposes only for all hours of accrued, unused sick leave (exclusive of any sick leave hours they are eligible to receive and they elect to receive in compensation for at the time of retirement pursuant to Section 5.1.6 Compensation for Unused Portion (Sick Leave Payoff). Employees hired on or after July 1, 2009 are not eligible to receive employment service credit of any accrued, unused sick leave for retirement purposes.

For the purposes of this Article, “member of immediate family" is interpreted as meaning father, mother, husband, wife, child, xxxxxx child, stepchild residing in employee's household, sister, brother or relatives of the employee residing in employee's household.
Service Credit for Sick Leave. 1. All permanent employees, or full time provisional employees, shall be entitled to sick leave with pay based on their aggregate years of service.
2. Sick leave may be utilized by employees when they are unable to perform their work by reason of personal illness, accident, or exposure to contagious disease.
3. Such sick leave shall not include any extended period where the employee serves as a nurse or housekeeper, during this period of illness.

Service Credit for Sick Leave. 1. All employees shall be entitled to sick leave with pay based on their aggregate years of service.
2. Sick leave may be utilized by employees when they are unable to perform their work by reason of personal illness, accident or exposure to contagious disease. The employer has a reasonable expectation that the employee is convalescing and/or seeking medical assistance as opposed to other unrestricted activities associated with time off for vacations, compensatory time or holidays. Both parties to this contract agree that abuse of the sick leave benefit is unacceptable and subject to managerial response. Sick leave may also be utilized for short periods because of death in the employee's immediate family as defined below.

Employees retiring from city service, within 120 days of leaving their position (excludes deferred retirements), and who will be receiving an ongoing retirement annuity from the Marin County Employees’ Retirement System can receive service credit for retirement purposes only, for all hours of accrued, unused sick leave (exclusive of any sick leave hours they are eligible to receive and which they elect to receive in the form of compensation for at the time of retirement pursuant to Section 5.1.6 Compensation for Unused Portion. Employees hired on or after October 31, 2009 are not eligible to receive employment service credit of any accrued, unused sick leave for retirement purposes.
Service Credit for Sick Leave. 1. All permanent employees or full-time provisional employees shall be entitled to sick leave with pay based on their aggregate years of service for non-work related causes.
2. Sick leave may be utilized by employees when they are unable to perform their work by reason of personal illness, non- work related accident, or exposure to contagious disease which is non-work related. Sick leave benefits may also be utilized in order to attend a member of the employee's immediate family who is seriously ill, or when the employee's attendance is required by a member of the immediate family. Immediate family shall be defined as the employee's husband, wife, child, stepchild, mother, father, brother, sister, or spouse's mother, father, brother or sister.
3. Any absence on account of illness or disability of an employee or a member of the employee's immediate family in excess of three (3) days must be certified by a written statement from the attending physician.
4. During protracted periods of illness or disability of an employee or a member of the employee's immediate family, the Township Committee may require interim reports on the condition of the patient at weekly or bi-weekly periods, from the attending physician and/or a Township Medical Physician. When under medical care, employees are expected to conform to the instructions of the attending physician if they wish to qualify for salary payment during such period of illness or disability.
