Union Leave Without Pay. An employee elected as a delegate to Union conventions, seminars, or training sessions shall be granted leave of absence without pay. Where absence of more than one (1) employee creates a staffing problem within a service point/division this provision shall be limited to one (1) employee.
Union Leave Without Pay. The County may grant up to five (5) consecutive days leave of absence without pay to any member of the Executive Board, Chief Stewards, Stewards and Committee persons, to attend Union functions or seminars, provided, however, that reasonable advance notice is given and that such leave does not interfere with the personnel requirements of the department. Seniority and all fringe benefits shall continue during such leave. Exceptions to the five (5) consecutive days leave may be made for employees with unique scheduling circumstances.
Union Leave Without Pay. 04 The Employer will grant leave without pay to an Employee who is party to an arbitration. .05 Commencing two (2) months prior to the expiry date of the Collective Agreement or as otherwise agreed, the Employer will grant leave without pay to three (3) Employees during regular working hours at the rate of four (4) block hours per day per employee to a maximum of twelve (12) block hours in total for the purposes of attending preparatory or contract negotiation meetings on behalf of the Union.
Union Leave Without Pay. In the event a bargaining unit member is elected or appointed to a statewide union office, the College agrees to provide that individual, upon request, with an unpaid leave of absence not to exceed two (2) years. The union may also designate up to 2 employees a calendar year to participate in its lost time program for up to 3 months. An employee whose request for leave without pay for this program is granted shall not be separated from the payroll. No leave is accrued during a period of leave without pay. Employees participating in this program shall be placed in their previous position upon return to the College.
Union Leave Without Pay. Subject to operational requirements, the Employer shall grant leave without pay to two (2) employees with respect to:
Union Leave Without Pay. An employee, but not more than one (1) at any one time, who accepts an official position with the Union, shall be granted a leave of absence without pay not to exceed twelve (12) months in duration. Such employee shall be reinstated by the Agency provided that such employee notified the Agency in writing of their intent to return to work thirty (30) calendar days in advance and provided further that said employee is still qualified to perform the applicable job duties. (The leave shall commence at the time a satisfactory replacement is available to perform the employee's services, but in no event later than thirty (30) calendar days from the time the Agency is notified of the employee's intent to accept the Union position if the Agency must post for the position, or ten (10) calendar days from the date the Agency is notified if the Union leave will be for ten (10) working days or less).
Union Leave Without Pay. (a) Provided advance notice is given, leave of absence, without salary, but without loss of seniority or benefits, will be granted to Union Representatives to:
(i) attend conventions of the Union and bodies to which the Union is affiliated when notice is provided to their immediate manager, in writing, at least seven (7) calendar days in advance;
(ii) attend to Union business, which requires them to leave their premises of employment;
(iii) attend to Union business on a full-time basis (Notice in writing will be provided seven (7) calendar days in advance); or
(iv) attend to Union business, unrelated to grievance handling, at their place of employment.
(b) When leave of absence, without salary, is granted for the purpose of attending to Union business, the Board will maintain the employee’s regular salary and the Union will reimburse the Board. When leaves granted exceed ten (10) consecutive working days, the Union will reimburse the Board for the Board’s share of benefits.
Union Leave Without Pay. The University shall endeavour to grant a leave of absence without pay for any member of the bargaining unit for the purpose of attending conferences or seminars related to activities of the Union. Such leaves without pay will only be granted in situations where no additional cost or burden shall be borne by the University or the department. No more than four (4) employees shall be absent on Union Leave [(a) and/or (b) above] at the same time. No more than two (2) employees shall be absent on Union Leave [(a) and/or (b) above] from the same department at the same time. A request for such leave shall be provided by the Local 608 President, or his/her designate, on behalf of the member, to the member’s immediate supervisor with a copy to the Vice-President, Finance, Administration & Strategic Capital Investments, or his/her designate, as soon as possible, but no later than ten (10) working days in advance. The parties are encouraged to provide a plan to ensure that operational requirements are met. These requests shall not be unreasonably denied.
Union Leave Without Pay. At the request of the Union, a leave of absence without pay may be granted at the discretion of the Human Resources Department to any employee for employment with the Union, Ohio Council 8 or the International AFSCME Union. Such leave shall be for a time certain and seniority shall continue in the department and classification at which time such leave is granted. In the event the employee chooses to return to employment prior to the time that the stated leave was granted, the Employer shall, upon written notice, re-establish employment to the employee to the next position vacancy available in which the employee is qualified. In the event no vacancies exist at the time of the notice, the employee shall be placed on recall as provided in this Agreement. Upon reinstatement the employee's service with the Employer shall be considered continuous for the purpose of all benefits and rights as provided in this Agreement.
Union Leave Without Pay a. An employee may be relieved from work for union business other than that described in Section F, 1& 3. Such leave will not be considered hours worked for purposes of calculating overtime.
b. Time off must be submitted in writing from the Union President/Business Agent or designee at least twenty-four (24) hours in advance of such time off. If unforeseen needs arise, the Union will notify the employee’s supervisor requesting leave and the employer will determine if the request can be approved.
