Use of Sick Leave for Personal Necessity. During any school year a unit member may, at his/her election, use seven (7) days of accumulated sick leave benefits in the following cases of personal necessity: Death of a member of his/her immediate family (see definition of immediate family under Xxxxxxxxxxx Leave). Accident involving his/her person or property, the illness or accident of a member of the immediate family. Appearance in court or in front of an administrative agency as a litigant or as witness under an official court order. Graduation of a son or daughter. One (1) day is permitted if ceremonies are held within one hundred fifty (150) miles of the employee’s home and two (2) days are permitted if the ceremonies are held more than one hundred fifty (150) miles from the employee’s home. An employee, other than a casual employee, with responsibilities in relation to a class of person set out in subparagraph (ii) of paragraph (c) of this sub-clause, who needs the employee’s care and support shall be entitled to use, in accordance with this sub-clause, any current or accrued sick leave entitlements provided for in clause 18 of the award, sick leave, for absences to provide care and support for such persons when they are ill.
