WINTER CLOSURE. The District reserves the right to close facilities during the winter break. In the event of closure, the District shall provide bargaining unit members with three (3rd) days paid leave for use during the winter closure period in lieu of regularly scheduled work days not identified in Article
15.1 as paid holidays. The District may grant a fourth (4th) day of paid leave to eligible bargaining unit members dependent upon the calendar and mutual agreement.
14.14.1 A less than twelve (12) month bargaining unit member who is in off duty and off pay status during the winter closure is ineligible for the three days of paid leave provided in Article 14.14.
14.14.2 The District reserves the right to assign bargaining unit members to work during the winter closure period. Bargaining unit members assigned to work during this period thus unable to use the paid leave under this section will accrue the appropriate amount of paid leave of Alternative Time Off (ATO). (Article 11.12)
14.14.2.1 Leave shall be taken at the request of the bargaining unit member with approval by the immediate management supervisor/designee. Leave shall be taken by the end of the current fiscal year prior to the use of accrued vacation or compensatory time off (CTO).
14.14.2.1.1 Winter closure leave not taken by the end of the current fiscal year shall be appropriately compensated.
WINTER CLOSURE. The last seven (7) working days prior to January 2, except when January 1 falls on a Sunday, then the seven (7) working days shall include January 2.
WINTER CLOSURE. The District will maintain the time from Christmas Eve through New Year’s Day as closure. This provision will not reduce employee compensation, or cause the use of accrued vacation or compensatory time.
12.1.1.1 When Christmas Eve falls on a Tuesday, the preceding Monday will be considered a closure day. When New Year’s Day falls on a Thursday the following Friday will be considered a closure day.
12.1.1.2 Bargaining unit employees required to work during a non-holiday work day during the closure due to an emergency will be provided with a minimum of four hours in lieu of time per instance. If the employee is called into work during a non-workday or holiday they will be entitled to overtime/comp-time in accordance to Article 9 (Hours and Overtime).
WINTER CLOSURE. 7.01 Employees will normally be entitled to four days off during the regular work week period of December 26 to December 31 inclusive in accordance with the following provisions.
WINTER CLOSURE. The four work days between Christmas Day and New Year’s Day shall be paid by the Employer and will be part of the annual hours of work. Any assignment of work during this period may be done at any time chosen by the employee.
WINTER CLOSURE. Kiwassa Neighbourhood House (Harbourview Daycare) is closed from 12:00 p.m. December 24th to the first working day in January. All employees shall be entitled to take this time off without loss of pay.
WINTER CLOSURE. The Employer agrees to pay employees for the winter closure period of December 24 to January 1, inclusive.
WINTER CLOSURE. 23.01 Employees will normally be entitled to 4 days off during the regular work week period, December 26 to December 31 inclusive, as follows:
(a) The regularly scheduled work days will be designated as days off with pay (i.e. paid but not worked) and employees will receive the base pay they regularly receive for their normal day’s work.
(b) Where an employee is scheduled and required to work on one or more of these days off, s/he will receive straight time pay and an alternative day off with pay. This day will be scheduled for a mutually agreeable time within 6 months. Failing mutual agreement, the employee’s supervisor may schedule the employee off or pay the employee for time off in lieu.
(c) An employee on standby and/or called back during a designated day off with pay will be treated as if s/he were on standby or call back on a day of rest and will also receive his/her regular day’s pay.
(d) To be eligible for these designated days off with pay, an eligible employee must be at work (or be on approved leave with pay) his/her last normal working day before these designated paid days off and his/her first normal working day after.
(e) Eligible employees covered by clause 9.05 (Modified Hours) will be entitled, at a mutually agreeable time (no more than 6 months later), to equivalent time off to a maximum of 7, 7.5 or 8 hours, as appropriate, for each designated day off with pay scheduled and worked. Failing mutual agreement, the employee’s supervisor may schedule the employee off or pay the employee for time off in lieu.
WINTER CLOSURE. Section 1: Winter Closure shall be defined as the time period between Christmas Day and New Years Day, specifically from 6:00am on December 26th through 6:00am on January 1st. The University, at its sole discretion, shall determine the number of officers who work during Winter Closure.
Section 2: Officers who are not required to work on their regularly-scheduled workdays during Winter Closure shall be paid at their regular straight-time hourly rate for twelve (12) hours for each such Closure day off.
Section 3: Officers who are required to work during Winter Closure shall be granted alternative time off with pay in lieu of paid time off during Winter Closure. Such alternative time off shall be equal to the total of all time worked during Winter Closure. All such alternative time off must be taken prior to July 1 of each year and granted in the same manner as Annual Leave.
Section 4: Officers shall receive no pay for their regularly-scheduled days off that occur during Winter Closure.
Section 5: Officers may request in writing at least forty-five (45) days in advance not to work their regularly-scheduled workdays during Winter Closure. Such requests shall be granted or denied by the University based on the requesting officers' classification seniority, with the senior officers receiving preference.
WINTER CLOSURE. All bargaining unit employees will have the week between December 24 and January 1 off on paid time and will not be required to report to work.
