WORKPLACE SAFETY AND HEALTH. 18.1 The College and UFE are committed to providing a safe and secure work environment.
18.2 The College shall maintain all facilities, equipment and materials in a safe and healthful condition that will comply with state and federal statutes regarding safety in the workplace
18.3 Protective devices and clothing, and first aid equipment shall be provided to faculty members whose teaching requires such measures; if necessary, training will be provided to faculty members on the safe operation of the equipment prior to use.
18.4 Faculty members are entitled to a timely review of a workstation to evaluate ergonomic issues.
18.5 Faculty members shall not be required to work under hazardous conditions nor perform tasks that endanger their health or safety. No faculty member shall be disciplined or suffer a loss in pay for refusing to work in a situation where a reasonable person, acting in good faith, would conclude that there is a real danger of death or serious injury, as described in WAC 000-000-000.
WORKPLACE SAFETY AND HEALTH. 34:01 The University agrees to continue the Workplace Safety and Health Committee.
34:02 The Union’s local at the University shall have at least one (1) member on this Committee, dependent on the structure agreed to between the University, the various unions, and the Workplace Safety and Health Division.
34:03 The University will continue to provide its employees with safe working conditions, equipment and materials, and will continue to ensure that all reasonable precautions are taken.
34:04 The Union will continue to make every effort to obtain the cooperation of each employee within the bargaining unit in the observation of all reasonable safety rules, practices and procedures.
34:05 Every employee shall take all reasonable precautions and follow all reasonable safety rules, practices and procedures in order to protect her safety and health and the safety and health of any other persons who may be affected by her acts or omissions at work.
34:06 Where a supervisor knows that any condition exists at a workplace that is unusually dangerous to the safety or health of an employee, he/she shall not require or permit an employee to engage in, carry on or continue to work in that workplace under that condition.
(a) Where an employee has reason to believe, and does believe, that a condition exists that is dangerous to her safety or health in the performance of her work, she shall report that condition to her supervisor.
(b) The supervisor, upon being notified under (a) above, shall inspect the condition with the employee and discuss the employee’s reasons for believing the condition to be dangerous. The co-chairpersons of the Health and Safety Committee may be asked to participate.
(c) If the employee is not satisfied with the supervisor’s decision or if the supervisor refuses to inspect the condition, the employee shall contact, in writing or by telephone, the Workplace Safety and Health Division without delay.
(d) If the employee refuses to work because of her belief that the condition is dangerous, she must be available to perform other work assigned to her.
34:07 Nothing in this Article prevents the doing of any work or thing that may be necessary in order to remedy the dangerous condition described herein.
34:08 Disciplinary action shall not be taken against an employee solely for the reason that:
(a) she made a report under this Article, and/or
(b) she refused to work or continue to work under the conditions described under this Article provided a Safety ...
WORKPLACE SAFETY AND HEALTH. Every Employer shall comply with Workplace Safety and Health standards and all rules, regulations and orders pursuant to applicable laws, which for greater certainty include the Workplace Safety and Health Act and its Regulations. It is agreed and understood that the Employer is obligated to provide to the Union and to each and every of its employees, no matter what time a shift is scheduled to begin, with any and all appropriate and necessary Safety and Health policies. It is, further understood, that while employees are entitled raise concerns with the Union and to request copies of policies in its possession, to the Union is not the Employer for the purposes of this Article.
WORKPLACE SAFETY AND HEALTH. 16.01 The Union will be allowed representatives to serve as members of the Employers Workplace Safety and Health Committee in accordance with The Workplace Safety and Health Act.
16.02 Minutes from the Workplace Safety and Health Committee meetings will be posted on the bulletin board at each school.
WORKPLACE SAFETY AND HEALTH. 16.01 The Employer and Union agree to maintain working conditions which are conducive to the safety and health of all employees and to take reasonable steps to correct any conditions that are detrimental to the safety and health of any employees.
16.02 The Employer agrees to provide time off with pay at a minimum of two (2) days per year for the purpose of allowing members of the Health and Safety Committee to attend approved Health and Safety Seminars, and courses or conferences for job improvement. The time and scheduling of this time off is to be mutually agreed between the Employer and the Union, however, such time off shall not be unreasonably denied. Additional time off without pay shall be granted to members of the Health and Safety Committee if so requested by the Union, providing such additional time off is mutually agreed to between the Employer and the Union. However, such time off shall not be unreasonably denied.
16.03 The Employer agrees to a joint Labour/Management Health and Safety Committee which shall meet monthly, or as mutually agreed upon. The Committee must be comprised of three (3) bargaining unit members chosen by the Union and up to three (3) Management persons.
16.04 A first aid kit shall be supplied by the Employer.
WORKPLACE SAFETY AND HEALTH. 20.01 The Contractor acknowledges that it may also be an “employer”, a “self-employed person”, a “supplier” and/or a “contractor” as the terms are defined in The Workplace Safety and Health Act (Manitoba). The Contractor shall comply with and undertake all duties and responsibilities as set out in the Act with respect to each and every function under the Act.
WORKPLACE SAFETY AND HEALTH. 17:01 The Employer and the Union agree to maintain a joint Health and Safety Committee in accordance with the Manitoba Workplace Safety and Health Act, its regulations, codes of practice and guidelines.
(a) Consult with the Employer in designing and preparing a written safety and health program;
(b) Participate in inspections of the workplace at regular intervals with a minimum interval being quarterly and ensure that the inspections are carried out in a manner determined by the committee;
(c) Participate in investigations of accidents and dangerous occurrences at the workplace;
(d) Recommend measures required to attain compliance with appropriate government regulations and the correction of hazardous conditions;
(e) Consider recommendations from the workforce with respect to health and safety matters and recommend implementation where warranted; and;
(f) Record the minutes of the meetings which will be signed by the co- chairs, posted on the bulletin board and copies sent to the Workplace Safety and Health Division and the Union.
17:02 Time spent by members of this committee in the course of their duties shall be considered as time worked and will reflect their regular rate of pay.
17:03 Each Union member of the committee will be granted an educational leave for a period of two (2) normal working days to a maximum of sixteen (16) hours each year without loss of pay or other benefits for the purposes of attending workplace safety and health training seminars, programs or courses of instruction.
WORKPLACE SAFETY AND HEALTH. Contractor warrants that it will comply with all applicable safety and health requirements, including the Aerosol Transmissible Diseases Standard, 8 CCR § 5199, and applicable Cal/OSHA guidance. Contractor further warrants that it will comply with Labor Code sections 6310 and 6311 pertaining to protection of employees who file complaints or refuse to work in the face of hazardous conditions.
WORKPLACE SAFETY AND HEALTH. The Manitoba Government's present "Code of Practice" for Workplace Safety and Health Committees shall be considered the regulations for the Employer and the Employees joint safety committee.
WORKPLACE SAFETY AND HEALTH. 48:01 A Workplace Safety and Health Committee shall be maintained in accordance to the guide lines of the Workplace Safety and Health Act.
