Safety and Health Committees. (a) Occupational Safety and Health Committees will be established, maintained and consist of:
Safety and Health Committees. There shall be Safety and Health Committees to cover all full-time and part-time employees. There shall be one (1) committee per Center unless the number of employees and/or job classifications within a center dictate the establishment of more than one (1) com- mittee. The respective committees will be comprised of a mutually agreed to number of bargaining unit representatives and up to an equal number of management representatives. Recognizing the importance of the role of the Safety and Health Committees in resolving the issues of safety, the Employer and the Union reaffirm their commitment to the active involvement of the Committees in such processes, in accordance with the terms of this Article. The Local Union shall approve the bargaining unit members who serve on these Committees. The Union co-chair of the commit- tee(s) shall be selected by the bargaining unit members of the com- mittee. In the event that a Local Union desires to cease participation in the safety committees, prior approval must be authorized by the Union Co-Chair of the Teamsters United Parcel Service National Negotiating Committee who shall also inform the Employer’s Pres- ident of Labor Relations of the request. Both parties recognize and reaffirm the importance of maintaining properly functioning Safety and Health Committees and shall make a good faith effort to work out any differences prior to requesting authorization to cease participation. Bargaining unit members may not perform Safety Committee ob- servations or access personnel records of fellow bargaining unit members that can be interpreted as being a management role. Safe- ty Committee observations shall only be performed to further the purposes of that Committee as defined in this section and to pro- xxxx a safer work environment. Activities will be reviewed with the Local Union. Under no circumstances can the results of a Safe- ty Committee observation be used in any level of discipline, nor reference any individual bargaining unit member. Each committee shall meet at least once each month at a mutually agreeable time and place. The Employer shall provide committee members with adequate time to perform committee functions, as described in paragraphs 1 through 7 below. Each committee shall perform functions including, but not limited to:
1. Creating sub-committees, on an as needed basis, to investigate specific issues of safety and health concern. These committees shall report to the full committee.

Safety and Health Committees. A. The Parties may establish, through negotiations, local Safety and Health Committees to review local health and safety programs and formulate recommendations regarding ongoing problems and useful improvements. If such committees exist, the union will be afforded the opportunity to fully participate as representatives of the bargaining unit on such committees and any subgroups. The following arrangements may be negotiated:
1. Size and composition of the committee.
2. Frequency and scheduling of committee meetings.
3. Publicizing of meetings and distribution or posting of agendas.
4. Local safety award programs.
B. Further details may be negotiated by the Local parties.
C. In the absence of a local Safety and Health Committee, the Union will be provided safety policy documents to review prior to Management approval.
Safety and Health Committees a) Occupational Safety and Health Committees will be established, maintained and consist of one (1) Management and one (1) Bargaining Unit member.
b) The Committee will meet at least every three (3) months to consider all matters pertaining to Occupational Safety and Health and effectively recommend ways and means of improving and maintaining the safety standards and safe working procedures for the purpose of preventing occupational injury and illness.
c) The Committee members shall meet locally and inspect the physical condition of the Xxxxx plant in accordance with the requirements of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Ontario.
d) The Committee will regularly study and effectively be guided by any applicable Safety and Health Legislation, relative to the mutual obligations and responsibilities to the Company and its employees and to provide safe and efficient service to the General Public, specifically:
i. Identifying situations that may be a source of danger or hazard to employees;
ii. Making constructive recommendations to the Supervisor to improve Safety Standards and Procedures, including the establishment, maintenance and monitoring of programs, measures and procedures respecting the Occupational Safety and Health of Bargaining Unit employees;
iii. Identifying potential or existing hazards of materials, processes or equipment;
iv. Internal review of Occupational Safety and Health Standards and experience relative to W.S.I.B. activity within the Company and other gas utilities, where applicable;
v. Maintain, post and distribute the Committee members minutes approved by the local Occupational Safety and Health Committee which shall reflect all matters considered by the Committee.
vi. Designating one (1) Union employee as a Safety and Health Committee member, to investigate cases where a member of the Bargaining Unit is killed or critically injured in the performance of his/her Company duties.
e) The Company shall maintain all reasonable and necessary precautions for the Occupational Safety and Health of its employees and continue the following practices:
i. Providing and maintaining certain equipment and devices for use to protect employees from known hazardous conditions which may exist from time to time.
ii. Providing a training program to insure safe involvement when utilizing the equipment and devices referred to in (i);
iii. Providing first aid treatment supplies;
iv. Payment of lost time basic wages (if any) for duly designated safety repre...
Safety and Health Committees. .01 While the question of safety is of paramount importance to all personnel, Supervisors are specifically charged with the duty of initiating and monitoring all practices necessary to ensure the safety and health of employees as well as ensuring the safety of all equipment.
.02 Supervisors must be especially vigilant regarding both unsafe work habits of employees and work conditions and are required to act on any report by an employee of an unsafe work habit or condition.
.03 An employee who observes an unsafe condition or act that he/she cannot personally correct shall notify his/her Supervisor or refer it to his/her Xxxxxxx who will advise the Supervisor. Where the employee or the Xxxxxxx is not satisfied that the Supervisor has in a reasonable period of time effectively dealt with the situation, the matter shall be referred to the appropriate Safety and Health Committee.
.04 Where the Company has, in accordance with the code, authorized the establishment of a Committee, it shall consist of a number of employees who exercise managerial functions and a number who do not; at least half of the members must be employees who do not exercise managerial functions and have been selected by the Union.
