Leave of Absence for Personal ReasonsIf an employee is confronted with a situation of unusual circumstances, a request for a leave of absence without salary for personal reasons will be considered by the university. The maximum number of days available for such a leave is thirty (30) days in a fiscal year. A request for such a leave must be submitted in writing to the administrative supervisor or department head concerned. Such leave request shall not be unreasonably denied.
Leave of Absence for Personal Reasons. Should an employee not be eligible for a Family and Medical Leave, a Leave of Absence for Personal Reasons may be requested in up to one-semester increments and must be approved by the appropriate supervisor and College President/Vice Chancellor with concurrence of the Chief Human Resources Officer, or XXXX’s designee. Accumulation of accrued time will continue while the employee remains in a paid status. Accumulation of accrued time will cease when the employee goes into an unpaid status but previously accrued benefits will be held for the employee. An employee who is granted an approved leave under this section will return to the position which he/she left. Failure to return from an approved Leave of Absence for Personal Reasons will result in automatic termination. If known in advance, an employee may request a Leave of Absence for Personal Reasons longer than one semester with approval from the supervisor and College President/Vice Chancellor with concurrence from the Chief Human Resources Officer, or CHRO’s designee. A Leave of Absence for Personal Reasons will have a cap of two semesters. The supervisor, College President/Vice Chancellor, and the Chief Human Resources Officer, or designee, may grant exceptions for extenuating circumstances.
Leave of Absence for Personal Reasons. 16.1 An employee may apply for a leave of absence for personal reasons giving the employer at least fifteen (15) days written notice except in the case of any emergency. The Employer agrees to give reasonable consideration to such requests and to grant same in accordance with the needs of its operations and the demands of its business. Leaves may be granted for up to three (3) months. A leave of absence may be extended in writing by the Company upon application in writing from the employee, provided such application is received at least five (5) calendar days prior to the expiration of the leave of absence. Employees who are granted extended vacation; seniority shall not accumulate if leave of absence is beyond 60 calendar days. 16.2 An application by an employee or the Union for a leave of absence and replies by the Employer shall be in writing except for a leave of absence for one (1) day or less may be given verbally by the Supervisor. 16.3 When an employee returns from leave of absence, they shall return to their scheduled run as at time of leave of absence granted. When an employee returns from leave of absence and their run has been deleted, they shall be so informed by the Employer. The employee shall have the option of taking any new or open run in accordance to Article 10 and 13.4. If there are no new or open runs available then they shall have the option of displacing the most junior driver. 16.4 Employees on Leave of Absence from their regular school runs a.m. and p.m. will not be allowed to work the Charter Board until they return to their regular a.m. and p.m. school runs. 16.5 Employees may apply for leave of absence for medical reasons accompanied with a doctor’s note. The Employer may request additional medical information. No medical leave of absence will be unreasonably denied. 16.6 Employees on leave of absence due to sickness will be allowed within 48 hours of return to work to any new or open route in accordance to Article 10 and 13.
Leave of Absence for Personal Reasons. When leave of absence is requested for personal reasons, such leave will be considered by the Company, taking into consideration the employee’s reasons for such leave, the seniority of the employee, and the production requirements of the Company. Wherever possible, such leave will be granted.

If a teacher accepts other employment during the period of approved leave of absence, such action shall be considered a just cause for discharge. Provisions of this article are not to encompass grants-in-aide, fellowships, assistantships, etc., or employment required for proper livelihood during such study periods. 6. At the discretion of the Board, a teacher may be required to pass a physical examination prior to return from an approved medical leave of absence. 7. An approved leave of absence does not guarantee an employee the same position when his/her leave expires, but he/she shall resume the contract status he/she enjoyed at the start of his/her leave. 8. This is not to be construed as covering the Association, OEA, or NEA activities although a teacher being duly elected to an office in the foregoing that necessitates a leave of absence may at the option of the Board be granted such leave not to exceed twelve (12) months. It is mutually agreed that this leave of absence will be extended only in those instances when it will not interfere with the educational process or increase costs to the Woodmore School System.
Leave of Absence for Personal Reasons. (a) When making a request, Employees must indicate a reason for the leave. (b) An employee may be granted leave of absence without pay for personal reasons, provided that such leave may be granted without undue inconvenience to the normal operations of the Home. Except in emergencies, written application for leave of absence must be made at least six (6) weeks in advance of such leave. (c) The Employer agrees to continue all benefits as provided for in Article 20 for one (1) month from the date the leave begins. Thereafter, subject to any restrictions, prohibitions, etc. of the insurance carrier, the employee may continue on with the benefits provided they pay one hundred percent (100%) of the premiums for such benefits. The employee must remit such payments by the tenth day of each month. (d) An employee on an unpaid personal leave of absence shall accumulate seniority for one (1) month from the date the leave begins. Thereafter, seniority will be frozen and not accumulated, and their seniority date shall be adjusted accordingly on the seniority list upon their return to work. (e) Leaves of Absence in excess of thirty (30) continuous calendar days will not count towards the time periods related to the discipline of resident abuse only.

Applications for such leave of absence shall be made by the Union in writing at least two (2) weeks prior to the requested leave. Stewards on such leave will be maintained on applicable benefit plans.
