Emergency/Personal Business Leave. Up to four (4) days leave without salary deduction shall be granted by the building principal upon written notification by the Unit I member that such leave is necessary to take care of emergency or personal business matters which cannot be handled outside of duty hours. Unit I members with at least one (1) unused personal day remaining at the end of the school year will have one (1) day rolled over to the next year’s allotment, so as no member will have more than five (5) days of personal leave available in one school year. Any remaining emergency/personal business leave unused at the end of each school year will accumulate as sick leave upon the employee’s return to work at the beginning of the next school year. The required written notice shall be provided at least two (2) working days prior to the time of the leave except when unusual emergency matters preclude doing so. The Unit I member may be required to state a specific reason for taking such leave only when there is reasonable cause to believe that the benefit is being abused and will be required to state a specific reason for taking such leave when requesting to use five (5) consecutive days of such leave.
Emergency/Personal Business Leave. Employees employed on a regularly scheduled basis shall be entitled to emergency leave of three (3) days per work year without loss of pay. Emergency leaves may be used:
a. In the case of unanticipated circumstances beyond the employee’s control and for which prior planning cannot be made; or
b. For attending to matters which cannot be scheduled outside the employee’s work hours and for which the personal attention of the employee is required. In such cases, a request indicating the reason for the leave must be made to the responsible administrator at least twenty-four (24) hours in advance. Such leaves shall not be used for recreation, other employment, union or political activities, or to extend other leave categories as provided by this Agreement, unless on an approved FMLA or OFLA leave, leave for a qualifying purpose under ORS 653.616, or when mutually agreed upon by the Federation and the District.
Emergency/Personal Business Leave. Employees employed on a regularly scheduled basis shall be entitled to three (3) days leave per work year without loss of pay under the following circumstances:
a. In the case of unanticipated circumstances beyond the employee’s control and for which prior planning cannot be made; or,
b. For attending to matters which cannot be scheduled outside the employee’s work hours and for which the personal attention of the employee is required. In such cases, a request indicating the reason for the leave must be made to the responsible administrator at least twenty-four (24) hours in advance. Such leaves shall not be used for recreation, other employment, union or political activities, or to extend other leave categories as provided by this Agreement, unless on an approved Federal Family and Medical Leave (FMLA) or Oregon Family Leave (OFLA).
Emergency/Personal Business Leave. Employees shall be entitled up to three (3) days’ leave per work year without loss of pay under the following circumstances:
Emergency/Personal Business Leave. 6.3.1 Teachers will be granted three (3) Emergency-Personal Business Leave days per year. The request for such leave must be submitted to the Superintendent on the District Emergency-Personal Business Leave form at least two (2) days in advance.
6.3.2 In cases where two (2) days' advance notice is not possible, the Super- intendent will waive the notice requirement provided the teacher will:
1. Contact the Superintendent in person, by telephone, in writing, by electronic voice mail, or by e-mail prior to commencing the leave to explain why two (2) days' advance notice was not possible; and
2. Telephone the Absence Line to report the absence and, if necessary, request a substitute; and
3. Within two (2) school days of return to work, submit Emergency- Personal Business Leave Request and Employee Absence Report.
6.3.3 Emergency-Personal Business Leave, with pay, will be granted to teachers for valid reasons that are not already included in sick leave. Valid reasons for Emergency-Personal Business Leave will include court appearances (except for suits brought against the Board), personal legal business that cannot be conducted at any other time than during school hours on days when school is in session, major holidays of the teacher's religion, attendance at funerals not covered by sick leave, family obligations a teacher cannot meet outside the regular school day, an emergency over which he/she has no control which requires immediate attention and may also include, at the discretion of the Superintendent, other personal affairs over which the individual has no control.

Emergency/Personal Business Leave. 1. Each year two (2) days shall be granted for the purpose of conducting personal business which cannot normally be carried on before or after work hours or on weekends. Probationary employees shall be ineligible for accrual or use of personal business leave.
2. Notification of desire to take a personal business leave day shall be filed in writing with the employee's immediate supervisor at least forty-eight (48) hours in advance of the beginning of the leave day, except in cases of emergency when shorter notice is acceptable. The leave request shall include the signature of the employee. In so signing, the employee is providing written testimony that the request for leave complies with the terms of this Agreement. All unused personal days at the end of each year shall be added to sick leave.
3. Personal business leave shall not be used for recreation, engaging in other work, or for vacation. Such days shall not be taken immediately before or after a school holiday, vacation or recess period.
4. Personal leave for drivers having either a PPI or ISD route shall use personal leave in 1/3 or full day increments.

3. Employee shall be allowed to carry over one (1) personal day to a total of three (3) to the next school year. If any personal days remain at the end of the year, employee shall inform Immediate Supervisor (via proper form) as to what days shall be carried forward as personal to the next school year, and which ones roll into sick leave. This form needs to be filled out and turn in no later than the end of the day (3:30) the last day of school with students. If no response is received by this time all personal days will be automatically rolled into sick leave.
4. Personal business leave shall not be taken immediately before or after a school holiday, vacation or recess period.
5. Personal leave for drivers having either a ECSE or Career Center route shall use personal leave in 1/3 or full day increments.
