Emergency School Closings. 10.01 All schools and school offices in the school system will be open on all regularly scheduled days unless closed by the Superintendent because of an emergency.
10.02 When an emergency confronts the schools, notification of the closing of schools will be released for broadcast over all local radio and TV stations as soon as possible. In the event schools are closed due to severe inclement weather or other acts of nature, employees assigned to the schools need not report to work.
10.03 When the number of students unable to reach a school is so great that the instructional program is severely impaired, that school may be closed. Employees affected will be personally notified as soon as possible prior to the beginning of the school day as to whether they are to report to duty and, if so, where and when to report. The Board shall designate radio stations that will be utilized in the employee notification process. If employees are notified that they should not report, said employees’ annual compensation will remain the same if the affected workdays can be rescheduled. All scheduled employees’ workdays so affected shall be rescheduled by the Superintendent as soon as possible.

b. If the conditions require closing during the school day, teachers shall be dismissed as soon as possible after students are dismissed.
8-11-2 When weather conditions are such that schools will be open, but some professional staff or students are not able to attend because of the severity of conditions in their locale, the following procedure shall be followed:

b. Professional staff who cannot attend school because of weather conditions or other emergencies will have deducted from their personal leave, if available, or sick leave if personal leave is not available, the day or days they were unable to attend their assignment. All teacher absences under this Article are subject to review by the school building level administrator.
Emergency School Closings. Whenever scheduled school is canceled due to acts of God, employees shall not be required to report for work or to remain at work after school premises have been cleared of students. Emergency School Closings. (1) If schools are closed for reasons beyond the control of the BOARD and unless otherwise notified, food service, transportation and custodial employees shall not report to work but will be compensated at their daily rate of pay. If otherwise notified to report for work they will be given compensatory time off with pay at the discretion of the appropriate supervisor. However, if the BOARD is required by state law to make up any of the lost days, payment for days lost will be considered pay in advance for less than 52 week personnel who shall report for work on the make up days with no additional compensation paid.
(2) However, if schools are closed due to conditions beyond the control of the BOARD, the warehouseman, head custodians and maintenance employees shall report to work and will be compensated at their daily rate of pay. They will also be given compensatory time off with pay at the discretion of the appropriate supervisor. If they are unable to report to work, they shall be paid at their daily rate of pay.
(3) In the event that the Superintendent determines that all District Staff (except LSFSS) are to report to work, it is agreed that (1) and (2) as stated above will not apply. On such days there will be no additional direct or indirect compensation.
