The EMPLOYEE APPOINTMENTS clause defines the process and conditions under which individuals are hired or assigned to specific roles within an organization. Employee Appointments. Where medical and/or dental appointments cannot be scheduled outside the employee’s working hours, sick leave with pay shall be granted up to the extent of sick leave credits in the employee’s bank. Also see Article 51 – Special Leave (point number 7).
Employee Appointments a. At the time of employment and appointment, the employee and the College will acknowledge on a hiring form amongst other things:
i) The position for which the employee is hired;
ii) The starting date of the employment of the employee;
iii) Term of appointment or whether the term is definite or indefinite;
iv) The regular scheduled hours and days to be worked per week;
v) Subject to the provisions of Article 13 (Hours of Work), whether or not week-end work and/or rotating shift work will be a requirement of the hiring, in which event the College will attempt to stipulate when the week- end and/or rotating shift work required will commence.
vi) The minimum guaranteed hours for part-time employees whose hours may fluctuate and when layoff would occur.
b. The hiring form above described will be used for determining the category of employment for the purpose of this Agreement.
Employee Appointments. (a) Employees appointed to a new classification within the District shall have a period of ten (10) working days to elect to return to their previous classification and wage rate.
(b) Regular employees who are appointed to fill vacancies shall be placed on probation/initial orientation in the new position for a period of three (3) months. At any time during this period either the employee or the District may terminate the appointment. Employees in a probationary/initial orientation status are ineligible to bid other vacancies.

30.1. a. Temporary faculty shall become part of Bargaining Unit B after one year of full-time employment or after two consecutive years of at least half-time employment at the University, and shall thereafter be designated as Associate Faculty.
Employee Appointments. Limitations on Seniority
(a) In exercising seniority rights on contracts for which they are qualified, Type C and Type D employees who subsequently receive a Type A appointment will carry their accrued seniority. Such accrued seniority will then be recognized for all purposes of this Agreement relative to his or her Type A appointment.
(b) In exercising seniority rights on contracts for which they are qualified, limited term and sessional faculty can exercise only departmental seniority. Limited term and sessional faculty employees who subsequently receive a Type B appointment will carry 80% of their accrued seniority to their new appointment. Effective January 1, 2016, limited term and sessional faculty employees who subsequently receive a Type B appointment will carry 100% of their accrued seniority to their new appointment. Such accrued university seniority will then be recognized for all purposes of this Agreement relative to his or her Type B appointment.

(a) In exercising seniority rights on contracts for which they are qualified, Type C, Type D employees and Sessionals can exercise only departmental seniority; (i.e.) can exercise only the seniority accrued in that department.
(b) Employees who subsequently receive a Type A or Type B appointment will carry 80% of their accrued seniority. The accumulated seniority of such employees shall not, however, be allowed to exceed the seniority of an existing Type B faculty member of the department, or an existing Type A staff member currently working in his or her department who holds a position at an equivalent or lower pay group. This change will be implemented on the later of the date of ratification of the collective agreement or April 1, 2011.

Employee Appointments a) At the time of employment and appointment, the employee and the College shall acknowledge, through the completion by the College and acceptance by the employee of a Personnel Hiring Form, the following: - relevant date of commencement - duration of appointment - approved work day and work week - pay group - position (where applicable) - employee category.
b) At the time of hiring, the College shall indicate if weekend work may become a requirement of the hire.
c) A copy of the completed Personnel Hiring Form shall be provided to the Union and to the employee within seven (7) calendar days of employment, appointment or any change to the conditions listed at Article 9.09 a).
