Extra-Curricular Stipends. A. The extra duty stipends listed in this article are for carrying out the duties and responsibilities that are not generally associated with regular teaching assignments. Members may accept assignments under the extended responsibility program.
Extra-Curricular Stipends. General Statements
25.01 Job descriptions for all athletic department positions will be developed by the Athletic Director and the designated building administrator. Job descriptions for all other extra-duty positions (non-athletic) will be developed by the designated building administrator. The job description will be provided to the applicant at the time of the interview.
25.02 Compensation for extra-duty contracts will be set according to the base salary in effect at the beginning of the contract year and will not be changed during the contract year.
25.03 The process for adding or changing -- not filling -- extra duty assignments will be as follows:
A. The Athletic Director will propose changes to the Athletic Board which may recommend the proposed changes to the Board of Education.
B. All other extra-duty recommendations for change shall go to the building principal.
C. If approved, the Board shall negotiate stipend percentages.
25.04 The following schedule of stipends must be followed except under the following conditions:
A. Creation of a new position
B. Combining of position
C. Significant changes and responsibilities of a position
25.05 No other exceptions may be made unless the negotiating committee for the Association concurs.
Extra-Curricular Stipends. Just cause does not apply to any Schedule B positions.
Extra-Curricular Stipends. If all qualifications are equal, a unit member will be appointed to an extracurricular position over an external candidate. The parties agree that the Committee need not operate athletic or extra-curricular programs and may discontinue same in whole or in part. Extra-Curricular Stipends. Both the employees and the Board of Education recognize the importance of the involvement of the faculty and support staff in all aspects of the school program and activities. Extra-curricular appointments will be made by the Board of Education on the recommendation of the Superintendent/Designee and compensation will be as follows. Extra-Curricular Stipends. Athletic Event Supervisor Stipends Season/Building Level Fall Winter Spring High School $2,500 $1,200 $1,000 B. A stipend of $600 will be provided to each high school for the combined position of Freshman/Sophomore Class Advisor. Position may be separated for ½ stipend.
Extra-Curricular Stipends. The Board will only issue payment for extra-curricular duties, clubs and activities that actually occur during the 2020-2021 school year. All extra-curricular duties, clubs and activities will be held synchronously or remotely while the District’s educational program is implemented in a remote manner. Licensed teachers may submit proposals to offer synchronous, remote alternate activities in lieu of interscholastic sports or any other activity that cannot be offered during remote learning. All submissions will be considered for approval with an emphasis on engaging as many students as possible in the school community maintaining 6 feet social distance and/or in conformity with guidance provided by governmental agencies. Specific consideration will be given to members in their last four years of employment. For licensed teachers who have declared their intent to retire, the following will apply:
a. In the event that a licensed teacher who has declared his/her intent to retire is unable to complete an extra-curricular duty, club or activity in a remote manner, the teacher will submit and offer, if approved, alternate activities that can be offered synchronously and/or remotely to be paid at the same rate as the activity.
b. In the event the teacher who has declared his/her intent to retire is unable to complete the assignment because of a decision of the Board, the teacher and the Administration will work to identify alternative duties to be completed in order to secure payment of the amount of creditable earnings originally contemplated to be earned as part of the teacher’s District retirement formula. If the duty available creates a safety concern and the teacher has doctor’s verification an alternative activity will be decided upon.
Extra-Curricular Stipends. 1. Extra-Curricular stipends shall be subject to the conditions described in this section.
2. When a stipend position is being created, the person responsible for creating the position will write, or cause to be written a job description which contains the following items:
a. The title of the position.
b. The purpose, responsibilities, and basic duties of the position.
c. The estimated number of hours to be spent each year engaged in position work.
3. Compensation for extra-curricular stipends shall be based on the curriculum rate.
4. There are two categories of extra-curricular stipends:
a. On-going or district level positions: These positions are listed in Appendix F, Part 1, and shall be compensated for the number of hours listed.
b. Positions determined at the school level on a yearly basis: These positions include, but are not limited to any of the positions listed in Appendix F, Part 2.
i. Each school will be allocated $2.00 per FTE student as of the October student count, per academic year to be used to pay building-level stipends.
Ii. The principal, in consultation with the staff shall determine how and for what purposes this stipend money will be allocated. The superintendent or assistant superintendent will oversee the process to assure that it is effective and meets the stipulations spelled out in this contract.
5. Duties or responsibilities above and beyond those in the job description of a stipend position may result in additional compensation. In these instances individuals wishing to be paid for additional work will submit a written estimate of the time required to the person overseeing the position for pre-approval. Additional compensation will be paid at the curriculum rate.
Extra-Curricular Stipends. The extra curricular guide is annexed hereto and made part hereof and marked schedule "D." Extra curricular salary will be paid upon certification by the Assistant Principal that the duties have been performed. One half (1/2) salary may be paid at the end of each semester or at the conclusion of an activity where applicable.
Extra-Curricular Stipends. 1. In preparing the extra-curricular pay index, attached, consideration is given to:
a. hours involved.
b. number of students in the activity.
c. pressures that are inherent.
d. risk of bodily injury.
e. portion of time taken from weekends and/or vacations.
f. responsibility for equipment and/or finances.
g. professional training as a prerequisite for the assignment.
2. Any new activity to be included in the future must meet the same criteria as those already established and be compensated according to the same standards.
