Earned Leave. The nurse shall receive Earned Leave (EL) accrual and rates of 26 pay in accordance with contractual requirements or HR policy applicable only to the 27 nurse’s primary job class for all hours compensated. This application is without regard to 28 bargaining unit or non-bargaining unit status of hours worked or compensated. A nurse 29 holding positions of approximately equal hours both in and out of the bargaining unit shall, 30 at the nurse’s discretion and at the time of acceptance of a secondary job class, declare 31 which position shall be considered the nurse’s primary job class. This declaration shall 32 determine the applicable EL accrual rate and pay benefit the nurse shall receive, and
Earned Leave. 3 Section 1. Earned leave (EL) is time earned for paid time off which shall be used 4 to replace scheduled hours. Such earned leave is in lieu of vacation, sick leave and 5 holidays. Because the use of earned leave is meant to offset a nurse’s scheduled hours, 6 the use of earned leave (other than cash-out) cannot cause the nurse to exceed their 7 scheduled hours, or eighty (80) hours per pay period (seventy-one (71) hours for part- 8 time employees), whichever is less. 10 A nurse may not drop below minimum hours required for the nurse’s current full- 11 time or part-time employment status. Therefore, a nurse must use earned leave each 12 pay period to cover absences from scheduled shifts (shifts that appear on the monthly 13 schedule, including traded shifts, but not including call shifts). 15 Earned leave may be used only if the nurse (1) has accrued sufficient leave 16 according to the accrual rates described below, and (2) (a) has advance permission 17 from his/her manager to use the earned leave on the requested day(s), or (b) is forced 18 to miss work due to an illness or injury or protected leave of absence.
Earned Leave. (1) When the employment of an employee who has been granted more vacation, sick leave or special leave with pay than he has earned dies the employee shall be considered to have earned that amount of leave with pay granted to him.
(2) When the employment of an employee who has been granted more vacation, sick leave or Special leave with pay than he has earned is laid off, the employee shall be considered to have earned that amount of leave with pay granted to him.

Teachers who have taken no sick days in a school year will be credited with two (2) earned leave days in the following school year only, which may be used under the same conditions as above. Earned Leave. 1. General - Earned Leave is the Hospital’s method of providing scheduled paid time off for eligible employees to meet their need for absence from work. Earned leave is a consolidation of, Sick Leaves, Holidays, and Vacation.
Earned Leave. A. Nonexempt Staff Employees – Regular full-time Nonexempt Staff employees will earn annual leave on a biweekly basis according to the following schedule.
1. Beginning with the Date of Employment through completion of the 1st year: 11 days
2. Beginning with the 2nd year through completion of the 2nd year: 12 days
3. Beginning with the 3rd year through completion of the 3rd year: 13 days
4. Beginning with the 4th year through completion of the 4th year: 14 days
5. Beginning with the 5th year through completion of the 10th year: 15 days
6. Beginning with the 11th year through completion of the 20th year: 20 days
7. Beginning with the 21st year and thereafter: 25 days B. Exempt Staff employees – Regular full-time Exempt Staff employees earn 22 days of annual leave per year, accumulated on a biweekly basis. Beginning with the 21st year of employment, annual leave shall be earned at the rate of 25 days per calendar year.

Earned Leave a. At the beginning of the school year, each teacher shall be credited with earned leave allowance of 10 days per year.
b. This leave may be used for illness, personal or business reasons. Employees shall provide notice to the Human Resources Office of any earned leave time qualifying under the Family Medical and Leave Act.
c. Part-time teachers shall be credited with earned leave allowance according to the percentage of full-time being worked.
d. Any teacher who resigns or is terminated during the school year shall have earned leave deducted from his/her accumulation at the ratio of days not worked. The teacher’s salary shall be adjusted to compensate for any earned leave days taken in excess of those accumulated.
e. A teacher planning to use an earned leave day for personal or business reasons shall notify his/her principal as soon as possible and not less than three (3) work days in advance. This does not apply to cases of unanticipated illness or emergencies or circumstances beyond the teacher’s control. Approval by the Superintendent is required for any absence on the day prior to or the day after a holiday or break period.
f. The Xxxxxx School District will not grant earned leave for personal/business purposes for more than ten percent (10%) of the certificated staff on any given day at any given building or ten percent (10%) on the District level unless such earned leave is protected by the Family Medical and Leave Act. For purposes of administering this section, those employees utilizing Family Medical and Leave Act time will be granted earned leave before those employees requesting time for non-qualifying personal or business reasons. g. In the first event that it can be shown that the teacher willfully violated or misused this earned leave policy or misrepresented any statement of condition under this policy, he/she may be subject to verbal reprimand.
h. If it is found that the teacher continues to violate the use of such leave after he/she has been reprimanded, the Administration may take appropriate action under the tenure laws of the State of Arizona.
