Ringworm is generally, but not always, ring shaped. It is a contagious fungus infection that is spread by direct skin-to-skin contact with an infected person or pets, or by contact with contaminated items such as xxxxx, hats, unwashed clothes, and shower floors. If it appears that your child has ringworm they will be sent home due to its being contagious. After treatment begins, students are not considered contagious and may return to school. Please contact your physician for further information. Conjunctivitis or “Pink Ey e” Conjunctivitis, or pink eye, is fairly common. It is an inflammation of the eyes. Only bacterial and viral Conjunctivitis are contagious; they may be spread from person to person by direct contact with the discharge from the eyes. The only way to know for certain whether your child’s eye infection is of this highly contagious variety is to have your child seen by a health care provider. Due to the highly contagious nature of some types of Conjunctivitis, students exhibiting symptoms will be sent home. Head Lice Policy. The Governing Board recognizes that head lice infestations among students require treatment but do not pose a risk of transmitting disease. The Superintendent or designee shall encourage early detection and treatment in a manner that minimizes disruption to the educational program and reduces student absences. The Superintendent or designee may distribute information to parents/guardians of preschool and elementary students regarding routine screening, symptoms, accurate diagnosis, and proper treatment of head lice infestations. The Superintendent or designee also may provide related information to school staff. School employees shall report all suspected cases of head lice to the school nurse or designee as soon as possible. If a student is found with active, adult head lice, he/she shall be allowed to stay in school until the end of the school day. The parent/guardian of any such student shall be given information about the treatment of head lice and encouraged to begin treatment of the student immediately and to check all members of the family. The parent/guardian also shall be informed that the student shall be checked upon return to school the next day and allowed to remain in school if no active head lice are detected. Upon the student's return to school, the school nurse or designee shall check the student for active head lice. If it is determined that the student remains infected with head lice, the school nurse or designee shall contact the student's parent/guardian to discuss treatment. As needed, he/she may provide additional resources and/or referral to the local health department, health care providers, or other agencies. When it is determined that a student in a class or school has been infested with head lice, the principal or designee shall notify parents/guardians of students in that class or school and provide them with information about the detection and treatment of head lice. Staff shall maintain the privacy of students identified as having head lice.

Students are not allowed to have prescription or over the counter drugs in their possession at school. These can cause a serious danger to the student or other students if misused or lost at school. Only Doctor prescribed medications accompanied with the Request for Medical Procedure at School form is to be dispensed from the office. Inhalers and Epi-Pens are kept in the office. Students who are on daily medication, should be administered the first dose by parents at home before coming to school. Students may not take any medication unless it is prescribed by a physician, nor may a student give any such medication to another. Medications should be given at home whenever possible. School personnel can dispense medication to students only if all the following conditions are met: ● A serious health need such as a chronic illness or when failure to take it could jeopardize the student’s health. ● A written prescription as required by law from your doctor or dentist for all medication given at school including all over the counter medications such as aspirin or cough syrups. ● Prescription medication must be in the original container with the student’s name, name of medication, dosage, time, and date of the doctor’s written order. Over the counter medicine such as cough drops, cough syrups, Benadryl, Tylenol, Advil/Motrin, antacids, Neosporin, hydrocortisone cream, hydrogen peroxide, etc. must also be in the original container. Head Lice Policy. After a parent/guardian or NCP staff member notifies the office of a child’s exposure to head lice, the following procedures will take place: Day OneThe child exposed to head lice and/or nits is sent home (along with the county information papers regarding head lice treatment). ● An immediate general head lice check of all NCP Staff and students is performed. ● All helmets, carpets, stuffed toys, bedding, pillow cases are disinfected in all buildings. Day Two ● A follow-up head lice check of the exposed child before entrance into a classroom. ● NCP has a no-nit policy. Head Lice Policy. If a Student is found to be infested with head lice, or to have nits, they will be sent home for treatment and a notification letter will be transmitted to the Parent. The Student’s Sending School shall be notified immediately. The Student shall not be readmitted to OSTC until the Student/Parent can show proof, acceptable to the Superintendent, of an approved treatment. The Student must remain nit-free upon inspection at OSTC. If the Student is found to still have nits after returning to OSTC, the Parent will be notified and the Student will be sent home for nit removal. Communicable Diseases The District is committed to providing educational services in a safe and healthy environment. The identification, management and reporting of disease in the public school setting is required for the safety and welfare of Students and Employees, while also recognizing the rights and needs of the Employee or Student. Whenever a physician has diagnosed an Employee or Student as having a communicable disease, the Employee or Student is expected to voluntarily report the diagnosis and nature of the disease to the Public Health Nurse Consultant. An Employee or Student with a communicable disease that is deemed a threat to public health by the Oakland County Health Division may be required to withdraw from active employment or OSTC for the duration of the illness in order to give maximum health protection to other Employees and Students. A Student or Employee with a communicable disease will be restricted only to the extent necessary to prevent the transmission of the disease, protect the person’s health and privacy rights, and protect the health and safety of others. All Employees shall maintain the strictest confidence of an individual’s status to the extent permitted without compromising the health and safety of other individuals. An Employee or Student with a communicable disease has all rights, privileges and services as provided by law and District policies. A decision to close a District facility due to communicable disease outbreaks is at the discretion of the Superintendent. For more information please refer to Policy 5370 – Communicable Diseases.

  • Insurance Policies Insurance required herein shall be by companies duly licensed or admitted to transact business in the state where the Premises are located, and maintaining during the policy term a "General Policyholders Rating" of at least B+, V, as set forth in the most current issue of "Best's Insurance Guide", or such other rating as may be required by a Lender. Lessee shall not do or permit to be done anything which invalidates the required insurance policies. Lessee shall, prior to the Start Date, deliver to Lessor certified copies of policies of such insurance or certificates evidencing the existence and amounts of the required insurance. Such policies shall be for a term of at least one year, or the length of the remaining term of this Lease, whichever is less. If either Party shall fail to procure and maintain the insurance required to be carried by it, the other Party may, but shall not be required to, procure and maintain the same.

  • Grievance Policy While Acacia University endeavors to maintain a congenial and responsive atmosphere for its students conducive with its educational purposes, it recognizes that from time to time, misunderstandings and disagreements may arise during the course of a student’s enrollment. In response to this situation, Acacia University has established procedures to resolve problems and ensure fair adjudication of student rights. Informal Procedures Initially, disagreements, complaints, misunderstandings, and grievances can be resolved by the University by using informal discussion, exchanges, persuasion, and other informal procedures. It is the intent of this policy to maximize these informal procedures so long as such measures prove effective. The formal procedure provisions of this policy should be set in motion only when the informal procedures prove to be or manifestly will be ineffective. It is expected that the great majority of cases will continue to be handled in accordance with informal procedures. Complaint If a student feels that he or she has been treated unfairly or unjustly by an employee, online mentor, instructor, or professor with regard to an academic process such as grading, testing, or assignments, the student must submit a written statement of the grievance, including the allegation; all relevant names and dates, a brief description of the actions forming the basis of the complaint; and copies of any available documents or materials that support the allegations, to the Office of Student Affairs (xxxxxxxxxxxxxx@xxxxxx.xxx), who is the final authority on all academic matters. I will act as I expect others to act toward me: • I will respect others’ work and property and will not access, copy, remove or otherwise alter any other user’s files, without the owner’s knowledge and permission. • I will be polite and responsible when I communicate with others, I will not use strong, aggressive or inappropriate language and I appreciate that others may have different opinions. • I will not take or distribute images of anyone without their permission. I recognise that the school has a responsibility to maintain the security and integrity of the technology it offers me and to ensure the smooth running of the school: • I will only use my personal hand held / external devices (mobile phones / USB devices etc) in school if I have permission. I understand that, if I do use my own devices in school, I will follow the rules set out in this agreement, in the same way as if I was using school equipment. • I understand the risks and will not try to upload, download or access any materials which are illegal or inappropriate or may cause harm or distress to others, nor will I try to use any programmes or software that might allow me to bypass the filtering / security systems in place to prevent access to such materials.
