Head of Department. For each Department required by the Employer, the Company shall select a Department Head (or Key) from the Union’s membership roster. The Department Head will remain employed until the Department has wrapped. The Company, with the approval of the Department Head (or Key), shall select an appropriate number of crew from the Union’s membership roster. Each department will have, at a minimum, one Head at the applicable rate.
Head of Department. A Clinical Academic appointed as a Head of Department in a hospital shall have the same duties, obligations and allowance entitlements as are prescribed for Heads of Departments in the Medical Practitioners Industrial Agreement.
Head of Department. Tutor Teacher Time Allowance
2.14.1 Each school will receive an additional 0.04 FTTE for each full time year-one beginning teacher granted the year-one beginning teacher allowance as in clause 2.10.
2.14.2 The school shall allocate the equivalent of one hour non-teaching time per week to the person responsible for directly providing an advice, guidance and support programme to that beginning teacher. Schools have flexibility to decide how they allocate this time within or across weeks.
2.14.3 Time allowances shall aggregate where the individual is providing an advice, guidance and support programme to two or more beginning teachers who generate the time allowance.
2.14.4 Where more than one Head of Department or Tutor Teacher is responsible for providing an advice, guidance and support programme to the beginning teacher the time allowance shall be shared equitably.
2.14.5 If the advice, guidance and support programme is provided by a Head of Department or Tutor Teacher who is employed at another school, the employer of the beginning teacher shall transfer this time allowance to the employing school of the Head of Department or Tutor Teacher.
Head of Department. 28.1 It is the responsibility of the Head of Department (HoD), to generally coordinate and support the development of the specific area with which s/he is entrusted, across a number of schools, contributing as may be required, in National coordination of, and initiatives related to, the same field under the direction of MEDE. The HoD is expected to collaborate with other educators who may be supporting this endeavour within or beyond the classroom, under the pertinent leadership at the respective level, also by engaging in the development of a Community of Professional Educators, including through School Development Planning. The HoD Curriculum is responsible for a curricular area and the HoD (Inclusion) is responsible for inclusive educational provision: • The HoD Curriculum is required to fulfil the obligations of a teacher with all its related expectations, but within the agreed adjusted parameters, and to additionally serve as the curricular leader at the local level, specifically at School and College level, under the direction of the Head of School at school level and the Head of College Network at college level, whilst following National direction from the designated authority, typically through the Education Officer/s; • The HoD Inclusion is expected to act as the inclusive educational leader at the local level, specifically at School and College level, under the direction of the Head of School at school level and the Head of College Network at college level, whilst following National direction from the designated authority, typically through the Education Officer/s. The HoD Inclusion shall act as advisor to all Teaching Grades, but shall focus on the quality of support provided by LSEs.
28.2 The filling of vacancies in the grade of Head of Department (Curriculum)(Salary Scale 6) shall be by selection following a call for applications open to Public Officers:
a) in the grade of a Teacher in possession of a Permanent Teachers Warrant ; and
b) who have not less than ten (10) scholastic years teaching experience, three
Head of Department. Whenever a master sound technician (A1), master electrician, master xxxxxxxxx, head rigger video engineer (EIC), property master, head projectionist (P1), teleprompter, special effects head, webcast technician, network engineer, high resolution routing engineer, graphics operator, or head computer technician (C1) is required to set up a show by virtue of installing equipment, patching, cueing and performs said work during the show, that employee shall be paid at the head of department scale. The following shall also be classified as Head of Department:
1. When there is an event with three (3) or more camera operators, one (1) camera operator shall be paid as the head of department.
2. Front of House, sound and Lighting board operators in General Sessions.
3. When an A-2 audio technician installs and/or operates equipment that has a combined total of twelve (12) or more wireless frequencies (such as, but not limited to, wireless microphones, wireless intercom, in-ear monitors, IFB monitors) they shall be designated as head of department for the duration of the entire call.
4. Any employee contacted directly by the employer shall be listed on the call as “must be” and shall be compensated as a head of department.
5. Local 16 agrees that, when requested, technicians referred to employment as a Head Electrician (not as a board operator only) shall be certified through the Entertainment Technician Certification Program (ETCP). In the event that a facility or an employer requires that an ETCP certified technician be employed in specific positions, that technician shall receive a $2.00 per hour increase in their hourly wage
6. A projectionist shall be paid as a Head of Department when:
a. projectionist is used to converge projectors on one screen, or use LED wall and/or plasma wall systems;
b. there is a blended screen used with additional displays;
c. there are two (2) to eight (8) active projectors. There shall be additional Head for each succeeding eight (8) active projectors.
7. Whenever a power generator (with a rated output of over 100 amps and three phase capability) is used to power any element of an event staffed by local 16 technicians, there shall be a local 16 technician assigned as head of department to serve as generator operator. Head of Department. The Head of Department will be in the majority of cases a point of call alongside the Welfare Team for a teacher referring a student or requiring support or guidance on further intervention strategies for use with a student. Heads of Department must therefore: • Conduct regular reviews of ClassCharts data and identify patterns of behaviour for specific students, classes and teachers, including optimum clicks spreadsheet • Conduct Head of Department detentions, as part of the schools behaviour framework • Support teachers in their subject areas by offering guidance on management of student behaviour in line with school policy and as outlined in the national teacher standards • Liaise with the Support Team with regard to specific student issues and work with them to ensure that all students achieve to the best of their individual abilities • Implement agreed behaviour interventions within their subject for specific students where there are identified behaviour issues • Ensure that the reward policy is effectively implemented by all teachers in their department The classroom teacher is responsible for the teaching and learning in their classroom in conjunction with the behaviour frame work and classroom expectations, which are designed to develop an environment where each member of staff can strive to ensure that each student optimises his/her potential. In order for this to occur each teacher must be fully aware of the support and guidance available from all of their peers, managers and senior leaders set out in this policy.
