Joint Health and Safety. (a) The Region and the Association agree that they mutually desire to maintain standards of safety and health at Allendale, Post Inn Village, and Creek Way Village in order to prevent accidents, injury and illness.
(b) Recognizing its responsibilities under the applicable legislation, the Region agrees to accept as a member of its Joint Health and Safety Committee, one (1) representative selected or appointed by the Association from amongst bargaining unit Nurses at each location. The Association will endeavour to ensure that representation is provided.
(c) The Region shall abide by any time off and wage payment provisions required by the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
Joint Health and Safety. (a) The Employer will continue to make provision for the health and safety of its employees in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) and its regulations. The standards prescribed under legislation and regulations shall constitute minimum acceptable practice to be improved upon by agreement of the Joint Health and Safety Committees or as negotiated with the Union. Joint Health and Safety Committees shall be established and maintained in accordance with the OHSA and its regulations. Both parties will endeavour to appoint committee representatives that are interested in establishing and maintaining a safe and healthy work environment.
(b) The Employer and the Union jointly recognize the particular safety issues inherent in the provision of human services to some clients. All staff members are therefore encouraged to pro-actively identify safety risk situations to their supervisor so that steps may be taken to minimize risk. These steps may include pairing up of staff or police accompaniment.
(c) A Joint Health and Safety Committee shall be maintained and composed of a minimum of two (2) representatives appointed by the Employer and five (5) representatives appointed by the union as agreed by the Joint Health and Safety Committee and laid out in the Terms of Reference. The Joint Health and Safety Committee shall hold meetings quarterly and matters related to safety and health shall be dealt with at such meetings. Minutes of all Safety Committee meetings shall be kept and copies of such minutes shall be sent to the employer and to the union.
(d) The parties recognize that accommodation of employees under the Human Rights Code is an obligation of both the Employer and the Union and, accordingly, when an employee is unable to perform the essential functions of their job without accommodation, a meeting with the employee, up to three representatives of the Employer and up to three representatives of the Union shall be held to discuss possible accommodations which may be made without undue hardship. Such a committee shall assist, as necessary, with any return to work issues that arise following a leave of absence due to disability or illness.
45.1 The Employer shall comply with all applicable federal, provincial and municipal Health and Safety Legislation and Regulations.

Joint Health and Safety. (a) The Employer will employ sound theory and practices in its efforts to promote employee health and safety and will give thorough consideration to methods of operation, including the determination of relevant policy and procedures and core training, which support employee health and safety.
Joint Health and Safety. COMMITTEE A joint health and safety committee (JHSC) will be established and will consist of six members. Three members of the committee who represent workers will be selected by the Union. Three members of the Committee who exercise managerial functions will be selected by the Company. There shall be at least one representative from each shift. In the event that a JHSC member is absent, an alternate will be recognized as appointed by the applicable party. The JHSC will meet on a monthly basis, during regular working hours. The JHSC co-chairs will mutually decide the appropriate meeting times which may vary as to provide participation and visibility on all shifts. If circumstances make additional meetings necessary, they will be scheduled in a manner that is agreed to by the JHSC.
Joint Health and Safety. The Union’s Executive Board shall meet with the Chief periodically to discuss VOSHA requirements and opportunities to prevent or correct problems of health, safety and sanitation affecting employees in the performance of duty.

The Health and Safety Committee shall be composed of at least one (1) member of Management and one (1) bargaining unit employee elected or appointed by the Union. The Committee shall meet at least once every three (3) months. Minutes of the meetings shall be kept and shall be posted along with the names of the members of the Committee.
Joint Health and Safety. There shall be a Joint Health and Safety Committee for each geographic area (see Art. 1- definitions). Each Committee shall meet no less than once every per month and each committee shall be comprised of 2 persons selected by the Union and 2 persons selected by the Employer. The duties and functions of the Joint Committee shall be consistent with the applicable Regulations.
Joint Health and Safety. Committees (JHSC)
(a) The Employer shall maintain a series of Joint Health and Safety Committees (JHSC), including sub-committees, providing effective coverage for its workplaces and activities.
(b) JHSCs shall be constituted in accordance with CJHSC. The number and scope of committees shall be the subject of annual review by the CJHSC.
(c) JHSCs shall be as established by the CJHSC and listed on the EOHSS website, which will be updated monthly.
(d) JHSCs shall meet monthly or in accordance with their respective terms of reference.
(e) The Employer will provide copies of the minutes of all JHSC meetings to each member of the JHSC and EOHSS for distribution to the CJHSC.
(f) Any outstanding items that cannot be resolved after three (3) JHSC meetings or after three (3) months whichever is the shorter shall be referred to CJHSC for final resolution.
