REGULAR WORK YEAR FOR EMPLOYEES. 1. The annual salary established for employees covered by this Agreement, shall be payable in respect of the employee's regular work year.
2. Pursuant to the Standard School Calendar established by legislation and regulation, the regular work year shall be scheduled between the first Tuesday after Labour Day and the last Friday in June of the subsequent year, excluding Saturdays, Sundays, Statutory Holidays, Winter Break and Spring Break. If the last Friday in June falls on or before June 25 the regular work year will end on June 30.
3. There shall be no fewer than five (5) non-instructional days for professional development. Upon request from the Union, one (1) of the five (5) days shall be used for a district-wide professional day.
4. The Board shall provide two (2) afternoon non-instructional sessions to allow for Parent/Teacher Conferences and two (2) afternoon non-instructional sessions to allow for assessment/evaluation and/or the designing of educational programs.
5. Professional development at the school level will be developed collegially by Administration and school staff.
6. The last day of the school year will continue to be a day made available for necessary year-end administration. Students shall not be in session. It is not to be considered on the non-instructional days described in D.21.3 or D.21.4 above.
7. The first day of Winter Break shall be on the Monday preceding December 26. Schools shall reopen on the Monday following January 1 unless January 1 is a Saturday or Sunday, in which case schools shall reopen on the following Tuesday.
8. The first day of the Spring Break shall be the third Monday in March. Schools shall reopen on the fourth Monday in March. If the fourth Monday in March is Easter Monday, schools shall reopen on the Wednesday, following the fourth Monday in March.
9. Any work performed by employees covered by this Agreement beyond the employee's work year, shall be voluntary.
REGULAR WORK YEAR FOR EMPLOYEES. 31.1 The annual salary established for employees covered by this Agreement in Article 20 (Basic Salary Scale) shall be payable in respect of the regular employee’s work year which shall not exceed those days in session per school year, as prescribed in the Ministry calendar inclusive of:
i. No fewer than 5 non-instructional days;
ii. At least one year-end administrative day.
31.2 Any employee requested by the appropriate supervisor and who agrees to work beyond the number of prescribed days in the school year shall be compensated by time off during the school year, except for District activities normally compensated by honoraria.
REGULAR WORK YEAR FOR EMPLOYEES. 1. The working year for full time employees shall not exceed 195 days in session. Part time work shall be pro-rated.
2. Employee attendance at any required activity outside of the regular work year shall be voluntary, and at the employee's discretion:
a. paid at the rate of 1/195 of the annual salary per day, or
b. subject to compensatory time off. The scheduling of compensatory time shall be determined by the employee after consultation with the school administrator.
3. The working year for employees shall include:
a. five (5) non-instructional days for professional development;
b. one (1) Curriculum Implementation Day according to the School Calendar Regulation;
c. an opening day for the school on which the day is shortened for all students in the school, and on which the Board may provide different dismissal times for different students of the school;
d. one (1) year-end administrative day. This day shall be a non-attendance day for students;
e. four (4) days which are shortened by one (1) hour for the purpose of parent- teacher interviews or student assessment;
f. for kindergarten teachers who enroll two (2) divisions, additional parent-teacher conference days or student assessment days shall be provided when the total enrolment in the two (2) divisions is as follows: 30-33 students 0.5 additional days 34-37 students 1.0 additional days 38-41 students 1.5 additional days 42+ students 2.0 additional days These days shall be scheduled by the teacher after consultation with the school administrator.
4. Teachers of kindergarten students shall be provided five (5) consecutive days after the opening day for a phased-in start to kindergarten. The teacher may use these days for gradual entrance and/or home visits during the school day.
5. Days in session shall be scheduled according to the Ministry of Education's Standard School Calendar (provided at back cover).
6. No employee shall suffer loss of pay in the event of a Board ordered closure of a work site or a Board ordered cancellation of student attendance. When safety is not a factor, the Board may require employees to report to work.
REGULAR WORK YEAR FOR EMPLOYEES. 1. The annual salary established for employees covered by this Agreement, shall be payable in respect of the employee's regular work year.
REGULAR WORK YEAR FOR EMPLOYEES. 1. The school year as determined by the School Act and appropriate regulations and set out annually in a Ministry of Education Information Circular shall be considered as the employee work year.
2. Employees covered by this Agreement who agree upon request in writing by the Board to work beyond the last working day in June (unless regular school work is unfinished), during the Christmas or Spring break, or prior to the first working day in September, shall have the option to be paid at a scale rate of one (1) over the number of prescribed school days in the year, as defined by the Ministry, times the annual salary and allowances, or to take equal time off in lieu, at a time mutually agreed, for each day so employed. This provision also applies to an employee required by the Board to attend court during non- teaching days.
3. No employee shall suffer loss of pay in the event of a Board ordered closure of a worksite or a Board ordered cancellation of student attendance. No employee shall be required to report to work in either of the above circumstances.
