School Leave. An officer may be granted school leave, with salary and benefits, non-chargeable against any of the other leaves, upon recommendation of the Police Chief and approval of the City Manager or his/her designee, to attend conferences, schools, and similar events designed to improve his/her knowledge and considered as being beneficial and in the best interest of the City.
School Leave. Leave shall be granted for employees to attend school conferences or classroom activities related to the employee's child in conformance with Minnesota law.
School Leave. An employee shall be granted up to a total of sixteen (16) hours during a school year to attend school conferences or classroom activities related to the employee’s child, provided the conferences or classroom activities cannot be rescheduled during non- work hours. If the need for the leave is foreseeable, the employee must provide reasonable prior notice of the leave and make a reasonable effort to schedule the leave so as not to disrupt unduly the operation of the Employer. An employee shall be allowed to use vacation or compensatory time for this leave; otherwise this leave shall be without pay.
School Leave. Bargaining unit members shall be entitled to 24 hours school leave each calendar year. Leave must be taken in two (2) hour increments if less than four (4) hours is requested. After four (4) hours, bargaining unit members may utilize school leave on a one
(1) hour basis. No more than two (2) bargaining unit members shall be allowed off at a time. School leave is available for training and/or education directly related to the completion of a Fire Science or Fire Service Management degree, or training directly related to the services provided by the Department and the duties of the bargaining unit member. School leave is not intended to be utilized for union related activities, training, seminars, conferences or other functions. School leave time shall be limited to time required for travel to and from, and attendance at, covered training. Requests for school leave must be submitted to the Training Officer no less than 72 hours in advance of the training date. Approval of school time off shall be on a first come first serve basis. In the event multiple requests for school leave are received at the same time the request by the most senior employee will be approved.

Employees who are parents, domestic partner of parent, or guardians of school children from preschool through grade twelve (12) shall be allowed to take up to twenty- four (24) hours of paid time off per calendar year to visit or volunteer at their child's school. Provided, such leave must be taken in two (2) hour increments and scheduled two (2) weeks in advance with the Employee’s supervisor’s approval. School leave shall not be accrued and expire after one (1) year. Upon resignation or termination, school leave will not be compensated. Employees who are the sibling, sibling-in-law, grandparent, aunt, uncle, parent in-law of school children from preschool through grade twelve (12) shall be allowed to take up to twenty-four (24) hours of unpaid time off per calendar year to visit or volunteer at their child's school. Provided, such leave must be taken in two (2) hour increments and scheduled two‑weeks in advance with the Employee’s supervisor’s approval. An Employee taking school-related leave will not lose any employment benefit or seniority accrued before or during the date of such leave.
School Leave. The County shall grant any employee unpaid leave of up to sixteen (16) hours during any school year to attend school conferences or classroom activities related to the employee’s child, provided the conferences or classroom activities cannot be scheduled during non-working hours. An employee may substitute Vacation, Paid Leave, or Compensatory Time for any part of the leave under this section.
School Leave. Any time the Borough shall require an employee to attend any approved course of instruction pertaining to said employee’s job classification and said course of instruction shall be given during the hours wherein the employee would normally work, said employee shall be granted a leave of absence with full pay and benefits (but without any overtime pay usually earned unless he or she actually works during such time and earns overtime) to attend such course of instruction and shall not be penalized in any way by virtue of his attendance. Any other conference or seminar that is not covered in the paragraph above shall be approved by the Borough Clerk with not less than 72 hours (3 days) advance notice.

However, such leave may be denied if granting the leave would disrupt Advancement Project’s business. An employee taking school-related leave will not lose any employment benefit or seniority accrued before or during the date of such leave.

Upon request and with the approval of the Comrrlissicn of Public Safety, leave days will be granted to employees to attl"'l1C approved training schools and/or seminars which, in the opinion of the Con~mission of Public Safety, will advance the knowledge, skill, and efficiency of firefighting and fire prevention to the benefit of the City of Xxxxx Park.
