Standby Status a. In accordance with 5 CFR 551.431, employees are in a standby status when their movement is restricted by official order to a designated post of duty, and they are required to be in a state of readiness to perform work.

Standby Status. Employees may be required by the department to be on standby during off duty hours for the purpose of responding to City or public emergency situations arising at times other than during normal working hours. Employees who volunteer for standby status will be placed on such standby status, if qualified, before non-volunteers.
Standby Status. Under normal conditions, the Second Tie will be operated in an energized stand-by mode (i.e., with both 345kV circuit breakers closed and the 115kV breaker B9754 open). The Second Tie will be placed in service (to carry load) only when the First Tie is out of service. Standby Status. The following provisions shall apply to standby status: Officers on standby are required to remain available through contact by phone and must be available to work at all times. Upon being called, the Officer must respond and report to work immediately and, in any event, no later than one hour (forty-five (45) minutes for K-9 Officers). Officers failing to report to work within one (1) hour (forty-five (45) minutes for K-9 Officers) shall be subject to loss of standby pay for the period up to the point at which the Officer reports to work and may be subject to further disciplinary action if appropriate. Beginning and ending times for the standby period shall be established and communicated to the employee prior to placement on standby. If an employee is called back to work, the off-duty premium shall cease, and thereafter normal overtime rules shall apply.
Standby Status. As required by the Criminal Prosecutor (District Attorney’s Office), Police Officers required to monitor their phone and be able to immediately respond in person to participate in a hearing, at times other than their normal work hours, shall receive payment for a two (2) hour minimum or actual time exceeding two (2) hours at their appropriate overtime rate. For the purpose of this section, Standby Status is the equivalent of waiting in a court lobby awaiting to testify whether or not in fact one’s testimony ultimately was required.
Standby Status. An employee may serve in a standby status for the purpose of assigning and/or performing callback status. An employee assigned to work in standby status shall receive four (4) hours of compensation at his/her regular hourly rate of pay for each twenty-four (24) hours of standby service.
