Staffing Schedules. Schedules shall be posted at least fourteen (14) days in advance of Employees’ scheduled work. Once posted, schedules can only be changed by notifying the affected Employees personally and explaining the necessity of the change. Seniority shall be recognized as far as practicable in changing schedules. Fourteen (14) days’ notice shall be given to affected Employees of any planned change(s), and no change(s) shall be made during such fourteen (14) day period except in emergencies or when changes are mutually agreed to by the Employer and the affected Employee(s). The Employee shall be called at the phone number he/she has on file with the Employer. Employees may trade scheduled work days so long as no overtime pay for either Employee is paid as a result of the trade. All trade requests shall be submitted after the schedule is posted, shall be submitted on the proper trade request form and shall be submitted to and approved in writing by the appropriate department head. Trade requests concerning weekend hours shall be submitted by noon (12 p.m.) on the Wednesday prior to the weekend in question, trade requests for non-weekend hours shall be submitted at least seventy-two (72) hours prior to both shifts in question. An Employee failing to report for a traded shift shall be disciplined as if absent for the shift for which he/she was originally scheduled.
Staffing Schedules. Each four (4) week staffing schedule, which shall include days off, requested Personal Leave Days, approved vacations and holidays, shall be posted two (2) weeks before the end of the current schedule. Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s holidays shall be posted together, but separately from the four-week schedule, on the same date as the posting of the schedule containing the Thanksgiving holiday. The nurse manager will make every reasonable effort to post this schedule by November 1. These postings shall include the 48-hour time period from 7 a.m. before the designated holiday to 7 a.m. after the designated holiday. The request book shall remain in the patient care unit in a convenient area designated by the Nurse Manager until at least one (1) week before the schedule posting. Both parties recognize the increasingly technical and specialized nature of nursing care. To this end, the Hospital will schedule a Registered Nurse to the unit to which s/he is normally assigned. In unusual cases, a Registered Nurse may be assigned to a unit to which s/he is not normally assigned on a temporary basis. However, under such circumstances, the nurse will not be assigned charge unless s/he agrees. a. Every effort will be made to adhere strictly to such schedules, but the Hospital will not unreasonably deny requests to switch schedules within the same patient care unit. Such changes shall be arranged by the Registered Nurse with another qualified staff person on his/her unit, and with the approval of the immediate supervisor. b. Personal Leave Days and Holidays will normally be reflected in the four (4) week schedule and shall be allocated on an equitable basis, and shall not be unreasonably denied. A maximum of two (2) Personal Leave Days shall be granted on an emergency basis by the immediate supervisor, and shall not be (1) Personal Leave Day may be carried over into the first quarter of the following year. c. Staffing Schedules. All educators will be provided a complete schedule which includes the following: 1. Beginning and end times of their duty day. 2. Assigned sections/classes to be taught with specific time periods. 3. Specifically defined prep time. 4. Specifically defined duty-free lunch time. This schedule will be provided on or by the first day of workshop week.
