UNIFORMS AND UNIFORM ALLOWANCE. Where the Employer requires the Employee to wear a uniform, the Employer shall supply free of charge a designated uniform of a suitable type or design; or in lieu thereof pay an allowance of $159 per annum payable on a pro rata basis each pay day. Uniforms shall be laundered by the Employer or an allowance $3.70 per fortnight which is not payable on annual leave. Where the Employer supplies a uniform to the employee, subsequent issue shall be on an as needs basis.

UNIFORMS AND UNIFORM ALLOWANCE. Unit employees who are required by their appointing authority to wear a work uniform shall receive uniform benefits and/or maintenance allowances as provided below. In the event that an appointing authority changes the type and/or style of required uniforms, or requires additional employees to wear a uniform, said appointing authority will, subject to review and approval by the City Administrative Officer, provide an appropriate initial issue and will provide for the maintenance and replacement either through a contract service or a biweekly allowance for said purpose. A. All maintenance and construction personnel assigned to the Los Angeles Zoo. B. Employees assigned to the Wastewater Collection Systems Division of the Department of Public Works shall be issued four (4) uniforms annually. These employees shall also receive a uniform allowance of $20.00 per payperiod for the cleaning and maintenance of these uniforms (uniforms for these employees may consist of shirts and pants, coveralls or a combination thereof). Effective the start of the payperiod that includes July 1, 2011, the $20.00 biweekly allowance shall be increased to $25.00 biweekly. C. Employees assigned to the Wastewater Treatment Plants, Bureau of Sanitation, shall be issued four (4) sets of uniforms (work shirts and work pants) annually during the term of this MOU. These employees also shall receive $20.00 per pay period for the cleaning and maintenance of these uniforms. Effective the start of the payperiod that includes July 1, 2011, the $20.00 biweekly allowance shall be increased to $25.00 biweekly. D. Full time employees who are required by management to wear a specific safety-type work shoe/boot or a uniform shoe/boot and whose employing department does not already provide said shoes or boots, or a cash allowance, shall receive a cash allowance of one hundred thirty five dollars ($135.00), and intermittent and half-time employees shall receive one-half this cash allowance for the purchase, repair and maintenance of said shoes or boots provided they are on active payroll status each January 1 during the term of this MOU. In no event shall an employee receive more than $135.00 under the provisions of this Article. Effective July 1, 2011, this boot allowance shall be increased to one hundred fifty dollars ($150.00) for full time employees. Employees who are required to wear a County prescribed uniform, that the employee must buy and maintain, as assigned by the appointing authority, as a regular part of their duties shall receive a uniform allowance of twelve dollars and forty-nine cents ($12.49) paid 24 pay periods per year (the first two pay days of each month). D. Animal Control Officers shall receive five hundred dollars ($500) per year worth of uniforms in lieu of any uniform allowance.

UNIFORMS AND UNIFORM ALLOWANCE. SECTION 1: BUS/TRUCK DRIVERS A. If uniforms for bus drivers are mandated by the Employer, then the following provisions (B through E) shall apply. B. Bus drivers shall be provided jackets, not other items. C. Uniforms are to be worn only during working hours while the driver is engaged in his occupation of driving the school bus. D. An allowance of $3 per week will be allowed for each driver who is not issued a uniform by September 15 and will be paid each pay day thereafter until the uniform is issued. E. The allowance provision becomes effective July 1, 1974.
